I tested the build earlier even with the chaos planes nerf this build is still viable even against the new dream riders/mindflays. If that means anything to anyone.
(Mods I don't understand why this isn't in the farming forums as its a farming build.)

^^ A lot of these farming things got moved to a different section, presumably after Inde's merge disaster - I'd bet money this one was in farming, now it's in Mesmer.

Beautiful work, I know a couple people who would go crazy for this. I'll have to pass the word around.

This is a nice build, I particularly like not having to swap armour and weapons a lot on a solo run The run to chaos plains can be fun.

How do you not aggro the aataxes? They seem to aggro whenever a dying nightmare pops up, and a lone aataxe always seems to follow a group of grasping darknesses. Obviously I'm not getting something here.
You can't avoid the Aatxes, but if you creep your agro bubble in and then stormchaser out they tend to break very quickly. If not, run around a little, just back and forth; while you are moving, even just a little, they can't track you. Don't forget to keep away from your spirit though or it will get agro and die. If this does happen, just put it up asap (and hope you don't get interrupted) as the graspings will hold agro on you an leave the spirit alone generally.

I'm having more success dropping Blood to 11 and using the extra points on a better storm chaser for more energy per hit and only 1 second down time. The only thing I noticed on the loss of blood is it looks like you need one extra touch on a smite, but you will appreciate the storm chaser buff a lot more.

I love my ranger but she had kind of fallen by the wayside when I started 600/smite farming and using the SF sin... I can't wait to dust her off to try this build out.

I never would have thought to use Greater Conflagration as an energy source like that, it's brilliant. Kudos on the build.

@ Fay Vert

If you are not using a Blod Knife off hand I suggest getting one.

Blood Knife
+12 Energy (Req 9 Blood magic)
+30 Health
+1 Blood Magic (20% Chance While using Skills)

SHOULD make every 5th touch a +1 for added health/Damage.

Loss of 18 overall armor though, but taking Ebon Battle Standard of Courage in one of the optional PvE only slots should makes up for that.

No thanks, the loss of 18 armour is going to kill you really fast unless you have battle standard, the extra energy is just not needed, so you are swapping an offensive skill for a 1/5 chance to do 3 lifestealing! That's not a good trade.

You would be better off using [Awaken the Blood]

Where exactly do you place the Greater Conflagration spirit? I've never done Famine runs so I'm not quite sure <_< is it by the ghost or on the opposite side that you pull Graspings?

I keep a focus thats +12 energy and 15 -1 energy regen for the off moments when the grasping darkness [skill]fear me[/skill] spike as storm chaser ends and if the mindblades energy drain at that kind of moment as well. The armor is most definately needed against the smites I don't think it really is against the mindblades.

[skill]awaken the blood[/skill] is an alright skill and works well for smites but its quite hard to use it in the chaos planes since they drain enchantments and disrupt so much. The lack of enchantments and other strippable things is what makes this build so powerful.

I put it in the corners with stairs opposite of the mob I'm pulling I will try to find a video or map of the famine build or possibly make one. The smites you have to pick your own safe zones since the mobs very however you can kill coldfires pretty easily so you can clear safe spots quite well. The chaos planes you just have to use stormchaser to break aggro to reset the spirit then resume the killing.

I am not sure Rank 2 would be sufficient I first made the build when I had rank 8 norn it might be possible if anyone testing can give some feedback as most of your healing is from vampiric touches.

Certainly agree with that, I always like swap options, a +60hp/hexed to swap to will also buy you 3 seconds of max degen to get trolls off.

And I wasn't recommending [[Awaken The Blood]

This is a lovely build with some options that I agree with you are as yet to be finalised. I'm playing with [["Finish Him"] instead of the Djinn and even [[Mental Block] instead of "I Am Unstoppable!" but there are lots of others such as [[Vampiric swarm] or [[unholy feast] that may be worth playing with.

[skill]unholy feast[/skill] most definately speeds up the smite part and also makes the bone pits quite a bit easier same with spawning pools its just not too useful in chaos planes. I am still messing around with the mindflays though since new skills = new weakness such as I'm exploring the use of [skill]panic[/skill] against them and other signet damaging skills. [skill]"i am unstoppable!"[/skill] could very well be replaced but I will try to get around to a nice update since I have been testing the build in fow with quite a bit of success being spider cave, wailing woods, and a few other various spots.

Shields are usually 16 armour max, but that assumes you meet the requirement, eg. Tactics. If you don't then the shield will only give you 8 Armour. You then add to that a "Sleep now in the Fire" inscription which gives you 10 armour vs Fire damage (converted from physical through [[Greater Conflagration])
