Default UW Plains Farming Question

Im using the build here along with the armor suggested as well as the staff and a set of zealous daggers and scythe:

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:A/E_..._Planes_Farmer

I seem to be having trouble, however, killing the grasping darknesses in the chamber before they drain my energy to the point where I cant maintain sf and damage them with other spells at the same time.

Ive tried taking my daggers out and hitting a grasping, but it feels like the energy loss from not using the staff and its mods offsets the gain.

No matter what I do I can't seem to kill them fast enough before they drain my energy.

Is there something I'm missing here? I've wasted a pretty penny because of this one hiccup and I've even tried some of the other builds suggested on the discussion page for that one to no avail.

Can anyone suggest any modifications to that build that will help me out here that doesn't require an essence of celerity to work? Should I be using a one-handed wep and offhand focus instead of a staff for the chamber? All I'm looking for is a build that is moderately reasonable to manage energy and timing wise.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Grasping cannot hit you thus cannot gain adrenaline normally, which is what they need to drain your energy. The way that they get the adrenaline is by taking damage. If I recall correctly, if you damage them to around 80% of their health then they have enough adrenaline to use Fear Me!, so basically you need to take down more than 20%hp with burning.

tl;dr use bed of coals+knockdown, then use a max. of two lava fonts before doing another bed of coals+knockdown then finishing them off with lava font if needed.

No favor right now but would this be correct then as a cycle?

Glyph of lesser nrg > fire attune > bed of coals > whirlwind > lava font x2 > bed of coals > whirlwind > lava font (if needed)

And I'm not sure what you mean by having to take down more than 20% of their hp with burning...

They can only gain adrenaline by taking direct damage, burning =/= Direct damage, it's degen, they don't gain adrenaline from it, no adrenaline=No energy loss

Ah so Ive been overusing lava font apparently which is why Ive been getting wrecked towards the end; they all have enough adrenaline at that point. I see. Thanks for the help guys I'm going to take another shot once favor is up.

if you damage them to 20% max health, they gain enough adrenaline for "Fear Me". so, you damage them to 21% and degen them from burning to kill them

Make sure that the grasping are set on fire twice, or they will drain your energy before you kill them. NOTE: Whirlwind does not recharge in time to knock enemies down twice in one bed of coals use.
Right from the usage section on the PVXWiki page.

Biggest issue with the Graspings is to have good timing and not run yourself out of energy. I found that its best to do it in 2 cycles: your glyph + damage skills, and damage skills again when they recharge. The Graspings should be at about 50% health at that point which gives you a little time to recharge the glyph and do another cycle of damage. They should die and you'll have just enough energy to recast SF. No attacking should be necessary.

I use Searing Heat and Dash (for traps) instead of Whirlwind and Bed of Coals but I'm not sure what difference it makes. I never have energy problems in the chamber with that build.

Also are you using a vampiric weapon in the chamber to keep your health under 100 and prevent scatter?

I am not using a vampiric weapon to prevent scatter. From the videos Ive seen it didnt seem to be absolutely necessary in the chamber. But I have tried it and I was still having issues killing them off.

Dpnt recast Lava Font until the burning from the previous Font is done. Also, I use Ele to farm Plains, and at 18 Fire Magic everything dies in 2 Fonts (except for Minds of course).

If you have full hp I find that they only scatter once, and that casting SF letting it drop then putting it up again, and then letting your hp regen after you have killed in case of traps just wastes more time than letting them scatter.
