Default Guide for Farming EVERYTHING

** UPDATED 9-13-09 **

Ok, I'm ganna need all of your guys help here. This thread will be used to note all farming methods of farming...

1) Materials
2) Golds
3) Tomes/Elite Tomes
4) Festive Drops
5) Super rare items (BDS, Crystaline, VS, etc.)
6) Weps with a cool skin and have value
7) Dyes
8) Reputation Points
9) Green Weapon's
10) Collector items (D-Cores for gauntlet, Chalices for wrap, etc.)
11) W/e else I forgot

[You just post your area, build used, how you use it and I will put it up in my post.

Here is another great link to farming stuff with the builds: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10326326

Material Farming
Regular Materials
Bolt of Cloth - Luxon Assassins can be farmed in the quest "The Haclyon Job" for loads of cloth and silk, as well as Platinum Items

Bone - In the CoF (Cathedral of Flames). Just kill everything while going through the dungeon and you should get lots and lots of bone.

Tons of bone to be farmed outside Bergen Hot Springs in HM. As with any place where skeletons congregate.

Feather - Nahpui Quarter mission (Factions) in HM with a 330 Vengeful Rit build. Kill the Tengu. Star Lights cannot be killed, just run past them. Also it should be noted to run past ALL bosses.

Nahpui Quarter mission (Factions) in NM with a newer spirit spammer build. Take Vampirism, Pain, Shadowsong, Signet of Spirits, Spiritleech Aura, Bloodsong, Armor of Unfeeling, and a preferably Pain inverter or Painful Bond. Place spirits down, pull Tengu and watch the yellow numbers fly. Don't know if you can kill the bosses with this build.

Suiting Harbor - Head to Jaya Bluffs with a SoS spammer in NM and get about 70ish feathers for each 20so min run. The feathered crests salvage into 3-5 feathers each.

Scales -

Skyward Reach, Normal Mode

Mantra of Flame | Defy Pain | Dolyak Signet | Deadly Riposte | Riposte | Power Attack | Counterattack | Healing Signet

Leave from Augury Rock and complete the loop around Skyward Reach. Kill Hydra. They drop Dessicated Hydra Claws, which salvage into Scales. They can also be turned in to Mourn Drakespur, a Collector along the run, who will trade you for 5 Claws: 20/20 Inspiration Focus, 20/20 Healing Focus, 15^50 max Shortbow, 20/20 Curses Staff (Dark Damage).
Granite Slab - Hulking Stone Elementals outside Sardec HM - Spirit spam farmer, Touch Ranger, General Melee Farming...You can use a 55/600 monk or an Ele or a sin, anything works really as they're so easy.

Iron Ingot - Kilroy's Punchout Extravaganza Dungeon in Gunnars hold yields a lot of iron ingot's if you use a salvage kit on metal weapons. NM or HM is good. Any build/prof can farm this.

Farming Spectral Vatteirs yields a lot of swords/axes. Make sure to salvage them with a normal salvage kit instead of an superior salvage kit (it will give you steel ingots). Builds: 600/Smite, E/Me or Me/E Obsid Flesh tank with silver armor, or a A/Me crier (that knows how to wall pull).

Pile of Glittering Dust - Farming nightmares outside LA for dust is really good. There is also a quest in the area that spawns quite a few around you. Any build I guess would be ok. (Person who posted this didn't give me a build)

To get massive amounts of Glittering Dust, use Measure for Measure inscriptions on Gold Great Conch shields and salvage them for materials. I've gotten between 75 - 190 Piles of Glittering Dust per pop doing this.

You can 600/Smite the FoW (Fissure of Woe) to get lots of dust.

Plant Fiber -

I just generally farm this with normal 600/smite, I would use SB and 1 visage for the boss, which sometimes can spend to much time casting once spellbreaker runs out if you dont cast a visage while spellbreaker is up.
Tanned Hide Square -

Wood Plank -

Chitin Fragment - The Armored Cave Spiders (in FoW) drop Corrosive Spider Legs, which salvage into Chitin Fragments. It is suggested to farm for obsidian shards as well as chitin fragments at the same time with this build: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:W/Mo_Wammo_FoW

Rare Materials
Amber Chunk - Do some AB (alliance battles) and get kurz faction and trade it in for amber chunks

DTSC (need info)

Bolt of Damask -

Bolt of Linen -

Bolt of Silk - Outside of Sunspear Great Hall. Use a Vengeful build. I use a W/Rt with the skills; Endure Pain, Enraging Charge, Signet of Stamina, Vengeful was Khanhei, Weapon of Warding, Mend Body and Soul, Bonetti's Defense, and Dolyak Signet. When leaving Sunspear Great Hall cast Signet of Stamina and run towards the spider rangers. Before aggroing cast Endure Pain and Enraging Charge at the same time and get all aggro. Once all aggro is at you cast VwK and wait for it to end. When it ends cast Dolyak Signet and Weapon of Warding. When VwK recharges, cast it again and repeat. It shouldn't be much longer until they are all dead. After they are all dead pick up the spiderweb's and salvage them with an superior salvage kit, this will get you bolts of silk.

Luxon Assassins can be farmed in the quest "The Haclyon Job" for loads of cloth and silk, as well as Platinum Items

Deldrimor Steel Ingot -

Diamond - Doing VSF runs. Most of the times you will get a diamond from Justicar's Thommis's chest. A VSF run is explained in the "#5) Super Rare Item" section

Great Northern Wall Mission, Normal Mode

Using Sprint and Enraging Charge, run through the Mission until you get to the cutscene. Instead of running away, take on the mob of Charr that come stampeding around the corner, using the corner to block as many of them as possible. Charr Hides (trade 4 to Calissa Sedgwick in Ascalon City for a Fur Square - rare crafting material, or you can salvage them for Tanned Hide Squares or Fur Squares) and Charr Carvings (Halloween and Wintersday Collectors) drop regularly. This run should only take a few minutes at most.
Glob of Ectoplam - Farming ectos takes place in the underworld. Many builds are used to farm ectos and some work in NM/HM or both. Common builds to farm ectos involve a W/Rt, R/Rt, or Rt/R Vengeful Was Khanhei build. Basically you take the quest, kill graspings, run past the aatxes into the wastes section of the underworld and kill the smite crawlers with VwK.

Farming ectos can also be done with a 600/Smite team or even a 600/Smite/QZ team. In fact you could clear out the entire UW with these builds.

Another way is doing UWSC (Underworld Speed Clear) in which you have a group of 7 assassins and 1 vale necro completing all the quests in the underworld with the help from a conset. (1 Conset = an armor of salvation, grail of might, and an essence of clarity). More info on this can be found on PvX wiki but the basic idea is that all assassins split up (except the one assassin and vale necro doing the vale quests) and complete all of the 10 UW quests in under 30 min. Most PUG's cant do this so an extra essence of clarity may be brought to provide extra time if something happens.

Simple turn your faction into jade after doing a few runs. MQSC can easily net 10+ jade per hour.

Other bonuses: Jade weapons can be salvaged to dust, yeti run can net several golds+tomes+fur, and there are locked chests to open. Naga run can net a few scales + monstrous mats. Wallow run can also net some monstrous mats.

Other possibilities for Jade: Anything that nets luxon faction (ab, fa, etc), very rare chance of jade from jade weapons

To allow a faster degen, at least R3 Asuran and Delmore is recommended, and bring a scythe, since you will probably run into a bit of energy problems. The DE + dash is for a faster run to the portal north of the skales. Have at least 50 energy.
Obsidian Shard - You can 600/Smite the FoW (Fissure of Woe) to get a good amount of shards.

Gold Item/Weapon Farming
Raptor Farming outside Rata Sum (Look for builds under "Reg Tome Farming>Assassin")

Spectral Vatteir farming in SE corner of Jaga Moraine (Look for builds under "Reg Tome Farming>Mesmer")

Elite/Non-Elite Tome Farming
Elite Tomes

Monk - Byzzr Windmender outside Lutgardis Conservatory with a SV (Spoil Victor) buid.

Ritualist - Tomtom Spiriteater just north outside Fort Aspenwood (Gate). Use A Perma Silver armor build and run up the hill to your left and you should see him.

Elementalist - Exuro Flatus south of Gate of Madness. Use a 130 Dervish build. Just go and kill him, really simple. He has no enchant removal or anything horrid to deal with, but if you do have trouble just kill yourself once before facing him.

Necromancer -

Warrior -

Dervish -

Assassin - Oustide Ran Musu (May have wrong outpost). Use a silver assassin build.

Mesmer -

Ranger -

Paragon - North of Mihanu Township NF

Regular Tomes

Monk -

Ritualist -

Elementalist -

Necromancer -

Warrior - Hulking Stone Elementals outside Sardec HM - Spirit spam farmer, Touch Ranger, General Melee Farming...

Dervish -

Assassin - Raptors east of Rata Sum. You can use a Obsid Flesh Silver Tank, a silver perma, or my favorite a W/N farmer. [W/N is fastest and best]. Time for each zone: Obsid Flesh Silver Tank & Silver Perma are about 3 min. A W/N is less than a minute.

Mesmer - The Jaga Moraine farm is THE place to farm these. Builds used here: 600/Smite, Obsidian Flesh Tank (with silver), or a A/Me crier (needs to know how to wall hug and pull to be effective). Just run from Longeyes Ledge to Jaga Moraine, grab the bounty and kill both groups and rezone. Easy as that.

Ranger -

Paragon -

Festive Drop Farming
In Prophecies

In Factions

In Nightfall

In Eye of the North
Raptors east of Rata Sum

Spectral Vatteir in SE corner of Jaga Moraine

Secret Lair of the Snowman dungeon in Umbral Grotto
Super Rare Item Farming

Voltaic Spear - There are runs called VSF which means Voltaic Spear farming. To start farming, you have to find a team in Umbrall Grotto(I dont know if this is correct name), its easiest on American district 1. Full team contains 4 Rojs(monks with special build with ray of judgement), perma sin(assassin with tank build, shadow form), bip(necro with 1hp armor set, using blood is power), then hb( monk with a build to heal the whole team, using healers boon), fs(rt/r or r/rt using frozen soil). It's easy to get the builds there, from people running. Firstly assassin run them to the Slavers Exile, elite dungeon. Team heads to Justicar Thommis' sub-dungeon. When you zone you grab the bounty and run to the bridge (if you are BiP and Perma). Then the BiP BiP's the Perma and the perma runs counter-clockwise until he gets to a wall where the other party members are on the other side of. Then the Perma pulls all enemies to the wall and the RoJ's kill everything. When thommis is dead, and all creatures surrounding him, the wall dissapears and you have almost clear way to get to the slavers chest, which drops VS. The whole run take about 10-15 minutes, I've been there like 50-70 times and got Voltaic Spear once(req13).
The chance of getting it is 0,03%, although there are other valuable items to get. Ah, forgot to say that the whole run takes place in hard mode, so you have to finish eotn at least once with any character.

Bone Dragon Staff - Do a SoOSC. (need info)

Obsidian Edge - FoWSC

Frog Scepter - Bogroots Growth dungeon. So you meet up in Gadds encampment and start a party with all perma assassins. Make sure you have at least 2 DD (damage dealers; with silver armor). So you leave Gadds and go to top of map and then the person who gets there enters dungeon and then leaves (so party is outside dungeon in explorable area). Everyone grabs quest on left from the CLOSEST npc. then head back in the dungeon. Once in the person who ran to the dungeon usually runs to the second level. The second level is the hard part. This is where money is collected (for essence of clarity) and then the Essence is activated. The goal of all permas is to run as far as possible (hitting w/e ress shrine you can) without dying. Note: Stormcloud Incuubi have a skill that is unavoidable that strips your SF. Make sure you have some extra enchants if you have to run past them (Feigned neutrality/dwarven stability/etc). Try to avoid these Incuubi if you can! Then if your team was good enough then the DD kills the boss, chest spawns, and he dies. Everyone is ress'ed and all grab chest and done.

Crystaline Sword -

Eternal Shield - UWSC

Eternal Bow - UWSC

Eternal Blade - UWSC

Lesser Value Weapon Farming
I guess it's also worth mentioning how commonly Dead Swords and Ancient Shields drop in Farhanur (One of either of them in every run basically). Use a 130 Dervish Build to farm Farhanur (HM)

Feather has got to be Naphui or Jaya with 330 rit or VwK respectively. nice guide well done XD

well i didn't see all of it so i have some more.

Elite Monk - tome must be the boss just outside of Lutgardis Consveratory with a normal SV build.

Gold item farm - i personally use Spectrals and/or W/N raptor farm with leecher's, each bring a good amount of golds.

Glittering Dust - there's a good farm just outside of ToA which brings in good amounts of dust.

Festive Items - Raptors is a good one for all festive items apart from halloween where the undead farm in North Kryta is a good one for Decayed Orr emblems, use 55 build with SoJ.

Voltaic Spear - VSF farm at Umbral Grotto look on PvX for PUG build.

Asura Points - Raptor farm, use W/N build which blows up 33 raptors plus the boss to net some good points in under a minute

That would be Byzzr Wingmender. He also drops Byzzr's Benediction a Green Divine Focus offhand with crap mods.

As far as anything else, I tend to focus on my Warrior (main, <3), so here's what I can get you.

Glittering Dust, Gold Items, Event Items:
Farm the Raptor Nestlings in Riven Earth outside of Rata Sum with a Warrior. Don't mess with the Broodmother, just kill the 24 Nestlings that aren't with her group. The run takes less than 1 minute to complete, including the re-zone. To get massive amounts of Glittering Dust, use Measure for Measure inscriptions on Gold Great Conch shields and salvage them for materials. I've gotten between 75 - 190 Piles of Glittering Dust per pop doing this.
If you do go after Broodmother, you'll have to be W/N and use one of these builds. You get a few more kills plus Broodmother might drop an Elite Assassin Tome or her (worthless) Unique Daggers, Claws of the Broodmother (not quite worthless, you can give them to Anton or Zenmai, or merch them for 35g, lol).

Globs of Ectoplasm:
Smite Crawler Farms (W/D and W/Me variants)
Demonic Remains, Phantom Residue, and Piles of Glittering Dust (which the other 2 salvage into) are also dropped in this run.

Obsidian Shards:
Armored Cave Spider Farm (W/Mo)
The Armored Cave Spiders also drop Corrosive Spider Legs, which salvage into Chitin Fragments.

Charr Carvings and Charr Hides:

Warrior/Monk

12+1+1 Axe Mastery
10+1 Strength
8 Healing Prayers

Sprint | Enraging Charge | Vigorous Spirit | Triple Chop | Cyclone Axe | Whirlwind Attack | Lion's Comfort | EBSoH

Grawl Necklaces:

Any Warrior build capable of beating the snot out of low level foes.

Frontier Gate to Ruins of Surmia and back. Over, and over, and over., Normal Mode

Leave from the Frontier Gate outpost and run North to the Ruins of Surmia outpost. Kill all the Grawl and Grawl Ulodytes you encounter. Ornate Grawl Necklaces drop frequently. They can be turned in to Wintersday Collectors for Holiday Items.

Scales:

Warrior/Mesmer

12+1+1 Strength
12+1 Tactics
3 Inspiration Magic

That's all I cba to remember at the moment. I might update later.

If you really want this done, why not try using the SEARCH function, and then add the appropriate links in your post...

FWIW, when I want a new farm for <ITEM HERE>, I simply SEARCH for it... A nice totalitarian farm post might be nice, but really, don't expect others to add redundant (READ: already posted) infos...

Thanks for all of your input guys. I'll update my 1st post soon. Let's keep the list growing!

Btw guys please just don't say " outside kamadan in HM" is where you farm fibers or w/e. Please also put some build that is used. Thanks.

Huh, I've never tried spirit spamming those. I usually use a 130hp Dervish build for that.

I believe there is a good place to farm plant fibers, outside the Mihanu Township into The Holdings of Chokhin. All the plants you kill (Enchanted Brambles etc) have a chance to drop up to 54 plant fibers, and they drop certain seeds which also salvage into Plant fibers, many gold items also drop in a run.

I just generally farm this with normal 600/smite, I would use SB and 1 visage for the boss, which sometimes can spend to much time casting once spellbreaker runs out if you dont cast a visage while spellbreaker is up.

I usually farm Granite outside Ascalon where the Hulking Stone Elementals are. You can use a 55/600 monk or an Ele or a sin, anything works really as they're so easy.
