I was just wondering how a non-speed clearing Mesmer would farm Ectos. Please don't tell me to go make an Assassin, Ritualist or Elementalist toon to do it.

Is there another way other than getting 100k and buying from people?

signet of illusions mesmer 600 / smite with resolve probably, just becareful of the nightmares

people don't get a lot of ectos from farming.

people don't get rich from farming anywhere but dungeon chests.

since your soul is bound to your mesmer for some dumbass reason, looks like you're stuck playing illusionary weaponry making 1 ecto an hour.

a buddy and I farmed UW with this.. cleared chamber completely, took restoring grenth's monuments, went to planes, cleared all the way to planes + planes itself, we got 6 ectos (me 4, he 2) in a time of 1:49 hours.

and to be honest, after hundreds of runs in UWSC I prefer spiritspam. no annoying failers, no whiners, no people Q.Q'ing about 1 ecto that was 'theirs' but was dropped for someone else.

also, some people have only just completed campaigns but because being rich is the hype in guild wars they also want to make some $$. they don't feel like creating another character and doing loads of storyline again, in addition to getting all the gear + HM in tyria for UWSC.

No one in this thread said Mesmers were good at farming. Read carefully. NO ONE. 1 ecto per hour is a lil exagerated and the fact Gift3d could only come up with an IW build to back up this false claim is farce.

I mentioned Mesmers as good Smiters for a 600/Smite UW duo team. It's no different then running a Mo primary for smiting. Are you boldly saying the old 600/Smite teams are averaging 1 ecto an hour?!

We can go even further back to the 55/SS duos. Do you also claim during that time everyone was only averaging 1 ecto an hour?

Get your facts straight. Don't just hop on a bandwagon.

What about the skellies of dhuum, don't they bypass Spirit Bond + Protective Spirit, even with a 600 build?

Spirit Bond will still trigger a heal if the condition is met, and their normal auto-attack will be reduced by Protective Spirit.

Their attack skills also require line of sight. If they are obstructed, you take no damage at all. But that's not too helpful if you are depending solely on Retribution and Holy Wrath to kill them.

Their regular attacks trigger normally, but their skills cause health loss.. which is not considered damage, so it bypasses everything. However, 600/smite still works. Wouldn't recommend taking on more than a couple skeles at a time though.
