Default Nicholas the Traveler's Collectible Item Farms

Heya everybody,

Thought it might be good to have a thread for people to post builds and locations for the current farm for Nicholas the Traveler. As opposed to posting a thread for every collectible.

A good place to take a first look if nothing is posted here is PVX

Also until the code is fixed, try to use this method to post your builds.

Just simply go to:
http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Special:PvXDecode
Enter the code and the post the build:

I'll start it off seeing as I have my items already;
NM/HM
item: Rot Wallow Tusk
location: exit from Boreas Seabed to Pongmei Valley
build: OAOj0MiMJTXTGblT+gVT7iMTTfA
Use: cast spirits, agro with painful bond, run back behind spirits, Assassin support. If things are dicey run back to priest at shrine who will heal you.

Feel free to post better builds\locations

I used a ranger spirit spammer build probably similar to yours, its a good build to farm all the items, usually not the fastest but works nearly everywhere.

Btw - since the code is down - might I suggest if we post skills also?
Just simply go to:
http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Special:PvXDecode
Enter the code and the post the build:
[build prof=Rt/Mo hea=3 cha=12 spa=12][Signet of Spirits][Gaze of Fury][Bloodsong][Vampirism][Painful Bond][Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support][Spirit Siphon][Cure Hex][/build]
That at least gives us a quick view. And once the code is fixed, we should see the builds again also.

On topic of builds, I used this:
OACjAyiM5QXTlT+gRbfTDgVTnNA
[build prof=Rt/? com=12 cha=12 spa=3][Signet of Spirits][Bloodsong][Vampirism][Anguish][Pain][Summon Spirits (Luxon)][Painful Bond][Shadowsong][/build]

Why reinvent the wheel? From the GW Wiki Main page click on the Travelers link then click on the link for Pv Wiki. Or you can just save the final link below to your favorites or RSS it.

i farmed all of mine relatively fast using my warrior and sabway. going out into pongmei valley from maatu's keep to boreas seabed. in 1.5 hours i farmed my ten plus 6 more which i sold for the lazy people who would rather type wtb all day then play the game. but if any one has read most my postings they will know i'm a sabway freak LOL have fun guys happy farming.

While that's a great link & a good suggestion, I guess my intent for this thread (as mentioned) is to cut down on the how do I farm X collectables? posts.
If people are having difficulty, don't have all campains or only have 1 char etc, pvx cookie-cutter builds won't help. So it might be useful to ask questions related to Nicholas here.
Though your use pvx nub comment is appropriate (added link on 1st post) & those looking for a quick fix should take a look.

upier- Great suggestion!

perma-sin works well in Pongmei NM. Take the luxon blessing. The +3 health regen easily keeps up with signet of judgment and vampirc bite (the only 2 skills on the run that go through sf). I've been getting 4-6 tusks per run.

This is without a doubt, one of the easier farms. It took me less than a hour to farm 15 tusks using a BHA ranger build and Sabway heroes. Out of Boreas and hit the Rot Wallow groups just outside the portal.

i've been using a SoS Spammer to farm every week's trophy. except for last week, behe hides... after a run with a SoS spammer, i switched to a 600 rit and it saved me about 5 mins on the run. But i only had to do two runs to get my quota so it wasn't that big of a deal.

You can definitely farm the wallows with a SoS spammer, but I commonly farm this area outside BP Reach, with a 600 rit in HM for rare canthan's. So you might land a nice little bonus this week while farming your gifts. If you're lucky enough to get a 20/20 dragon staff or something. Don't skip the naga!.

Very similar spirit spam build to op's (props!), but I'll divulge.

Can farm most content NM, and quite a lot in HM. Build can be modified for ANY class (but warrior/paragon will most likely suffer due to energy regen).

No. 1:
[build=OggkcNgZYKykPY50103U1E00mo0E]
[build prof=R/Rt exp=3 com=9 res=9 cha=12][Vampirism][Bloodsong][Signet of Spirits][Pain][Painful Bond][Armor of Unfeeling][Spiritleech Aura][Mend Body and Soul][/build]

No. 2:
[build=OggkcZgXYKykPY501kbZ1E00mo0E]
[build prof=R/Rt exp=6 com=7 res=9 cha=12][Vampirism][Bloodsong][Signet of Spirits][Radiation Field][Painful Bond][Armor of Unfeeling][Spiritleech Aura][Mend Body and Soul][/build]

Build 2 works better for MOBs that come into melee range. I use a +20 En rit staff as well. Use cupcakes or rock candy for speed boost (I don't bother)...

With my SoS spammer, i use rit primary. But two skills that shouldn't be overlooked which synergize well with a Spirit spammer, are Tryptaphan Signet, and Summon Ice Imp, they can be easily attained, and help out a lot in some of the "tougher" areas. I'm positive that there are a plethora of other skills that also work well with the spirit spamming concept. But because these are PvE, you don't have to sacrifice a primary or secondary profession to use them, nor spec in attribute points, and even with a low title they're both still effective enough to be on your skill bar. So for people having a tough time farming their Nicholas Collectibles, give these two skills a thought.

They both do the trick, and I only really use them in area's that have larger mobs that tend to take down the spirits quickly. It's particularly useful in a lot of Nightfall areas, mainly zone's with a high number of dervish foes.(as well as any other heavy AoE-using foe, or any that scatter easily) Since, 3-4 dervish's could easily wipe out your whole forest of spirits in mere seconds if you didn't place them far enough apart, or if you just used Summon Spirits. The two skills (ice imp, trypa) have definitely earned a spot on my rit's bars in these certain situations.

Trypta is great when they're really wiping out the spirits, slowed attack speed helps to keep them alive, and slowed movement helps to prevent scatter.

Ice Imp is good when the problems are minor, it definitely helps to prevent scatter, with ice spikes, and it does a decent amount of AoE dmg, as well as provide a constant wanding, I forget how much damage it does with it's basic attack atm, but it's enough to compare to a spirit. Not too mention spawning power effects the asura summons, so when you're in tight situations, you have a small disposable mini-tank.

I was going to say the same thing to Devilman - not sure why you'd use anything other than Ice Imp (seen both mursaat and djinn used, and wonder to myself, "WHY?")

But remember, [armor of unfeeling] and [spiritleech aura] are your spirit's best HM friends!!! =)

Also, [ebon vanguard assassin support] is a nice distract when they aggro you (as OP dictates).

Djinn, mursaat, and the naga, all have their uses, they work well with discord based builds, or any builds that rely on conditions. And if you can provide weakness for the Naga you can have a zero-energy-cost knockdown over and over. But the AoE, and the snaring from the Ice Imp is definitely more helpful, and makes me also wonder the same thing "why?". I think more people chose Djinn cause it looks l33t!

To be honest, I've never seen anyone recommend the naga summon, but your suggestion sounds discord-nice! As well as knock-down exploitable!

But I have to agree, you want to slow them from coming to and attacking the spirits. 2 skills (+ [tryptophan signet]) just eats too much out of your potential DPS... I'd just avoid the two, unless you want to bring heros/friends and cut the drop-rate in half (friends OK - good drop rate, as they get what you don't)...

I used my Perma just killing a few groups outside of BS. It took about 3 runs to get 9 tusks. (I got 1 tusk doing 600/smite - perma was better.)

my latest build, cuts about 10% off farm times:
[build=OgglchYHIGGiM5DWOdNlcUNBN5WKNB]
[build prof=R/Rt exp=8 wil=7 com=8 res=1 cha=12][Vampirism][Bloodsong][Signet of Spirits][Dust Trap][Painful Bond][Armor of Unfeeling][Radiation Field][Mend Body and Soul][/build]

EDIT: Worked fine for latest jungle troll tusk farm in HM, just use heros to get past first 1-2 pop-up life pod spawns (and flag them back):

EDIT2: don't bother HM - I only got a couple warrior tomes in 4 farms, and only 1 chest - best to NM it, bring a run skill - and do it 2-3 times faster...
