Part I: My Character

Equipment:
Pretty much all you need to know is that I have all +40 armor with half of them windwalker insignias and the other half blessed insignias (the one were you have +10 armor if you have an enchantment on you)
~~PLUS~~
I have a minor scythe mastery rune, a minor earth mastery rune and a major mysticism rune (I accidentally bought it...

). Also, my weapon is a regular scythe with damage (9-25 + 20%).

Attributes:

No Monk Attributes Put Into Yet
Scythe Mastery------------------+10 (+2)
Wind Prayers---------------------+0
Earth Prayers--------------------+3 (+1)
Mysticism------------------------+9 (+2)

Vital Boon
FaithFul Intervention
Mystic Vigor
Victorious Sweep

Eremites Attack
Resurrect (Only because I usually travel in partys)

Part II: Question

NOTE: Please Do NOT tell me I shouldn't do this for whatever reason as I WANT TO!

I would like to go Solo Farming in Istan and am thinking about going solo or group (with just one healing/protection Monk) farming in Cliffs Of Dohjok to get some drops to build up some cash and the like. Then I intend to move up to a harder area until I am done farming the hardest area and feel I need to move on with the campaign. but here's my questions:

Would you recommend going solo farming with some (or maybe one) healing skill, or would you recommend I take a normal /D build and bring 1 healing monk along with me as I like to get groups of enemy's on me? (Do not ask me why I would need a Healing Monk because I LIKE them there just in case!)
What would be a good solo build that I could use with a D/Mo? You know, one that incorporates a little healing in it or something else.

Just a suggestion, could you split that up before you make everyone's eyes bleed? Might get more help.

Sorry about that, as I was using the schools computers and I was having some serious problems after I typed it up, so I just left it the way it was so I could edit it when I came home. But Thanks...

you should focus on just playing through the game and lvling up ;-) u would get more money from just doing that than farming istan.

quest rewards, mission rewards, random drops, etc.

Ok, here it goes.

PLAY THE F***ING GAME THROUGH, TILL THE END OF THE CAMPAIGN.

You should have enough money to buy tons of stuff, without even farming. I recently went through the starter island up to Pogahn Passage, and I successfully earned about 15k gold, just with quest rewards. Don't tell me you can't replace a friggin major rune that costs like 100g...

If you still persist to farm in the TUTORIAL ISLAND, which is very, very, VERY, VEEERYYYY useless, then go on, but without an elite it's hard to design a farming build for a precise area. Plus, taking someone with you is just plain bad, cause drops will be split in half.

Just to make a comparison, I'd say you're gonna get, for 10hours of farming on the TUTORIAL ISLAND (aka NEWB ISLAND), about 1% of the total gold you would amass just by PLAYING THE GAME THROUGH.

isnt that EXACTLY what he saked you not to do? he may not watn to do the camapign but might want to farm the "noob island" to his heart's content. Its trolls like these that put ppl down that are a problem. Be open minded, he might like that particular area of the game.

But to the OP: i cant help you ive never played as a derv( i personally cant stand them but im being open minded

) but if u need me anytime ig to help out send me a private message here on guru ill be glad to help out a new guy(or returning veteran player xD).

I totally agree with this but since:

I would suggest using a D/Mo 130 variant, since you are not lvl 20 and don't have elite skills you will need to adjust it a bit but it should work fine in those areas... (build is ready in PvX)

Alright, I'm sorry for my post, if you still want to farm in Istan, then I'd suggest going for as many AoE activating skills as possible (like heart of holy flame). Max mysticism. Aggro as much stuff as you can, and use these skills to kill everything around you. As OP suggested, you can use a monk secondary to heal yourself or give you some health regen while aggroing.

I personnally didn't try this method for foes in Mehtani Keys, but lower lvl enemies might die quickly.

Don't forget to open the two free Treasure chests down on the Mehtani Keys areas.

Also, I don't see the point in mixing insignias. You are either going to be hit in a specific area of the body or not. Having half your body in windwalkers doesn't mean you have half the armor when enchanted, it means you have a fractional chance of deriving ANY benefit when hit (the monster may hit a different part of the body where you don't have that insignia).

Definitely dump the major mysticism rune.
