Did this yesterday but i got two shards but i accidently aggroed the skales over to the right (as you can see one of them is close to me) so i picked it up. I use the W/Me Build .

Avaith, did you go completely through the cave of dryders/spiders on your run? Because doing a run every 15 minutes is nearly 15-20 minutes faster than most can do at their best.

I use mending in the build, with 8 points, i just change 1 attack skill (i use the axe build). Its easier with the armored spiders, you only get -1 regen and you can tank longer without using healing signet. Just put mending when you are going to fight those groups, and remove to pull and kill the dryders (ther shatter the enchant).

Most of these builds seem to be pretty conservative, so I thought I would throw in mine:

Axe Mastery, 10 + 3 + 1
Strength 11 + 3
Tactics 11 + 3

and yes thats 3 superior runes, leaving you with 335 health, but its worth it

skill setup:
ive tried all of the factions elites and ive found that triple chop is the most efficient

dolyak signet-with 14 strength it will last 19, 1 second of downtime
frenzy- yes, frenzy
cyclone axe- helps with the larger groups of spiders
triple chop- same as above, more damage, longer recharge
executioners strike- when youre fighting groups of 6 spiders with aoe attacks, this charges up quick not much more to say
healing signet- 137 health with 14 tactics
watch yourself!
sprint

ideally you will be using all 5 superior runes, vigor isnt really required, but everyone should have superior abs. now that its so cheap

weapon doesn't really matter, zealous mod makes things go faster though
shield, all you need is -2 while in a stance

with this build you should try to pull the spiders together, so that they are all being hit by cyclone and triple chop. The best way to do this is using the walls, outside of the cave pull them around the corner, and on the inside of the cave use the small alcoves where they cannot hit you. Most ive killed at once is 3 groups (9 spiders). They die faster than most other builds that ive tried as well.

hey guys,

I've been trying this run and have attempted it 3 times so far, however i am not able to get past the skales and to the cave.

Would anyone be willing to take me along and show me the ropes, especially getting to the cave? (you keep drops [not chests], and i pay for entrance)

Well when your new to it it will take longer for obvious reasons. After you practice so much you could farm in your sleep, thats when you try to lower the time down :-D Congrats though..

A guildie showed me this run just a couple weeks ago. We cleared the beach and had lots of fun doing it. Today I finally got around to trying it by myself. It is quite the rush! I made it to the beach, but a scale got me while I was in the process of taking down a Dryder. I didn't start to run away quite soon enough sadly. I have a feeling with a bit more practice it will be loads of fun with a bit less death. At least I got a shard out of it this time!

So far as I know, yes, I cleared them all. I just got done with a run, clocked it at 23 minutes. As I said, it might just be my luck picking up. However, I am currently waiting for some Driftwoods to get into pulling range (second run tonight) and the Skales are looking at me funny, so this run could take quite a bit more time than my previous ones...

Yea this has happened to me too, sometimes the spawn is so bad that you cant get to a safe spot, not even after sitting there for 30min trying to see the scales routes, because you can't get in far enough to see where the others are.

Sorry, i couldn't read 70-something pages, but i made sure to read the first 5.

My problem is the Skales on the beach BEFORE i even reach the spiders. The first video (the one where the loading screen shows up, then he runs...) ends exactly where im stuck (Not the driftwood and the Dryder, i kill those). The running of the beach.

Any advice?

I'm using the same build as in the original post, except I'm using dragon slash instead of Hundred Blades.

Seems to be working nicely. I'll try using Hundred Blades next run I suppose but I've been loving Dragon Slash ever since I got it.

Not too bad for my first run (still doing it, moving pretty slow) but no shards yet...

Well, it took me a few tries to get it, but I finally got it down. Went 4 times last night and had a blast! I used to do the forest a lot with my ranger just for the challenge of it, but I like doing the spider cave much more than that.

Check out page..75..and a couple pages before that, that is probably the most useful information because of how up to date it is. I posted a few tips on that subject in my quickly made FAQ

I've had many troubles with skales and if you're feeling really lucky and really insane, aggro the shadow army patrol and drag em towards the skales, fun to watch lol. But if you're having trouble with them later on, just wait for them to bunch up when they wander out to the furthest they go.

Thank you Krytas my friends call me crazy when i try my dual aggro for the shadow army/skales. Sometimes it kills ya but other times ohh the enjoyment :P

Iwould recast Live Vic after they rended three times then used HH and got HP back up and then repeated for the scales.
