lol

im finding this run quite easy bar the occasional wandering skale, jus finished doin it and got 4 shards on my run, and 1 at the start of the one before but had to go out so didnt get to do the spiders..

atm im using dolyak sig, watch yourself and phsical resistance for defense. dolyak and phys resis. would prob be cool for spiders but its nice for the first set of driftwood (think thats right!!) that u meet before the dryder because recently ive had the wandering patrol come a lot further down then the first time i done it and it would be nice to be able to run if i see em otherwise they kill me!

In which case you're not using it on the beach, which is when you least want to be using Dolyak Signet - straying Skales are certain death when you're slowed.

You really, really need to get the standard build to work before you start experimenting.

Well I can't test out the original cuz I do not use a sword or zealous mod.

And I am glad you noticed, so are you the designer for those avatars?

There's a successful axe build as well. Sub Dolyak Sig for Phys Res if you don't want to switch to W/Me and put in Balth's Spirit for one of the attack skills if you want to go that way, but in the end you'll find a Zealous mod is much more useful. Energy still isn't a problem, and while it's nice to chuck out an Exe's Strike every other swing, adrenaline really isn't a big issue either. It's better to have the constant gain that you don't need to worry about being stripped. Balth's Spirit is really for builds that use energy skills over adrenal skills, and those builds are all sword-based.

Yeah I just saw a SS of sum1 using phys res, I also tried using glads defence but was still over whelmed because I dont have a armor mod, but I think switching to W/Me will be the best bet.

Great guide Racthoh.

Here is the W/Me build I've been using for this run. I use an IDS with +5 armour and the Desert Collector Shield.

To the Limit!
Power Attack/Hundred Blades {E}
Galrath Slash
Final Thrust
Watch Yourself!
Physical Resistance
Healing Signet
Sprint

I use Sup Tactics and Sup Swords runes.

Inspiration Magic = 5
Strength = 9
Swordsmanship = 10+3
Tactics = 10+3+1

If you can position yourself well you almost fill your adren. skills each time you use "To the Limit!". I usualy aggro 1 or 2 groups at a time because the max bonus from TtL is 6 adren.

This build might not work if you like to go with a chest run group because I find that I always get kicked as a W/Me

ok i guess call me a newb if im wrong, but it seems your attempting to kill a skale right? well life transfer goes like this:
Life Transfer {Elite} - Hex Spell
For 6-11 seconds, target foe suffers health degeneration of 3-7, which you gain as health regeneration.
with 10 energy cost and 30 recharge 2 cast time

wouldn it be more wiser to go with w/e, switchout life transfer for obsidian flesh:
Obsidian Flesh {Elite} - Enchantment Spell
For 8-18 seconds, you gain +20 armor and cannot be the target of enemy Spells, but move 50% slower.

same recharge Less time to cast, lats a bit longer, and invulnerable to spells
but i dunno maybe life transfer is the best, maybe grength's balance even or ranger with troll urgent. mainly i been thinking of ways to be able to take on more then 1 skale, i dont really care about gaining any money, i just wanna be able to clear that whole beach, there must be a way somehow to kill those skales easily and take on more then once, as i can see in that picture it seems the -3 degen would be easier to overcome but the short duration of that -3 and the recharge seem painful as hell, there must be a way to clear that whole beach with a War

Is the first post on this thread still viable for farming the spiders?

yes, the first build is till very viable. the other builds are just other peoples personal builds that they like to use. I can probably show you. but US would need to have favor.

Been using it since the start of October, still using it now. It has gotten easier since my original post since you don't have to worry about the timing against Healing Spring and Flurry is fixed.

I have been running this axe build. told to me by a friend.

cyclone axe
cleave/exe strike
pene blow
dolyak
shields up!
sprint
heal sig
watchful spirit

dont cast watchful until the spiders w/ no dryders around.... makes the degen alot easier... spam heal sig under the shout or dolyak etc. works well IMO

Tried the build for the first time today, its pretty nice good job! I subbed in physical resistance for flurry, but I'm thinking now that it's probably not needed, either that or sub in more swordsmanship for less strength and tactics.

Had a bit of a problem with wandering skales, I'm going to start pulling now instead of just fighting my way in.

May i ask why you brought Glads Defence? seems like a waste of an elite (for this run, anyways) and can easily (and more usefully) be swapped with Shields Up!

with a bit of practice skales are easy to avoid.. 95% of the time i dont even aggro any, jus a little bit of patience and i can time my run past the first lot, then i kill watevas around to clear out the area a bit, then jus run to the left of the rock huggin the wall so i dont aggro the skales that usally sit jus in the water, if theres wandering skales instead again jus timing and if they spot me i sprint away even if its into a dryder because they dont really pose much of a problem, afta that its jus a bit of timing again afta everything bar the skales are killed then ur on the beach..

another thing i done today was to shoot the middle of 3 dryders outside the cave and let them run towards me, when they stop i backed off a little bit and kept doin that until one ran back to its position, when it does that if u walk forward again it comes back to attack u again. At this point jus kill the other 2 dryders and then lead the last dryder away from its original position (because it will prob be further back and this way u dont aggro the spiders til ur ready), if its position was left lead it left and if it was right lead it right.. easy!

yea i agree with lambent glads is prob a waste because they dont do melee damage and it only lasts wat 10 secs?

I finally did a Whole run last night at like 3 am, I had to add in watch your self for flurry, but it took perfect gear to do it.

I had trouble at first trying to kill a huge group stuck together but I had to get the spread out, bit sadly I only mad 6k for 2 1/2 hours.

It get's much faster.

On another note, by using Physical Resistance, I've managed to switch my attributes around to get 16 in sword, without losing anything to my key skills. I'm still using:

Hundred blades, Galrath, Final, Watch Yourself, Phyiscal Resistance, Heal Sig, Sprint and <switch>. I've taught the build to my guildies, and everyone is loving it!

Whoa...this thread made it all the way to the second page. Cant have that...

Yup. It sure does get faster once you get the hang of it. I tried doing this with Dolyak signet and Physical resistance but I find Physical resistance to be much more convenient. With just a few points into inspiration you can make it last around 45 seconds. In that time you should be able to clear close to 2 groups of spiders.

On another note, I finally figured out how to operate gamecam so I will try to host a little movie I made. Just putting some finishing touches on it
