Default Farming - What the **** happened!

We've all noticed recently that Anet is making it MUCH harder to farm.

So I want to ask why? and how far are they willing to go?
I've noticed it become nearly impossible to make money, I went from making 100k+ in about 1-2 hours to now where I can barely scrounge up 20k in an entire day. (with casual farming)
I've also noticed that with they're push to end certain farming builds which, yes I can agree the odd update removing certain builds can help the in-game economy and help to stop bots, but not-so-recently I've noticed Anet has made it almost entirely impossible and pointless to do things like Urgoz's Warren, The Deep, DoA and Slavers Exile the way they were meant to be played, or even at all.
So I suggest if your really want to eliminate farming, make it so no less than 3 people can enter an area, or give us SOMETHING to farm and stop cheap skating us by giving us steadily declining drops to the point where we enter an area, kill 60 guys and get 1 item that's not worth 2 cents.

Edit: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/i...t10428735.html<- I agree with this guy and he's dead on the point as well

Guild Wars was never meant to be farmed.

I agree but it's impossible to have a working trade system or even a game without it and to keep shoving major points where individuals can have fun (referencing previously said elite missions) aside to avoid farming, fine take away farming, but give us back the elite missions as was previously suggested though u conveniently neglected to notice or even reference upon...

As far as I'm concerned, this is what happened BECAUSE of farming. When people have access to easily dropped 'high-end' items they become cheap. When they don't become easy accessible (ie. not farmable), they're truly rare and worth more then those 2 cents. If they have decent stats/skins of course.

Again point missed a little, what I was implying was not rare items, it was the quality of items. no golds, no this, no that, just plain old white items which literally are worth below 50g

Replace "farmed" with "speed cleared" and you'd be more on the money.

There has always been farming in GW, but somewhere along the way it gets slightly modified to make the builds less overpowered. Heck, 55hp builds have worked for years.

I don't think the update had anything to do with the economy or bots.

JimmyTyme, droprates don't change, people just get unlucky. The thing with previous builds is that it would allow players and teams to complete an area so quickly that they could get multiple runs in and therefore improving their chances of good drops. If we're now seeing slower runs and therefore less frequent then the rate in which you make money is also likely to fall.

The best thing you can do is find a new area to farm or come up with a re-worked build like a lot of people have done and then get back into doing what you've enjoyed.

Also what have ANet done that makes doing Urgoz, The Deep, DoA and Slavers impossible?

P.s. BRING BACK URGOZ YOU DOUCHEBAGS!

OR... you could quite whining and sit down and figger out a new build to compensate for the new deficiencies in the old build.

2 words... loot scaling, also if your still in disagreement PM me your in-game name and I'll show you exactly what I mean and if your still unconvinced I'll personally show you 3 additional areas as a small sample of the ones I've encountered

been there lately? tried them lately?
1. major skills that allowed any of the builds to work have been nerfed atleast once.
2. because of said nerfs there's simply no people with which to team up with.
3. The items within them have been so drastically reduced in price that it's deemed ''not worth any attention" by players because of the complete lack of profit and the near-impossible-to-do state that they were left in (only partially applies to SE and DoA)

not bitching, proving point and trying to 'save the game' i wrote this because this is a shortened down version of why more than 3/4 of my friends in the game have simply quit because Anet's too busy trying to balance pvp, and remove farming that they fail to care for certain aspects of the game which have been entirely neglected and the gaming equivalent of left to rot. not to mention... you're an ass and pretty much just simply didn't read the article

I am not sure whether you are doing this on purpose to contradict yourself time after time, but the aforementioned bolded part was caused due to overfarming in the first place. What you ask for is to bring the overfarming back, thus reducing the prices even further.

Had it not been for farming in the first place (or better yet, speedclearing), those areas would still be worth doing, be it money wise or challenge wise.

Also, join an active PvE guild and you will find these areas aren't as bad as they seem.

To be honest, I think there's been a clear polarization in farming. The casual solo rit farms, sandstorm eles, etc... are slowly being phased out while hardcore speedclear guild teams are left in place.

The result: individuals without extensive connections or knowledge are prevented from entering into the farming arena. Its frighteningly similar to what's happened in PvP. However, I won't entirely blame this one on Anet, as this tends to happen as a game nears the end of its' life cycle.

In this case I'm specifically speaking about those particular elite missions which, yes were in the past speed cleared but when it takes the group 1 hour(and up) to complete the thing (again with exception to DoA, which I'm less familiar with) I don't call that a speedclear especially when failures are at a rate of ~30% for urgoz + deep and ~30-40% for SE (in my experience prior to numerous nerfs)
also note I'm ignoring the old fashion VSF's in here but yes I suppose it is a broad statement for such a specific area

Pretty please and by all means, tell me how those areas really were supposed to be played. Please tell me how the latest patch prevents people from playing the game in this "supposed" way.

Completionists only play the game once, people who are out for a challenge also do not play an Elite-Mission every day, because soon that will not be challenging. The only people populating areas in the long term are the farmers, because they are the only people who have a motivation that won't go away.

But the farmers' mentality will always lead them to places where there are drops to be found that people are willing to buy. Then the farmers will grind the area until there is nobody left interested in those items. Hence prices go down. So please tell me, what are those magical places Anet had to artificially deplete and which farmers have not depleted themselves by over-saturating demand?

Simplest and most effective answer I can give you is go to these places, try to assemble a group of people and see if you can possibly succeed, and "the way they were meant to be played" refers to not useing speed clears as farmers so often like to do and instead battling your way through them as a normal group with all classes (or atleast most classes noting urgoz's Thorn wolves doing 300-600dmg per hit making melee useless)

Yes, your arguement does have merit yes it is a good portion of the farmers mentality, but for example Urgoz's warren started off being run by b/p's (barrage/pet rangers, usually R/Mo or R/RT) then with HM it became too difficult to find a group, or even beat it for that matter. Then later people discovered that permasins (w/ bonds) could survive in HM and resulted in once again urgoz returning some did it as a speed clear, others (myself and many friends) did it for fun we did it casually and took our time, took minimum 1 hour or so to complete i personally managed to beat urgoz over 100 times and i still found it to be one of the funnest places in the entire game with the CoP (cry of pain) nerf it declined in # of people and frequency but i was still able to find a few groups here and there and even with the added difficulty which just made it better we succeeded, now not only the SF nerf eliminates a viable tank, but the classes which made it possible to find a group or for that matter beat it in HM even with unparalled difficulty place it back in the realm of near-impossibility

HEY! Don't say that. I totally blame that shit on Anet, lol. It was already declining in price pre-Eotn, then Anet decides "Lets make middle-of-the-road easy to beat ass creatures drop em now!" In addition, on a large scale, lemme add Dwarven Axes.

Again, it is just luck what items you get. Some people have been playing for many hours and still get crappy drops, that's just the way it is.

Loot Scaling effects white items and gold wiki source not any other 'rare' or valuable items. This hasn't effected farming for many years.

1. What builds? Farming builds? How about running a bit more balance and it is actually quite fun as well. Last Sunday I completed The Deep with a team of 6 humans and 6 heroes in 1hour 15mins (with consumables). I haven't done Urgoz for a while but can't think it is any worse than The Deep. DoA can be done as well, we've been doing one area at a time but doing it all would just take longer, FoW is fine as and UW just takes planning. Just because you can't run a gimmick or speed clear in an area doesn't mean it is impossible or not worth it.
2. People not doing areas isn't down to farming updates, a)the game is old and people don't play, b)farming has been so prevalent in some areas teams and players stopped doing them.
3. ANet haven't reduced the price of anything. Demand of items does that and as has been said if they've been overfarmed then the market for items doesn't exist. Also some people complete areas just for the fun and challenge of it, not just for the drops.

In what universe are u playing? Urgoz, the Deep and slavers arent impossible. Our alliance does them all the time, without any specialized builds, we take the ppl that showup for the run. And its still not that hard. Hell we even did Slavers yesterday with 3 dervs, and ive got enough ppl telling me that dervs suck. So how are they impossible? DoA is something special tho
