Default Raptors

Okay so ive recently come back from a year or so long break and im having issues with these guys using an ele similar build to;

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:E/Me..._Raptor_Farmer

and im having real issues, mainly being killed and i cant seem to figure it out.
only difference from when i left is that im no longer using galigords stone staff, as im unable to find a seller and have taken to using a tokem axe, is this my issue? Also i have taken into account that this build or class is now unable to do this, so is it possible with a monk also with the same speed/effectivness?55/600 at my dispoisle.

i'ld also like to add im simply wanting to farm these guys for the cash, the simplisity of the run and speed just appeal to me, if there is a similar or simpler way at another location i would love to here your guys thoughts.

thanks for any advice/suggestions.

Edit; if anyone could provide a way to farm for a galigord i would be forever in your debt

Similar to, Or are using?

This build is still perfectly capable.

Mist form stops all damage-twisting fangs, but not interrupts.

Galigord's

GoS/SF/GoLE/Sliver/EBSoH/SoD/BuH!/Mental Block

Here's a thread offering some insight, but I'm more than happy to review it.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/e...t10360732.html

Basically you will be relying on Mist Form to negate any raptor damage and Sliver Armor to kill them. Raptors can interrupt you, so you need to prevent this.

That basic build is:

[Mantra of Resolve] - prevents interrupts at the cost of energy loss
[Channeling] - Will return energy back to you to compensate.
[Magnetic Aura] - Blocking will further prevent interrupts and prevent energy loss
[Armor of Mist] - A running skill that lasts long enough to get you through the cave

you will cast all 4 of these at the entrance, BEFORE you aggro any raptors.

You will then run through the cave and aggro the raptors. Remember you are vulnerable here and can be hurt. Also you must rely on that running skill to get you around, so don't let it run out.

Aggro the broodmother's group and cast:

[Mist Form] - prevents and attack damage, you will still be hurt by the broothmother's twisting jaws touch skill but you can handle that fine.
[Sliver Armor] - Deals the damage

you will have space for two skills to boost your damage output. In order of preference:

[Ebon Battle Standard of Honor]
[By Ural's Hammer!]
[Intensity]
[Gylph of Elemental Power] (if you end up using this one, cast it at the cave entrance with your other skill there since it lasts a long time)

Most of the time the Broodmother will die first or early. As your skills go out, recast them. You will send out two waves of sliver. Depending on your ranks, you will kill about 28-33 raptors. Pick up your loot and /resign (be sure you walked in and out of Riven Earth twice so that you will always spawn right by the door).

With a superior earth headpiece, I am running 16 earth, 11 water, 5 energy storage, and 5 inspiration.

You must use a +20% enchantment weapon (critical!). You don't need anything fancy like that Galigord's Staff. You can even get a blue earth staff with 5 saurian bones.

A couple points of interest:

- I don't use [Air of Superiority] for raptor farming. Two waves of sliver is just fine for me and I'm not worried about killing the last 2 raptors or so at the expense of a strong damage boosting spell. This should be about a 90 second run or less.

- [Radiation Field] at higher Asuran rank is actually pretty effective. It will cause minor scatter and you will staff them back toward you. With this skill, I will always clear all the raptors.

- [Mindbender] at higher Asuran ranks can last long enough to get you through the cave. The nice thing about Mindbender is that it halves your casting time so interrupts are drastically reduced, so you can probably drop Magnetic Aura and add an extra damage booster.

- You can also take a lesson from the warrior farmers (a much better farm BTW). Bring a paragon with [Vocal was Sogolon], [Enduring Harmony], [Make Haste!], and [Can't Touch This!]. This will clear the need for you taking a running skill and take away that nasty twisting jaws damage. A bit more complicated but once you have the run down, it's really the kick ass way of doing it. So you would have an onslaught of: Ebon Battle Standard of honor, Intensity, AND By Ural's Hammer bringing your sliver hits up in the 60+ range.

Voodoo Rage;

you are briliant, thank you ^^ i shall give this ago tomorrow seeing as its abit late now but i have been using skills at a different time to you so maybe that is the issue, or the fact even though i have channeling on i still lose all energy/get interupted before i can cast sliver/mist

if i was you( im not but this is a suggestion never-the-less ) i would go e/me but with a different build.
i would use [Mantra of Resolve][Stoneflesh Aura][Armor of Earth][Channeling][Magnetic Aura][Ebon Standard Ward thing of Honor][Silver Armor]and [Either Feast]
Earth:16
Energy Storadge:9
Insperation:9( my lst 2 numbers might be off.. but i knwo they blance and leave you w/ an ecess of 7 attribut points xD)

as for a guide on how to do it its preety much the same as the mist form one. You cast all 4 enchants at the start of the cave. You go aggro all the raptors you can( at leas the 2 main groups) then go to rekoff. As soon as it says "Defeat Rekoff Broodmother" cast magnetic aura and if needed stoneflesh. then use EBSoH and silver armor.. and as soon as twisting fangs hits jsut use ether feast if u want. Rekoff should die really fast and all your skills will be renewed.Just rinse and reapeat the last bit zone and repeat. And your done ^_^.
i found it was alot easier then the mist for one( which relied on you killing rekoff and if u didnt ur are screwed). Its alot more forgiving and to em it seems faster.

hope this helps( at last it gives u some variety )

I Don't think much of that wiki build for Raptors.
You might want to take a look here:
Faster E/Me raptors
There's a video there too.

Key points:
1. Use a hero to give you running speed. This frees up a skill slot for more damage buffs.

2. Assign keyboard shortcuts for the hero skills, and to target yourself.

3. Unlike in the video, I run with 12 in water magic (major rune): the extra Mist Form duration makes it easier to keep up your damage buffs, simplifies the casting sequence.

4. Cast Channeling then Magnetic Aura at the entrance. Mantra of Resolve when you're half way through aggroing the cave - so your energy is regen'ed when you start your killing sequence, and the interrupts (energy degen) are hitting you.

5. Make sure you finish aggroing, and get Mist Form up, before Magnetic Aura runs out. Cast Mist Form the instant you stop moving.

6. Make sure you have about 250+ health left before Rekoff hits you with Twisting Jaws.

7. Wand Rekoff to stop her running off. She has to die to recharge your skills for the second cast.

Once Rekoff is dead you can start picking up drops. It's extremely rare that she won't be targetted by Sliver before it runs out, but if the number of kills reaches about 18, and she's still not dead... start picking up any drops because it's probably going to be a failed run.

I'm running with rank 9 Deldrimor, rank 8 Vanguard, and rank 10 Asura. You don't actually need such high ranks, but they will make the runs quicker and more reliable.

Oh, and of course before you start your runs - zone into Riven Earth, then walk back into town. Then every time you /resign at the end of a run, you'll appear in town right in front of the exit.

Also give your para the shout ["Can't Touch This!"]. This will take away Rekoff's twisting jaws.

Yes, that can be helpful, especially when you first start farming Raptors.

However, it can run out before Rekoff reaches you... and actually, once you become experienced, it can be beneficial take a bit of damage while you're aggroing, and let yourself get hit by Twisting Jaws. If you do it right (ie. you don't die, but your health drops below half max)... you'll get double duration on "By Ural's Hammer!"
