The difference is that in PVE, farming doesnt affect anyone else. In PVP it affects quite a lot of people, so there isnt actually anything wrong with it in PVE since its just you vs monsters, but in PVP it obviously becomes a problem due to affecting your whole team.
IWAY is beyond useless against a proper team, Leeching in Random Arenas means you lose, Leeching in HA means you lose, Leeching in GvG means you lose, leeching in AB leads to a losing team or /resign team, or even ragequitters for that matter. Leeching is not a viable way to gain ranks, unlike in PvE where leeching/runs/multi clienting is the simplest way to gain ranks.

I have PvE'd, albeit I spent practically no time in it, aside from that, listening to friends experiences and reading forums I can get a feel for it.

Once again, your comparison is invalid. Fighting a robot in PvE to gain shiny virtual objects is different from beating other players that may be just as skilled as you in PvP. If you find pride in beating 'If 1112334 is Yes, then 135322', thats your thing, but the thing being bitched about and whined about here does not have to do with that. They do have their comparisons, but you have yet to make a valid one.

Im not really trying to compare the two, the PVP issue was raised by someone else not me, But there are people who farm on both sides regardless using any method available.

IWAY was far from beyond uselsss back when it used to hold halls . It was nerfed a long time ago and is useless now, but I were making the comparison to people who used to use it, along with old school Vimway simply to farm fame points, and similarly as people who in fact do AFK in JQ just to farm points.

Indeed it is different, but I am not the one who bought PVP into a PVE discussion. I simply asked if PVPers would use a button for instant PVP points as it was asked if farmers would use one for Ecto, and you went off on the wrong tangent.

Also, if you have spent practically no time in PVE, then why do you need to comment on PVE disscusions? If you dont like PVE then ignore it, but for people who do, let them discuss farming.

I entered this thread in the first place because I like to stalk snaek and realized you took something they said the wrong way so attempted to explain it to you. I did not comment on any PvE discussion that you did not bringup first, you attacked my playing choice (PvP) by using logic from your playing choice (PvE) and flames ensued.

Side Note: JQ and FA is not PvP. Get that out of your head. Its the new FFF that involves a non-existent 'competing' team that only exists when your removing a necros enchantments or interrupting an RoJ.

And saying that leeching is the same as r-spike or any other rigged build is as off as could be. They dont work against good teams. SF and 600/smite worked against all PvE types.

Attempting to act civilized and nice after getting called out on obvious troll like behavior that had nothing to do with the thread and everything to do with me does not in fact make you look like less of an obvious troll rager.

Edit: I thought you were foreign to some of the english language and did not get the point of snaeks post so I attempted to point out the bottom line. I will refrain from attempting to help anyone from now on.

You obviously have an issue with taking everything you read personally, you do seem to think that just about anyone here is attacking you when simply trying to discuss any issue you have typed.

If you cant handle other peoples opinions on what they have read, then you shouldnt try posting on forums. My comments were not aimed at you, nor at anyone who is behind any of the posts here, as you seem to assume.

I simply came back here to discuss the recent farming nerfs in this game as I do enjoy playing PVE in this game. What I am discussing has absolutely nothing to do with you, but with farming in PVE.

I attempted to help you and you flamed me about it, you even attempted to guess that I dont know how fundamental MMO's work because I agree'd that MOST, not all, players in Guild Wars that use farm builds do it to stroke their e-peen and not for personal satisfaction and/or fun as you said. As long as their is a way to prove that one single person is better then the other, it will be used, even if that involves doing repetitive shit in something that I believe is lacking in indication of skill/ability (PvE). Similiar to bashing your keyboard against the wall when pressing any button will give an ecto. Logic being defied by greed and need to be better then someone else.

And when your response to someones post is "lol ur bad at videogames that shouldn't be taken srsly in the first place noob, gaining shit means you win, haven't you even played monopoly the most fundamental board game or diablo?" it is usually taken as an insult. I guess english truely isn't your first language.

Flinging shit at someone usually does imply that they will fling shit back.

Re-read what you just typed and think about it. We shall resume this flaming tomorrow. The correct term is e-thug, g37 0v3r 17 n00b.

I loved to use 600 smite build, I used it to do the one thing that I had really enjoyed, Vanquishing. For me anyway, they have taken the game and made it into something that perhaps they think is fun, but I won't be vanquishing anymore.....thanks Anet!

Its only fun if Anet says its fun.....Keep repeating that, it seems to help.

Never farmed, never felt the need to be that greedy, Necro FoW armour is laughably bad, no titles (cash based after Sweet & Party) I want. I'll be farming for a new game once I get GWAMM.

As a matter of fact, no. Infact, it's not me who toned down those farming builds. It's who developed the game. And yes, they're entitled to do it: it's their game, they decide what game they want to be running, what it's acceptable and what not. So, you can still play what you like, but the mere fact you enjoy something doesn't mean that it is acceptable. Your freedom of choice ends here. Freedom of choice != doing whatever you want.

This theory about "elitists" complaining and getting things nerfed is:

- Immature
- Absurd
- Irrealistic

Hate to quote myself:

Exactly what happened here: they slightly altered one skill used in 600/Smite, yet everyone complains. If Anet really had listened to "elitists", Shadow Form and 600/Smite would have been detonated something like one year ago. They decided not to upset farmers instead. Well, chance missed, since then, "farming" went from one excess to another. Farmers shot themselves in the foot by abusing whatever they could and so setting Anet's alarm bell ringing. Blame the speed-clearers for these nerfs, not some fanciful "elite".

They didn't take your toy away, they didn't destroy farming. They just decided not to accept something that's hardly acceptable in any online game (online being the keyword): skipping content, subverting any game mechanic and taking huge advantages out of gimmicks.

They're not against farming per sè. Farming is still very possible. They stepped in and slowed the pace, since SF and 600/Smite went way throught the roof in this respect and were quite frankly excessive to say the least.

If you want to play a game "as you like" with no interference from the developers or the community whatsoever, well, you need a single-player, offline game. Like Diablo II. Take a character editor, get the best stats and items before you even load up the game and enjoy.

yes, pvp "farmers" do exist--and they are generally disliked by the "real" pvp community, myself included. do you realize how much of the pvp community ridicules shitter (famefarm) builds? i'm not really sure the point you are trying to make is?

money=fun nope money=status

BTW this isnt pro or con anything and isnt aimed at anybody just how I see it.

Lets face it you bought GW, installed it, built a Character, gave it a funny name went throught the start up mission thinking wow I look cool and isnt this fun talked to the gate guy and got dumped in Spamada and realized your in the Lambrogheni club with a rusted pea green pinto. Standing near the chest is a guy with a name like xX SF Bill Gates the sinXx with a panda mini and glowing hands and you started trying to figure out how to make money not play the game.

Your gear and your titles are what your judged by, right or wrong its true. If you dont think so turn off your GWAMM put on some starter armor and see how long it takes to get somebody to ask ya to ping your build much less add ya PVP or PVE. The things on the screen may be pixels but the have real egos behind em and nobody likes to lose, nobody likes to be excluded, and nobody likes to be looked down upon.

So WHY do we farm? Its all about keeping up with the Jonses

Everything you need to equip your characters and heroes to enjoy the rewarding gameplay can be obtained by just playing the game, without farming.

But you'd rather be run through the primary missions, right into the end-area's - and skipping al the content - so you can buy max-stuff and start farming.

And the you complain there is no rewarding gameplay.

Maxed armour is about 5k per piece, plus some materials. Maxed weapons come for about 5k per piece, some with inscriptions, and upgrades can be salvaged from loot. With a very few exceptions, runes can be bought cheaply at the trader.

Except for their skins and their rarity there is nothing about rare weapons that makes them better then those from collecters and crafters.

If you want to farm, that's fine. But don't claim you need it to buy the gear to play the game.
You are focusing on a very narrow minded view on farming, and also misinterpreting what people mean when they say "nice armor/weapons". We are not at all claiming that getting rare skinned weapons or expensive is compulsory to play the game, we are merely trying to explain that the reason people farmed was because they wanted that rare weapon/expensive piece of armor that would make their character look good in their own, and some other people's eyes, and utilised farming methods to speed up the process.

You have to understand that this is like fashion, of course it's not going to actually improve your ability to play the game, but rare weapons and armor will make you look more "attractive", and that people will not want to go through the game over and over again to try and get these high end items, as it will take a ridiculous amount of time.

The first time I saw an everlasting tonic, I just dropped what I was doing and did nothing but non-stop raptor farming because I just HAD to have one. (Of course just like the real world, once you get the shiny little trinket you want, it suddenly ain't so shiny anymore...)

Why We Farm(ed)
Simple because Guildwars has the mechanics to do so. The thought and the ability in a online mmo to do so is why most of us do it. Most games you need parties to complete end game content to achieve any such loot.

Seriously farming is from two things. 1. Is being able to do it solo and keeping the loot all for your self. 2. The only thing left to do is pimp out your toon with rare gear once you have complete the game.

some people like me have a small guild, but dont leave beacuse it is composed of close friends...thing is those friends do different things and play at another time than you,so you either play alone or with other random people.i preffer alone because:

1.Takes to long to look for a party, time i could use farming or actually enjoying the game (be it farming, pvping randomly or whatever)

2.I hate noobs, but i dont have the guts to say whose a noob and why, since i dont know those people.

3.I hate getting called noob because i have *only* 7/8 skills for a build

4.Solo farming is fun FOR ME.

Long story short, not everyone has the same opinion and anet should balance in between (if x build was used in x place, when they nerf it they should make it harder, not impossible)or something like that

So this discussion keeps coming back eh?

Because there is nothing else left to do. Sure, you can say thats bs, but no matter what way you look at anything you do repetitively in GW, its grinding/farming for something
