Has anyone tried Smites recently? I went to the wastes and found it damn near impossible since they changed the functionality of some of their Protection spells to also counter life stealing.

Am I missing something other than running it duo with the Disenchantment spirit?

Mind you, this is just an FYI question, I already know the plains is the best bet for riches.

Another question, I run an UA hero which I keep off compass in case of a snafu. As long as it's off my compass it shouldn't affect my drops right?

Smites are always a problem to kill with a spirit spammer as it can take a while to kill them. Disenchantment does help. Also, make sure ur not using shadowsong as they will heal each other with mend condition.

As for ur hero question, if hes off ur compass then no he won't affect ur drops, although he will most likely cause a problem for ur drops in the chamber since he can't be anywhere else which imo sucks because u can get 2 ectos from just the chamber if ur lucky.

Yeah, I figured as much, luckily I have been getting at least one ecto in the chamber. It's the plains I've been getting screwed on. Hopefully it'll pick up when I go through next time. Although it seems the new A/E plains build is the way to go currently, I still love the SoS build. I just wish Rt's could run around like multiple MM's and have the same build. So what if it's imba!!

Actually, they are really easy if you just spirit kite them. This also keeps your spirits hp up using lux/kurz summon spirit so that you only need to replace spirits when you have to not when you need to. Just keep a eye on the hp and run to another spot to kite. Only down side is if they targeted one smite that was almost dead they usually go to the next one so you are left with alot of low hp smites but otherwise it is pretty effective. Just takes a little more time.

To get to planes do you fight your way there againts the obsidian behemoth or you have to run?

Wouldn't this be extremely good with a r/n toucher and a rt/r or r/rt spirit spammer?

I have actually done some guild runs where we ran a SoS channeling spirit spammer, a new and improved rit lord communing damage spammer, and a greater conflagration touch ranger tank. If the communing rit takes a heal you can clear all areas decent fast with a lot of ecto drops. The quests and dhuum would prove impossible though and even if you get to him it would take forever to kill him.

I've cleared the Ice Wastes a few times with my SoS Rit in the last few days. Its slow and I'm beginning to think not really worth the time taken, but dealing with the smites is not a problem. I set up my 6 spirits, pull the smites with a longbow (trying to pull no more than 3 at a time), hit Armor of Unfeeling & Spiritleech Aura then back off. Then I use Summon Spirits, AoU, SLA, back off, Summon Spirits and so on until half the spirits are gone. Then its time to make a new wall of spirits.

Yes, look at my previous post. It's still possible (after SoS tiny change) its just a litte bit slower. Make sure your Channeling is high and always have AOU up at all times and use SLA whenever its available. Also, it makes it much easier if you set up your spirits first wait till they are half way recharged before you pull.

Love the build, been trying it out with my primary rit in all kinds of areas, there's just one problem I've run into.

Sometimes it will just be impossible to pull the enemies safely if they have the high ground advantage and a skill that will destroy you if they get a single hit off on you. Also, enemies with high ground can attack the spirits without getting close enough for the spirits to fight back.

I guess you could work in a defensive skill using restoration magic to make it easier to survive taking a hit when pulling.

The alternative is to just lay your spirits as close as you dare and hope the enemies wander into them, or if it's a mixed group of enemies wait until they wander around such that the enemies that are the bigger threat are in the back of the group and not close enough to hit you when you pull.

Yeah, but if you use this build(s) enough you know ways around. Bring a longbow and summon spirits. Pull with bow wait till they target your spirits then spirit kite them to you. If they don't have a path down then their is no reason to farm them anyways.....no drops. Also, when i solo i usually bring one healz and drop shadowsong (outside of UW ofcourse). Every now and then your spirits won't hit them cause they are out of range or a bug but you can always reset your spirit wall!

For solo farming, there hasn't really been a change since the spirits were originally buffed. For general use, things such as Soul Twisting and Ritual Lord are viable.

I found Terrorwebs generally a bit fiddly. Spread your spirits out. Try and get them to MS you and then run back past your spirits. That way they'll at least have a chance at surviving. Sometimes they'll kill all your spirits before any of them die, but spirit recharges are decent enough that you can recast before they heal up.
