Default How do YOU farm?

Perhaps I have strange logic, but I've always figured that a) since I'm not 100% ZOMG THIS IS SRS BUSINESS about farming and making bank instantly in GW, b) I'm not very amazing/don't have tons of time to dedicate to learning tons of new builds, c) Lots of people tend to FLOOD to the "best ones", I've kind of made myself into a material trader. At least, half the time. The other half I am farming stuff for holidays.

I guess I kinda figure the more people who do it, the quicker it'll be noticed by Anet and nerfed, so I stick to the "safe" things. I will probably change this soon as I need Vabbian and Obsidian for my HoM ->_<;- but for now I'm just testing out my wammo's old build and using my ele for fun and title snatching.

What about you? Do you go for the newest weapon, for the newest popular green, ecto, obsidian, rubies, anything? Just curious.

I farm for gifts in pre-sear with 1-3 accounts. Sell the goodies in post. Depending on the item and location, will also farm for the Nick items in post.

I zaishen farm for balthazar faction to buy keys. Multiple accounts, 1 doing the work and 2 leeching. Right now I'm using them for the HoM PvP title, but otherwise sell them.

That's it for me, other than cashing in on some z-missions, z-bounties, and WiK bounties.

Farming has different levels - from farming collector items rdy for an event up to farming materials for consets etc.Not all farmers are rich - a huge chunk do small farms and powertrade to get rich.Ive not yet heard of any farmers actually living in uw/fow doing shard/ecto farming as most do just a few runs daily an getting some ectos .
Weapon farming most will say isnt always viable - dyawnas grace used to be a gd farm but amount of runs taken and the few times the green drops dont match ( as with most greens/ectos etc ).When sf got a buff a yr or 2 ago ( before anet realised was op buff ) there was a huge influx of sins who farmed ectos and this caused a price crash ( was funny tbh ) and after they fixed sf the amount of ectos on the market fell an prices rose - quite a lot of ppl managed to farm enough ectos in a few days to get obby armor.
Most pve farms have to be viable and match the time and effort taken - market prices reflect this - look at saphires and rubies which can be hard for the avg farmer .This is where ppl powertrade as its return is higher than spending a few hrs praying the item will salvage into a ruby and not dust.
Probably the only popular farms i do are just feathers and vaetires - tho vaetires only become popular for most players at events and the rest i do are small lil fun runs.My moneys made only from consets and thats only every few months when my cash drops - rest of time i dont seem to buy things so cash stays at a level.
When you hit the stage where a new player in guild hears you have say 700k and call you rich you suddenly realise that 700k isnt rich , you can make that easily in a week of relaxed farming and rich is someone who has several stacks of ectos.Any person can make money fast - even a new player who has played gw for a week or 2.
I think of some farmers as "scouts" - we go out and scout zones , learn foes patrols and whats best to use against them and then that info is used when we team up with others for vq/quests .

Executive Summary: I am a lazy farmer.

My farming these days is with a Ranger Spirit Spam build, aka the Spun Ducky. Or, with my Assassin. Feathers if I need cash, stuff for Nick, or just go out and get some materials and gold just for fun.

I don't think ANet is much interested in nerfing at this stage of the game unless it involved a really serious exploit.

Still trying to decide whether to farm ZKeys or just buy them.

I don't tend to farm, and if I do its usually because I'm working towards a specific goal.

For example, currently I am missing only obsidian armour for my HoM - so, I use my ranger to SoS Spirit spam in UW for Ectos. Although, I've laid off this for the moment whilst I get other titles (cartographer is kicking my ass atm).

Gotten quite used to spanking DoA a few times a day With gem prices anything from 2-5k just one run can be highly profitable.

I tend to exploit the market's current biggest demand. When the HoM Calc hit in, i quickly went to Glint's Challenge and farmed Cloth of the Brotherhood with heroes, henchmen and an additional afking account, before the supply start to meet market's demand and before prices went down a bit. Sold them in seconds for 14-16k each, making enough money to fill my HoM and get my fiancee's GWAMM. Also farming Kamadan, or powertrading, is one of the best ways to quickly get a lot of money - and if you're lucky enough, you may start with 15k in your pocket.
That said, the best way is to observe and exploit the market, either to provide what it demands at the moment and is willing to overpay a lot, or just buy low and sell high.

Apart of that, i sometimes get Nick's gifts on three accounts, though i usually buy the items needed or farm for 7-9 presents rather than 15. I'm just a) too lazy; b) not in need of sweets/party/alco anymore; c) too much of a gambler and i won't sell the presents, will open them instead; d) a bit bitter, since i've never got anything rarer than red rock candy.
If i go farming for nick, it's always a SoS spiritmancer on a primairy mesmer.

I used to farm festival stuff, but never in stacks - i easily got bored after the first stack or less. Also i always thought that there are loads of people farming and selling their items, so that their price will go down for the time of festival - thus it's more convenient to get money faster and buy the sweets i still need rather than farm them slowly myself.
I used to farm raptors with a Me/E on SoI a bit, but spent most of my farm time as E/Me at vaettirs or destroyers.

I try to do Wanted quests along with my fiancee on a daily basis. We have four characters eligible to do it, two characters each, so in theory we can get four Oppressor weapons in 21 days. And since most Wanted quests can be done in 10-20 minutes, it's quite convenient on a longer run.

Thus said, i've never farmed ectos or shards, never had an assassin to run people through or farm dungeons as a permasin, never used monk to 600/smite apart of DSC to max my Kurzick title.

Powertrading is easy cash, but bores me. (got a few opressor weaps 30k each, after hom update sold for 20e each, got divfav froggy for 5k, sold for 30e)

I used to do DoA (cryway, manlyway) which was fun to do. Sadly i dont like the new rolling your face over a keyboard dropping DwG. UWsc is hard to get into unless youre in a guild (show stones bs), but FoWsc is very easy to find a group for. Just look on PvX wiki at the bars, load that exact same bar and people will take you along.

When im bored me and a friend dual spirit farm UW (can be done solo too but is less fun). Just take signet of spirits and a crapload of other spirits, and kill everything

But now finally: my main source of income... Zaishen combat quests. RA zquest gives 3k for 3 wins, CA quest gives 6k for 3 wins, HA gives 9k for 2 wins and GvG gives 9k per win. Do these for a couple of hours and youll quickly be racking up zkeys

almost forgot: i also every week get nicho gifts on 2 accs

Kamadan ad1 is the only place i really farm at, preferably with a beer and some cheesy tv-ma show playing on hulu. It's hard work.

HA day tends to be good farming time for me as well.

Hmm. Yeah, I just got back into the market (Surprisingly NOT because of the new Reward Calculator.. Simply because on a passing whim I decided to see if this puny computer could handle GW... YAY IT CAN...) so I'm having to sort of sift through all the sludge of new crap that's popular, what's coming back to popularity (I imagined consets and granite=<3) I may start farming low level areas for festival stuff again but I usually get bored after a couple of stacks simply because it's not fun. I mean it is at first but it becomes grinding really fast.

I love farming HM hulkings on my wammo though. Occasionally you get golds or a chest, I've even got a black dye and a ruby (each once). tested out the cave trolls yesterday and the minotaurs outside the tooth cave thing in hm the day before, didn't really like either. People are always surprised my build works, I'm always surprised that they're surprised.

I might start minifarming presear, I got a black dye yesterday because I was on my way to fort ranik and I got irritated at a Skale Broodcaller thing attacking me. I hit it like 3 times and WHOA black dye. ^_^ I did some gate monkeying for free/tips, that was fun. It reminded me of why I love being in presear.

other than that I'll probably start vqing Cantha on my wammo and other characters, I need faction for Kurz. i'm at 3.8 mil..... YAAAAAAAAAAAY. I need soooo much stuff though... lol. Well, with armors I just want them cause they're cute But I'm stockpiling all mats I find to sell on a crafting char. Yay mules.
