Default Proph/Factions Assassin Farming Questions

Hi guys. I just returned from a four-five year dormancy, and I wanted to try playing again. Now, given the shiny expansions of Nightfall and EoTN, are there still viable Assassin farming builds using only Factions skills?

Yes, yes, the obvious solution is to 'buy the expansions', but as of the moment, I don't have the money to do so, so I'm stuck with my current Proph/Factions for the foreseeable future.

Help a returnee out, please?

I'm sure there are. PvE-only skills (mainly the EotN/NF ones you lack) are mostly just OP'd versions of already-existing skills.

Here's a simple one to get you started:
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:A/Mo_Flashing_Blades_Farmer
Drop Crit Agility for something else, but in all other cases, yes there probably is.

Check out the archives of all the old builds, specially the outdated ones: http://www.gwpvx.com/Category:Archived_tested_builds

Ah thanks. I've tried out the Flashing Blades Farmer and I find it very useful. Out of curiosity, besides the six Jade Brotherhood Knights near the entrance of Wajjun Bazaar(from the Marketplace), where can I find high concentrations of those guys?

EDIT once more: One final thing - since it's been a while, what should I be looking for when farming these guys?

Bo staffs, Dragon staffs, Bladed shields, those things go for quite a penny with the right stats

By the right stats he means req 8-9 max damage with perfect mods (staves need inherent 20% HSR + the requirement specific 20% HCT (IE if it is req 9 fire magic, a 20% HCT mod to fire magic). That being said, they are extremely rare to find with said stats -- Look out for Bladed Shields with +10 vs demons and a -2/w enchant/stance or +30hp/+45hp w/ stance/enchant.

My question is what are you farming towards however? Is there a goal you are after with the money you make from this?

Add critical defences to the flashing blades build and try farm the "Mr Cho's Estate" mission in hardmode, occasionaly has nice drops and is fun..

this does require you to have prophecies, i do assume you have it?
there is a thread here on guru

add necrotic traversal(or consume corpse=prophecies skill)
and an anti block skill, such as balanced stance, which is core.

Initial goal is to - at the very least - know one dependable farming area so I don't have to worry about gold deficiency for another character that I'm building up.

Besides that, looking to hunt for some Dragon Kamas.

EDIT: I also heard that people buy unidentified golds. Are they often particular with what kind of gold items that they're looking for, or do golden salvage items count for the purposes of sellability? More importantly, I guess - how much do they usually sell for?

Minor problem though - I'll have to get rid of my monk skills for that. Will that be a problem?

Second issue - the link provided has I Am Unstoppable, which I don't have.

Ah, I see. So in this case, I'll be having this skillbar then, if I go A/W

Jagged Strike, Fox Fangs, Death Blossom, Flashing Blades, Critical Defense, Critical Agility, Balanced Stance.

What would be a recommendation for the last slot then, to complete the bar?

consume corpse or necrotic traversal is a MUST, so you can travel forward so togo will survive.

Well then, here's where we have a problem - Balanced stance requires that I go Warrior secondary, thereby locking me out of the Necromancer corpse-travelling skills.

Golds are bought simply for the Wisdom title. The gold in itself doesn't matter as long as it is unidentified. Prices will float around 7 golds for 5k, or something like that. 600-750 apiece.

That's alright. I'll try to see if there are other ways to adjust the build with regards to my limitations.

@Plutoman: By selling un-ID'ed golds, it doesn't matter to them if the items are un-ID'ed weapons, foci, shields, or monster armor?

No. As he said, it doesn't matter what the item itself is as long as it's gold and unidentified.

Right, looks like several of the archived Assassin farming builds have been rendered obsolete by the Shadow Form reworking. And, while the Flashing Blades build was very good, it's useless in spell-heavy farm areas, like Mourning Veil Falls(currently hunting for Darkroot Entrop's daggers). Currently taking a few henchies(Lukas, Danika and Karl) to maximize chances of getting better drops.

Apologies. Forgot to clarify that I opted to take FEWER henchmen than the normal maxed-out party list. If I'm not mistaken, fewer henchmen means more drops for me, compared to a full-henchman party, yes?

In the meantime though, I heard that The Halcyon Job is a rather lucrative farming quest. Is it possible to do so as an Assassin?
