Default Mesmer 105 MoR solo farm (in progress)

DISCLAIMER: This is a build in progress. Every single part of this build is still a sort of beta stage. I'm posting this hoping to get decent (or negative) feedback and see how this can be improved and hopefully be evolved into a mainsteam mesmer farming build. So far I've only tested it on insects, luxon assassins, minotaurs, Jade Brotherhood (haven't gone against necros yet) and a few others with a worthwhile amount of success.

What it is:
This is a farming build that should work on a fair amount of enemies in hard mode that don't have heavy degen, enchantment removal, or the ability to heal large amounts. Basically you're allowed to keep all of the enchants on you permanently with Mantra Of Recovery, and kill with repeated Clumsiness and Wandering Eye. With 105 health you only take 10.5 health every hit since you'll have prot spirit up. The damage is easily mitigated and healed through via SoA and Healing Breeze.
__________________________________________________ ____________

Armor/weapons:
*Caster weapon +20 enchant and +5 energy with illusion focus with hct 10% and hsr 20%.

*Max armor with radiant insignias and 5 superior runes to get you to 105 health. I use an illusion mask for this.

*Note that the focus upgrades are pretty forgiving. As long as you have the caster weapon with +20% enchant and +5 energy and a focus with 12 energy you're fine. The mods are just to complete it a little. By no means necessary.
__________________________________________________ ____________

Skill Set/Attributes:

^The listed attributes there are BEFORE runes.
With runes the attributes are:
Fast Casting - 10+1+3 (Fast Casting Mask and Sup Fast Casting Rune)
Illusion - 8+3
Healing Prayers - 8
Protection Prayers -10
Inspiration - 3 (sup rune, absolutely no relevance to the build as there are no inspiration skills.)
__________________________________________________ ____________

How to:
Start out by casting Essence Bond and Balthazar's Spirit. Before aggroing put up Mantra of Recovery, Prot Spirit, Healing Breeze, and Shield Of Absorption. Cast Clumsiness and Wandering Eye when everything else is on cooldown/doesn't need to be applied yet. ALWAYS keep up Mantra, Prot Spirit, Healing Breeze, and SoA. This build is SO simple once you understand how to keep everything up.

*Note that there is about 1 second maximum of downtime of SoA, and if there's too many enemies it can get hectic, but still manageable.

Final thoughts:
I've spent a while trying to work on this build and I think it really has the potential to become a really viable option for us mesmers. Please people, throw your opinions in here and let's work on this together and help out our fellow mesmer community. PLEASE post in this thread or message me in game. Currently I'm online all day every day. Feel free to talk to me.

Just a quick note: use a headpiece of Fast Casting, that way you can get 10+1+3 FC and 8+3 Illusion, for 14 and 11 instead of 14 and 10.

I like how you use Mantra to maintain SoA .

Seems legit, but why 105hp instead of 55? Just doesn't really make since to me. And also what other areas can this farm?

There's about 1 second of downtime (maximum) on SoA. With 55 health I go down too fast during the 1 sec of downtime. I've tested 55, 105, and 330 and 105 feels just right. As of right now I've only tested what I listed above. Gonna start working on areas such as Cho's Estate and a few other parts of Factions. Might also be worth noting that if there's too much degen, clumsiness can be taken out for mending or something else. Sympathetic Visage would also probably be a better option in some areas.

But with protective spirit it will take you 11 hits to kill you with 55hp and 11 hits to kill you with 105hp... I guess it doesn't really matter and you actually use a useful offhand instead of the -50 cesta.

Nope. I tested it SO many times and the only time I could get it to work is when I used it ALONG with SoA which made the build so much slower since I had to take out clumsiness for it. Replacing SoA with shielding hands just didn't work though. I was taking too many hits/damage and even with Mantra the recharge isn't enough to have it up perma.

I was surprised to see a member of 4 yrs almost come up with something this old - well the actual concept of 105 mes.The one major problem is the same that effects all 55 xx chrs - theres not a lot of places left in gw that are decent farming.
3 yrs ago i was 55 mes farming hulks outside ascalon hm - sadly tho even at that time what was farmable was very limited and even sader is thats why there are hardly any other 55 professions except 55 monk and 55 necro.
The thing to remember is for eg - a 55 mo/d takes almost zero dmg and carries both sh and soa but used to cover each other ( yes even on 55 necro ) but if you have only 1 and the downtime its the small packets of dmg that actually kills you nothing else and its making sure that you can heal past that dmg - 10 foes doing 10 dmg in your case can easily kill you ( as Frost gate guardian has found out ).
Essence bond and bals spirit isnt really needed together - bals spirit id use .. infact id just go standard 55 monk build on mes and maybe only use wastrels demise instead of an elite. When i 55 farm undead outside bergen in hm my bar doesnt change from nm - energy is easy to cope with if you have sense.
Reflecting you could use with standard 55 build with Vor on the spiders with no probs.

Yeah..I agree with it seeming like there aren't a lot of places left that are decent farming. In regards to Balthazar's Spirit and Essence Bond, I feel like I need both of them. Healing Breeze, Prot Spirit, and Clumsiness do all cost 10 energy.

Anyways, I'm going to keep working on mesmer solo farming rigourously until we conjure some build that's able to farm just about anything successfully. My above build may not be it, but a future revision very well may be.

There is no build that can farm just about anything... the closest to it was 600/smite or Perma sin[All before nerfs] with that in mind good luck to you... you will need it... oh and by the way why don't you remove Mantra and put in shielding hands->lower health to 55 and you should not be taking damage and with a perfect caster weapon you can maintain shielding hands and shield of asorbtion... but you have to time it perfectly...

Noting a 55build will get wrecked through Touch skills/Life Stealing/Enchant removal

*Underworld is out of the question Dying nightmares*solo* (have a real person with you and put spell breaker on/ bring mantra of resolve)

*Dervish update has enchant removals so stay away from monsters that have those, and in Eye of the north Lyssa's assault, they will rupt prot spirit

*Another idea you can implement into build is pulling a mob behind a wall and just kill them while you hide behind wall without having the need to use prot spirit etc. unless its a spell caster/warrior/sin .... etc. etc.

Have fun trying to make the bar

Best thing i can think of is to try and find some of the old 55 monk posts - ignore the necro ones as they are more suited to necro rather than monk. This will gave a pure 55 monk base build - then add suitable mes skills replacing a few skills and the posts will also give a better picture of what and where can be farmed.
And Embers right with the eotn part - after the derv update my poor 330rt cant enter battledepths and fight the whisps - they rupt like mad in hm and poor 330rt found it easy to die and hard to cast anything lol.
If you use soa or sh ( forget which it is but someone will say ) as well as essence bond you will have problems - there is a bug where essence bond wont trigger but bals spirit will and thats the actual reason i never use both e/bond and bals spirit on my 55 monk - every so often i will go from +1 +1 nrg to +1 nrg till it runs out.
The most important thing for energy is making sure you dont get stupid near then end of a mob which will cost you energy and after you need to regen.i said earlier my 55 monk doesnt change build for nm > hm where i do recall ages ago it was recomended to add essence bond because of soj kd`s means less hits on you and less energy intake.
If you need energy then maybe dropping essence bond ( you gain +1 nrg regen in doing so ) for a mes energy skill but beware it has to be carefully planned - channelling may seem gd but you have to be surrounded for it to work.

Those are interesting points, I'll give 55 another chance and also work on a few other things and report back with updates.

Also, I had no luck with channeling. Even against a mob of 10-12 I ran out of energy using it :[

600/smiting its still possible... but for those who are really experienced and who likes a lil bit of adventure. i still use 600/smiting religiously and it's nothing different like it was before nerf.

Err quite a bit changed actually on 600/smite and me and guildie saw the differnce when we tried after 6 months monk break.
the 600 isnt any different but holy wrath isnt a bond any more so it means running to your 600 and casting it an running away then repeating - now thats a lot different to parking smites ass way bk and chilling.Tactics also changed - before you cast bonds and find safe place and chill , now you have a smite who has work to do and no chilling.600 also has to alter pulling tactics as he cant do like old days and pull a whole massive mob an sit bk while surrounded - surrounded means smite has a bigger task to cast hw without grabbing aggro etc.

I know it can still be done but it sure as hell changed in a few ways.
Btw i prefered a mes bonder rather than smite bonder :P
Besides this isnt about 600/smite but solo mes - hate it with sidetracking.
Hopefully by weekend i may try and mess around with a few builds and post them but be warned they aint gonna be anything exciting but to show a few ideas for variations so sont expect too much.

For my 55 nec i dont take healing breeze. It is not necessary. I take both SoA and SH making the damage i take 0. Yes it did take some practice because if i didnt have one of them on me at all times i would instantly die. Maybe u can add the mantra to prevent interrupts (sorry idk what its called) and just take out ur elite mantra. That way u will be able to face foes that have interrupts. After all the Elite mantra was only needed to maintain SoA. Even though u lose energy with the interrupt mantra, with bond and baltha your energy should come right up. The interrupt prevention is something 55 nec couldnt do. Makes the 55 mes special :P
