Just the first wave, to take out the loads of Ranger-type Destroyers that are swarming you. After that, just sit back and do something else for about 19 minutes.

But don't forget to come back and loot everything, especially the Chest of the Brotherhood!

How is it that the Ranger destroyers can attack you from like 1.7x the aggro bubble? I don't understand how you guys do the first wave AFK with this...

There's always a Ranger that's barraging you out of range, and so your heroes don't do anything about it. I come back after 20 minutes and find out there's still one stupid thing left from the first wave.

If I set my heroes to aggressive to deal with this problem, then they keep chasing the incoming units in the first wave, and as a result they run out of range of my backline and die. Do I set my backline to aggressive as well or something?...

I have done this about 25 times with heroes, no mercs, its a great thing, 19 minutes it takes me, works a treat- great to do if you're watching a film and want to make about 10K every 20minutes, not a get rich quick kinda thing but still very efective if you want destroyer cores, q8/16 shields, golds and cloths of the brotherhood.

I set all my heroes except Xandra to aggressive, and place my 3 mesmers on each corner of the ledge, and i stand up the baby dragon's nose.

Yeah it's quite helpful, I tried it out yesterday with kinda random heroes and it worked fine. Iiirc I had 3 mesmers, 1mm, 1necro/rt healer, 1sos splinter half healer and 1 necro/mesmer ES nuker. Didn't have much trouble. In wave 1, I used EoE and Winds(since it's mostly ranged mobs, figured it wouldn't hurt) then just picked up loot around/

I would just like to say that you dont need mercs at all for this. I do it in the same amount(if not faster) of time with 2 eles as the e-surge mesmers. I also substitute power drain for AoR and have never lost. done prob 1000+ runs

I recently tried this yesterday and have found some issues. Sometimes when you set your mesmers to attack they go out too far and eventually they may die, othertimes when the destroyerspawns come from behind the 3 mes's on the ledge are too far away so they don't attack and there have been some wipes from me from that. I am researching the sweet spot as we speak. =D

I left everyone but my necro bomber on guard so they wouldn't move, if needed the necro can solo stuff. In general, while the minions will sometimes make the runs slower cause they run off and attack a mob far away from everyone else, they also will aggro everything the heroes wouldn't, which prevent you from getting stuck, as far as I've seen. Definitely not necessary and a liability in some cases, but since you pretty much can't fail with a minion bomber, I'll take 5mins longer runs so I don't have to pay attention.

Another note, the rit will not cast splinter weapon on members that have a spellcasting weapon or are holding a bundle, I suggest an attack skill instead

You can set up EoE at 1:30 or right after flagging - doesnt matter to much in terms of surviving, just makes the first wave a little faster.

Just make sure title is up. Btw, i brought no EOE nor any skill. Just afk and 20 min later it was all cleaned.

PS: when i put my 3 mesmers on agressive, party fails. I now put all of them on guard.

Hero 1 in the middle spot, Hero 2 left hand side, hero 3 right hand side.

All my heros are runed and have green weapons, except hero3 he is only lvl 18 atm and no runes or decent weapons..

Though my runs take a bit longer, 19-20 mins. I find having the minions prove useful to act as a meat shield for the baby dragon when the destroyers come from behind..

Tried this today, have put all heroes to offensive, because if I use your setup, heroes that are set to fight tend to die because they rush like maniacs.

Did one test run, got 23 minutes, 7 dcores (with chest). Not a bad setup, thanks a lot

Ok.

I'm rank 3 and I've gotten it to work 8 times, with around 2 fails. I'm pretty sure I have it down now to where it would always work. I have the necros on Aggressive or whatever it's called, and everyone else on defend. The piece of the puzzle that was giving me problems for a while was I now flag heroes 4-7 right at the baby dragon's head, so they don't run out in front of the mesmers. That has been working very well.

I have done it without displaying the title so it is unnecessary. No mercs but runed heros. Can be done at any rank.
