There was a post on page 11 the 15th one down. He asks if it is profitable to open chests in HM. Answer Nope it is not, well with one exception that I have found since the last time I posted in this forum back in April and it is now November.

That is to say, Boreals Station is still the best place for Solo Hard Mode Chest Runs. Just tweak your build to kill the Snow Wurms one at a time. They can drop 100 gold or items worth 50 gold and up. So buy the Lockpicks at 1250 gold. (go to PvP area its fastest to buy lockpicks).

*NOTE - Snow Wurms Drop Lockpicks in NM or HM

So mathematically speaking when killing the 10 snow wurms in HM, if they all drop something worth 100 gold (on average this happens) and you open the chest and get a gold or purple drop you should, in theory, have enough gold to purchase another lockpick. My retention rate is very low in HM so If I get 2 chests off of one pick then I go...WOOT.

The problem is that in Hard mode you will only get a chest 75%-80% of the time. It is not a bad alternative if you do not have any gold at all.

If I am out of gold I will kill the snow wurms in HM to get the gold and then just go to NM to open the chests once I have enough gold to purchase a small quantity of lockpicks.

Two nights ago I bough another 24 lockpicks for 30K. I have been doing normal mode chest runs with the wurms. I did 5 or 6 runs and then I got bored. I now have 25 lock picks cause I picked up 2 and I kept the one lockpick for 4 runs. Very rare but I'll take the 1000 points of lucky. I have 139,000 more lucky to go for lvl 3 of the title (favored) and I need only open 300 more chests for lvl 5 of the treasure hunter.

Is anyone running with lockpicks in NM in basic areas ( old ascalon or such ) to increase the lucky title ( and maybe the wisdom too for the rare golds that could drop ) ? I tried but can't find any places as viable to run as Poisoned outcrops or Witman's folly are ...

Edit: I Find one if someone is interested : Griffon's Mouth. I do recommend to zone in and out with Deldrimor Bowl, as chests are mostly in the frozen cave ( be ready to encounter some annoying body-blocks, paths are tights and ettins are large and have a natural speed boost imo)

I say run vabbi NM if you will spare some money on lost picks and have a decent retain, i pref. mirrors of lyss. You get to work on 3 titles; treasure, wisdom and luck. Occassional gemmed item to salvage.

With this I usually get 45-60 CPH, with no deaths you can probably get more. There are about 3-5 chests out there and a lot of elite tomes drops. So you will most likely get a lot of your money back.

Build
[Shadow Form][i am unstoppable][Cant Touch this][Godspeed][Fall Back][Dash][Dark Escape][Shadow Refuge] or [Feigned Neutrality]

there is a picture of the chest spawns in this thread somewhere if you want to know.

you really dont need SF up the whole time because there are a lot of monster free places but be careful for oni.

everytime you run into rot wallows cast [cant touch this]
everytime you run into island guardians cast [i am unstoppable]

enjoy and happy chest running.

Yep chestrun, I believe the fastest chestrun with the most chest per time is Fronis Irontoe's Dungeon.

Since now we all can take a Perma to run chests there should be a mid zone with low lvl chest to open it over and over ( Lucky Grind ) any ideas ?. Ascalon Foothills comes to my mind but didnt check.

Did run ascalon foothills quite some time, not worth it though, way to slow to grind for lucky points)

Erm so what do suggest to grind lucky points with CR ? i tested it today and its 1 chest per 1,5-2,5 min , its hella fast . Btw for the TH title still Fronis/Boreal Station/Witmans Folly is the best considering now we can all be perma SF runners ?

fastest is probably gyala hatchery HM from my experience

lucky spawns = 3 minutes for 5 chests or otherwise average 5 minutes per run for 5 chests

Smile Are we more likely to retain if we get purples as drops?

Hi

Haven't noticed this query anywhere else, though there is a possibility that it may be somewhere out there

Due to the movement of chest and wisdom titles to being account based I have started perma running Boreas Seabed (thanks to those that posted previously on this thread). I currently have r3 chest and r2 lucky title bringing me to 53% in normal mode (more after the titles than the drops) for Boreas seabed.

Has anyone noticed that you are more likely to retain with a purple drop/or has anyone proven the statistics?

Attached pic is a lucky run of lockpicks, with the majority showing purple drops.

Thanks.

Yes, I've seen that a lot while chest running, I also love chest running out there in Boreas , Ever since the update I've been have a Jade Sword (Gold) craze, most of them req11+ but still I just love the Jade Sword skin.

@Maccarelly- Have you ever did Boreas (chest run) HM, if you have what is the average # of elite tomes you get out there? (if you know).

Theres no official word on the issue, not as far as I know anyway. I haven't noticed this though, mostly because I always break on purples.

I did initially run Hard mode, but after I broke about 30 lockpicks in about 35 chests (retention 23%) After the 30 lockpicks the drops of note were an Elite Sin tome >.> and a couple of oni daggers. Not that I was looking for immense drops but i'm thinking that the area realises that you are re- entering again and again, thus it figures to put crap in the treasure chests as you aren't actually doing any killing and works out what you are there for. Anet loves game players not farmers.

Hmm, I guess its just my luck then huh, cuz usually after about 30 runs (using about 3 picks everytime with some retains) I have an average of 8-10 elite tomes.

I have pictures saved somewhere let me look though them, No matter what I take pics of everytime I open a chest.
