20% enchantments weapon.

Basically, keep djinn haste up, use dash to break aggro in HM, use deadly+SF while opening chests. Feigned neutrality and Shadow refuge helps a lot against degen hexes. Can use it almost everywhere with a little bit of time practicing
This is actually quite good, I try this even though of the lowered time for shadow form. I might as well do an assassin variation after I have my elementalst get the max treasure hunter title.

Other than that, here are some tips:
  1. Know what skills the enemy use, they may have snares and/or speed buffs
  2. ALWAYS try chest running in normal mode
  3. If you want to increase the lucky title track with lockpicks, then farm low-end chests. In other words, ascalon and shing jea in normal mode, but if you want good loot, then go to hard areas like south shiverpeaks or the luxon area
  4. Find safe spots and avoid popups (if you see a chest with no visible foes around, expect popups)
  5. Check your retain chance when using lockpicks and compare which is better, using a normal key, or a lockpick
  6. Remember, speed buffs and survival is important when chest running
Also, keep in note that since you are running like crazy, you might as well get legendary cartographer.

Does anyone have a build for CR Snowman caves in EoTN HM, i read that it's got alot of chests their.

I wanted to CR to max my title, alternative to witmans which has sucky gold drop rate.

Also does anyone know of a area with a consistent Chest spawns?

And could a warrior run the snowman caves, not using a SF build that is.

I don't really think you could CR Snowman's cave except than going down there and butcher them all
If you don't like Witman, give a try to Mirror of Lyss (NF area), Boreas Seabed (Factions) or Poisoned Outcrops (again NF).

Builds and attributes has nothing to say as your skills will be replaced by the brawling skills. 12 in dagger mastery would help though.

Boreal Station is a pretty easy run, too.

You run to the Worms outside and find 1 and rarely 2 chests there. Then you zone back. I am currently evaluating if it is faster than the Mirror of Lyss. On the other hand I wanted to stop treasure hunting, actually... (max title number of chests takes a lot of time)

Ahh... I see now, Just got Eotn 3 days ago and tryed this out. I got pretty lucky with my one lockpick and got 5 uses out of it with 40% retain rate.
Drops Have been sucky with the one gold Tidal staff and 3 purple canes and water staff.

I guess this is the right thread for this?

I have worked hard to improve my retention rate and am close to both R4 Treasure Hunter and R4 Lucky.

I have been running chests a lot in Normal Mode, Shiverpeak Chests, in Witman's Folly using lockpicks. My retain is 55% and the golds come out at 33%. I have run around 500 chests like this and kept a log of all the RP/BP/RG/BG results. I found that for the first 300-400 everything was *exactly* as per the proportions above.

But now, suddenly, I have noticed some kind of 'anti farm' kick in. Over the last 200 lockpicks I have broken around 70% and the loot from the chests has been 10% gold and 90% purple. This is not just a bad run, it's just BP, BP, BP endlessly now.... I leave it a few days, do some other stuff, and then come back and it's the same.

Maybe this is just the game telling me to go and do something else, but I really wanted to get these titles to a meaningful level as I play a lot of Hard Mode and wanted 30% retain HM and 60% NM. I am also working on the Wisdom track.

Now I see that A-Net has put some invisible anti-farm flag on my account, probably guessing that I am a bot, and I have no idea how to make it go away. This really sucks - A-Net is lying to you about retention rates. It can change whenever they feel like it. And they must HATE chest runners. All I can say now is that it's now costing me too much to continue, and I'm going to have to stop. It's just break, break, break.... and runs of 10-15 purple instead of 1/3 before. I have considered going back to Shiverpeak keys, as a guaranteed loss of 600g is better than a nearly guaranteed loss of 1250g. But the lack of gold is sickening too.

A real shame, as I was actually ENJOYING chest running.

Just wondering whether anyone else has experienced or noticed this?

I noticed the same effect on 55-farming once. After a few runs, there's no golds, nothing decent.

Any idea how I get my luck back to 'normal'?

That Irontoe run is brilliant, I just tried it. When you get to the part with non-hostile stone summits blocking entrance to Frolis, you can go around the one on the far right and solo him. Pretty much guaranteed a chest, an ale, and gold knuckles in a short period of time (whatever they sell for).

Thanks, I had no Idea you could get past the body block! Once in a blue moon the locked chest spawns back there so no more wasted runs .

You obviously haven't run a lot of chests as I describe above.

I am telling you that I recorded the rates and they went from exactly 55%R/33%G to more like 30%R/10%G ... over hundreds of lockpicks. We are talking about statistically significant sample size... I have evidence.

So it's not superstition.

This is exactly why I kept a record.

A statistically significant sample size is over 1500.

Agreed.

I've run close to 7000 chests now, tracking stats for the middle 4000 (after I had my own experience of 'bad runs'). Some days (and weeks) seem bad. Some are great. Some are a mix. I've noticed drop rates and types vary more based on times I'm playing than on how long I've been continuously running in an area. And no, I haven't found that rates are 'better' during off-peak hours, at least not all the time. Some of my best runs have been on Saturday afternoons.

My 2 cents: if you think you're having a bit of consistent luck, then you should keep running until that luck stops.

Default Chest Running?

Is Chest Running usually something that you can make good money on from the chest drops vs cost of keys/lockpicks? Sorry if that is a dumb question I have just never done any kind of chest run

Ive been running a bit in Raisu Palace NM with this build:
[card]Shadow Form[/card][card]Death's Charge[/card][card]Dark Escape[/card][card]Dash[/card][card]Storm Chaser[/card][card]Natural Stride[/card][card]Troll Unguent[/card][card]Feigned Neutrality[/card]

Ive really just been mapping the place out in my head, I know of some of the regular chest spawns (eg, next to Silent Onata etc) but does anyone have a map?

No not really. With elite tomes you usually break-even in Hm, but Normal drops aren't worth the picks.
