for every spell in the game.

see my point?

might as well just put the stonefist on the gloves.
I wouldn't be surprised if a few random AoE spells affected the feet only.

omg that would be a sick mechanic, like if bed of coals only "hit" your feet armor. I'd love to see that in GW2

Are you giving me every single spell because you don't KNOW any spells that hit the Boots 100% of the time? That's a lot of testing to disprove a game mechanic that is well documented - otherwise why the hell would they implement a hit by location system just to override it by having spells target specific armor locations?

Zelgadissan already got pwned thinking this. He fully and freely admits it.

Give me a manageable list of spells, and I will test them. I don't have all the unlocks, nor am I paying for them. But I have played this game for almost 3 years, and I can tell you right now that you are wrong. Armor-ignoring spells don't count, as they totally ignore armor, so there is no way to test where they hit, as they will hit for the same damage no matter what location they hit (which is why armor-ignoring damage owns).

For every skill that ONLY hits the boots, every single time, I'll give you 100k.

For every skill that doesn't ONLY hit the boots, every single time, you give me 10k.

I'll still end up with more cash than you. Because I won't have lost anything. Enjoy farming enough to make it worth my while to disprove your point.

@ anyone wanting to profit off of -Lotus-' idiocy:

Anyone else wanna join in on my side of the bet? I'm gonna need help testing this, and I'll split my profit with you. If I'm wrong, and a spell DOES hit the Boots, the Whole Boots, and Nothing But the Boots, I'll pay the full 100k/skill. I don't expect anyone to cover my ass, but I will split the cash earned when -Lotus- is wrong, which is going to be about as often as humans exhale carbon dioxide.

Good reading comprehension. I'll just repeat everything I said before, try to read it more slowly this time, maybe have your mom explain some of it to you if you still dont understand...

-I do not know of any spells that only hit the boots.
-I do not know that all spells have a chance of hitting each piece (I have not, and do not plan to test every skill in the game, neither have/should you)
-I do know that over the years some players have claimed that some spells only hit the feet.
-I do not know of any tests that have been done to prove or disprove them.
-I do know that you have two pieces of armor with a relatively low hit rate that you must choose between for your stonefist insignia (gloves and boots = 12.5% from attacks each)

-with this information it seems only logical to put the non-armor insignia (stonefist) on the gloves, because if these players are correct, the feet actually have a much higher hit-rate. There is no proof that they are wrong, and no harm done by following what they suggest, so you are better off safe than sorry.

understand?

Helmet has a 12.5% hit rate aswell, just to let you know.

Head - 1/8
Chest - 3/8
Hands - 1/8
Legs - 2/8
Feet - 1/8

PS: I'd be up for testing some of this; not every spell in the game, of course, but maybe spend an hour or two in guild scrimmages nuking each other with different spells and armor setups.

According to ArenaNet, those aren't exactly the hit percentages:

player testing is generally more accurate than Anet. That part about the tall and short monsters is interesting though, I wonder if that's true.

Great, so does that mean character height actually affects armor hit location? Should have dialed up height to max to diminish headshots. Oh, well.

edit: Looks like a dev, Mike O'Brien, put in that hit location table. I'd say that confirms it.

I don't even know where that post is from, but:
1. It was a typo, I can obviously spell tank, I did it in the same post you quoted.
2. Tanks do suck, get a prot monk and some positioning.

There's no need to see you playing... Every tank is bad. Period.

If you want to tank, ask your monk/hero to cast [Protective Spirit] and [Shield of Absorption] on you, and you're done.

[Defy Pain] or [Healing Hands] is srs bsnss

and tanking fails. It has failed since they changed the AI for AoE scatter like... 3 years ago...

@ i sell junk:

Tell us how you "Tank", and we can tell you how it's not working efficiently. If by "Tank" you mean that your inherently high AL allows you to shrug off hits, then it works, if you mean that you are actively using skills to mitigate (instead of CAUSE) damage, then you aren't playing your Warrior effectively.

The truth hurts. Sometimes being a friend means stabbing you in the front. The sooner you get rid of the Wammo-Paladin "Tank" mentality (if that is indeed what you are doing), the sooner you can learn to kick ass and take names the way Balthazar intended you to.

@ -Lotus-:

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The reason Stonefist insignias have the name is because @ launch, the only piece of armor that you could get with this bonus was a set of Gloves called Stonefist Gauntlets. If you didn't have these gloves, you didn't have bonus KD time. When NF came out, and all armor was updated to enable insignias, they had to have SOME name for it, so the name for the insignia remained the same. A lot of people that already had the Gauntlets saw no reason to change the setup, and some that wanted the Stonefist bonus with a different armor kept it on the Gloves of the new armor they upgraded because that was what they were used to.

It's our business since if you truly are "tanking" by running Defy Pain, Endure Pain, blocking stances and such, YOU, sir, give warriors a bad name. The role of warriors isn't only to "tank" by standing frontline, soaking up damage, and doing poor DPS. And now your response will be "uhhh you don't know how much dmg i do i do a lot" or something similar. You're most likely specced so much into "tanking" that you do sht damage. Warriors arguably execute the most DPS of any class, so get out there and actually do something, don't stand there like an idiot. I'm almost sure your "type" believes ES fails in PvE, while it's the opposite.

Use the word "tank" in the Warrior forum and you get jumped. It happens.

uhm.... yeah?... did I say something to indicate that i didn't know this? what's your point? the gloves are still the optimal location for the insignia, that's all i'm saying.

With these Scythe Builds that allow the warrior to put 14 str, would Sentinel's insignia start to shine there? Would it be the optimal choice? (ok, probably not, but I'm just asking lol)

You can if you want to. Personally, the extra HP from Survivor's is the best, since +AL doesn't do jack against armor-ignoring damage/lifesteal.
