Ixnay on [lightning reflexes]. The recharge is too long, and all it really does is prevent you from using more appropriate stances, such as [enraging charge] and [flail] (or [frenzy]). And if you're going to get rid of [lightning reflexes], there's really no reason to be a Ranger anymore.

So...if you're a primary Ranger, why not put together a Ranger bar? A Warrior can do all your Swordsmanship skills better than you can.

Idk, i just try to combine ranger and warrior skills to see if i can get a decent swordfighter out of it.

Really ditch LR? It lasts 20 seconds with 10 seconds recharge with dwarven stability. It will at least save you from a lot of damage from other warriors.

Enraging charge .. adrenaline will build quickly enough with Infuriating heat.. 25% run is fair enough but is it necessary?

Slightly better than 2/3 uptime IAS with 75% block chance to boot and you suggest dropping it? Enraging and flail are gud with zero strength, and as much as I like frenzy there are better options in pve.

Build is pretty mediocre though. /D with a scythe - though overdone - pretty much annihilates this in every way.

Try something like this:
Auspicious Parry
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
(a few melee attacks from tactics, swordsmanship)
And Lightning Reflexes. It's mainly for PvP though, and you're better off with a warrior build anyway.

Enraging gives 0 adrenaline, Flail lasts 1 second after the turret ranger nerf. If you want to talk Strength skills, Sprint would be better than Enraging, longer duration and lower recharge. Frenzy is good, but Dwarven+LR is so much better in PvE.

Archress...wow.

As far as stances go, DS+LR is pretty much the best thing you'll find if you're trying to be a melee Ranger. One thing Paul did get right is that you should just use a Ranger bar, but I've seen much, much worse ways of trying to be a Warrior.

Infuriating Heat is really only worth it if you have a bunch of melees (3-4 minimum) in your team, and even then I would say you should really just bring any hero to do it so that you can concentrating on beating ass with an offensive elite. Any hero you want can bring it since it lasts 30s at 0 Expertise with a 15 recharge. Oh, and run 14 Expertise, not 13.

Thanks for all answers!

What i do is that i just try out new things solo against snow wurms in hell mode. From everything i try, it seems that if you don't use lightning reflexes, you take damage and need healing skills. I'm not at all a seasoned pvp player..

I also tried frenzy, it make you die quickly and i don't understand why melee characters use it. It's costly too unless you use dwarven stability.

The idea behind a couple of the skills - Sun and moon slash gives double adrenaline, and when used with ebon battle standard it does average damage..

I think Zelgadissan got a good suggestion, if i choose to go with r\w in pve (full hench team), leaving infuriating heat to a hench would be better, and take an elite melee. I'm gonna go cap some warrior melee skills now ^^

But in the end i agree, warriors should be better at this than r\w.

sever-gash is of limited use in some areas. Since you have sun and moon, you might want to add whirlwind attack and 100 blades for some AoE damage. I don't think godmode would be viable because of a lack of stonefist gauntlets. Part of me is tempted to tell you to run a cleave-dismember axe build.

Frenzy isn't that bad on a warrior provided they know how to use it and have a good monk in the team.

EDIT: Just did this:

Switched Standing slash with Dragon slash

Sun and moon with Asuran scan

A little insecure about the two last ones, but at present: Serpents quickness and For great justice.

A hammer would probably help more in PvE than a sword. Scythes would work the best, but since this is in the Warrior section, I won't post that.

[build prof=range/warri hammer=12 expert=12+1+1][earth shaker][pulverizing smash][crude swing][whirlwind attack]["On Your Knees!"][lightning reflexes][optional][sunspear rebirth sig][/build]

I'd say never rampage alone is a prime skill for any ranger/warrior setup. It's also great on a W/R using warrior's endurance to recover from the cost.

Rangers are superior to warriors in
-Energy usage and regen for any r/w skill
-In a big way, stances
-Armor vs elemental.

so capitalize.
pet = charm + comfort + never rampage alone + synergies?

now you have ias, and roughly 15dps from the pet

If you want good dodge, go for escape, whirling defense, and even lightning reflexes. Tied to expertise it's already there. Advantage with LR over whirling is the recharge, but 10-11 seconds is not great - but not bad either.

You're meele. You can take a prep to augment your damage - like say apply poison - this will synergize with scavenger's attack from your pet for energy.

ferocious strike is decent giving adr, energy and a pet attack - it's pretty decent compression.

strike as one isn't bad - you'll cause bleed and cripple - that's great if you're a sword user for deep wound AND knee cutter for energy and adrenaline

Team it with toxicity and you can deal a -9 pip degen to poisoned, bleeding foes with a deepwound, while you have 75% block/dodge, blinding, +3 regen and fairly decent adrenaline and energy management to spam a couple attacks.

eg - assuming you've gotten the main 3 skills already, 5 more :
strike as one, knee cutter, gash, galrath slash, lightning reflexes
escape, apply poison, cyclone axe, dismember, [other axe attack]
escape, apply poison, barbarous strike, gash, toxicity

Of course you don't neeed to do degen. But it's one thing you have access to easier over a warrior. And your damage wont match either. Of course, you'll be optimal with fleshy mobs.

Also note - the warrior attacks themselves won't offer anything special to you or your pet. You can go with /a /d or /p instead for alternate attack style. e.g.
escape, golden fox, wild strike, death blossom, option

It's because the double of nothing is still nothing.

In other words: cancel frenzy when you're about to take damage and you'll be fine. In PvE, that doesn't work that well though (chances are high you'll be taking damage), so good prot stuff (spirit bond and protective spirit) is key there.

This.

Sever artery --> gash --> sun and mooon slash is quite a strong spike.

You probably don't need standing slash.

Keep lightning reflexes especially with dwarven stability, but upgrade your expertise to 14. Lightning reflexes is extra good since it's an IAS, rangers in pvp use it because of this dual functionality.

Probably don't need frenzy, but if you want to try it don't forget to bring rush or similar to cancel with as was stated.

Put in for great justice instead of infuriating heat.

Rangers with other weapons are surprisingly practical, especially with the extra armor vs. elemental.

Try an enraged smash thumper in pvp sometime.

Very good advice here! Appreciate it a lot, i've got a lot to work with now!! Wow, guys are experts here ^^
I tried experimenting a little with beast mastery in the beginning, but i didn't get to use it properly. Now i see how to make it useful!

Just one thing i'd like to point out: I took along a warrior hero and gave her Infuriating heat, so that i could use Dragon slash appropriately.

When i used For great justice, i could use Dragon slash every hit, dealing 75-80 damage every slash (depending on if EBSoH were up).

With Infuriating heat, Dragon slash wouldn't recharge every hit! I guess that means that Infuriating won't give as much adrenaline gain as Justice, although it says Doubles adrenaline gain - Justice says 100% more adrenaline... confusing.

Infuriating Heat doesn't double adrenaline gain. It gives 1 extra adrenaline per hit.

Quote:
Does not increase percentage adrenaline as stated, but rather gives one additional adrenaline per attack. Does not stack with other skills that have the same effect.

Oh right. That decreases it's usefulness a bit then xD Then i understand why it should only be used in teams with more warriors..
