If the hero were to do it, you're taking a quarter if it's regen. It's not something they can handle without severely hampering their staying power in a fight. sacrifice a little damage on yourself for staying power and the possibility of keeping others enchanted.
Castigation signet is over an extra 1 pip of regen alone (at 10 smite. Better breakpoints again at 11 and 13) if you meet the condition each time. Granted this is an ideal situation, but it is still very powerful energy management which heroes use relatively effectively.

Options such as the elite Offering of spirit are even more powerful, providing well over 2 pips of regen at a decent investment. A character such as the OoS rit hero I mentioned earlier in this thread is fully capable of maintaining Strength of Honor on 3 frontliners, while having plenty of energy left over for spamming splinter/arage/smites/judge's insight/whatever - all with very little micromanagement.

Running it on a hero you get bigger damage and better ability to manage energy with it. You also have to consider the fact that you're freeing up the elite skill and secondary of the only person with a brain on the team if H/Hing. And if you compare the abilities of a human Erf Shakur to that of an AI one then this is perhaps the most significant advantage of running SoH on a hero.

The W/D build is godly in HM - Nice to consistently hit 1-3 enemies for 60-120 damage, with occasional 240+ crits. My ranger is envious.

I roll with:
[build=OQojExVTKT/XCFQXvlxg2FygXFA]
and discords, nice for most HM stuff.
