Default First entrance into HM

Hey all-

I'm interested in completing all of the campaign missions in HM and possibly vanquishing and I was wondering what team builds you guys would recommend for each/both tasks? I'm, of course, a war primary.

Any help is appreciated!

The easier and common build to run on a warrior is Racway i.e. "my paragon's buddies", which can be found in the Heroes/AI section. Try to do research on a build by running a build through your play style. People are going to say some builds are gimmicky and some are very gimmicky, but my opinion is if it works for you it works for you.

Good luck!

You can also try triple necros, or as it was originally dubbed "Sabway". Sabway works better for a melee human character, as "Discordway" works better for spellcaster human players. Both can be found under the team builds on the pvx wiki site. DONT THINK THOSE BUILDS ARE FINAL. They are merely templates. Work with them and make them your own so that you feel comfortable with it. If you arent the best at tweaking builds, maybe see how the existing build works in situations, then see what you can do to improve it yourself in the future. Good Luck with your titles

There are 4 main preset hero templates.

1: Sabway. It was created with physicals in mind, but I find that it isn't as efficient as the others. I tend to classify it as outdated.
2: Racway. Meh. Never really got it to work. Didn't impress me much, but then maybe I was doing something wrong/testing it in the wrong areas.
3: Discord. People tend to say 'omg omg doesn't work on physicals'. Thats wrong. You just need to throw a spammable hex onto one of the necros, and conditions will be carried by either you or the necros anyway. As long as you use your brain and realise that it is better for you to make your team practically invincible and produce tons of damage is better than trying to spam 3 10 energy spells you'll be fine. Better than the previous 2.
4: Arkfenway/Spiritway. My preference. Spirits are super powerful now and the builds are flexible. The hero professions can also be adapted if you don't have them all. They have room to slot Splinter Weapon as well as a ton of defence (on top of your SY, you're basically unkillable).

I agree with this, a warrior should have enough energy to use Asura Scan, it fuels Discord and also give you a big damage boost.
In terms of conditions, Death Nova on the MM keeps conditions going around, I would carry a few condition skills aswell, Dismember or Sever Artery are pretty good here. They should be on most warrior builds anyway.

Running SY on your bar will greatly help your party in HM.

if it really is your first time, take consumables, makes the run easier and if and when you start to get high on Dp, pop something that removes it, 60% your out

just my 2 cents

You shouldn't need cons except in a couple of areas. Nothing wrong with taking them along incase you get stuck on a healing heavy group or a boss.
DP removal should definately be taken, save it for when you get almost 60'ed, just watch that your "Saftey Hero" who has less DP that everyone else doesnt get ressed mid battle.

From someone whose very close to finish Legendary Guardian and Vanquisher on his warrior:

You can take whatever you want.

First off, Hard Mode isn't really hard if you play carefully and know what you're doing.

Secondly, there's a whole plethora of builds available but you can honestly take what you want. I vanquished all of Elona, Cantha, and 95% of Tyria, and did practically every HM mission using:
- a healing/prot hybrid Monk;
- a Minion Bomber either with some support through Splinter Weapon, added Hex Removel by using a N/Mo and/or Dwayna's Sorrow for some minor healing on the side, and always with Infuse Condition + Foul Feast for heavy condition removal;´
- for the 3rd slot I've been experimenting a lot, but most of the time I brought a Power Block or VoR mesmer that I can micro to deal with some enemy monks. However I also used a custom Paragon a guru user shared with me if you're running a heavy melee team, and a curses necro for some added damage (wich honestly it's not really needed).

Thirdly, your own build is important. I did most of the game using an Earthshaker build (you can find it on PvX just added Enduring Harmony if you don't need your secondary for anything else). Lately I've been using the Godmode build wich is sweet as well. But honestly, you can take whatever you want, it'll work.

So with carefulness and using some brains instead of leeroying to the enemies, it's not a big monster to tackle. I don't use any of those easy mode builds like Discord because it honestly takes the joy off the game and just makes Hard Mode acessible for those that couldn't even play the game through Normal Mode in some areas, trully the noob-mode for PvE. But it's up to you. And btw even with plenty of condition and hex spamming, on a warrior discordway isn't really effective imo.

Btw, don't use cons. You'll just be wasting money on something not really needed, I usually disregard those for the people that either don't care for the money/want it as fast as possible or that HM is too much of a challenge for them without dumbing it down. You'd do well in bringing some DP removal but other than that, just say no.

F necros and spirits.

Bring a support rit/smiter with 10/12/14 in smiting and throw judge's insight+Strength of honor on there along with splinter weapon at 10+channeling. Now you have 21 armor ignoring damage in each attack, and 20% penetration.

Bring two other supports such as song of purification para, earth ele, MM (Le sigh)

With my warrior I have vanquished elona and cantha and about half done with tyria. What I have been using is the basic Sabway with some tweaks for specific areas and then because Vanquishing gets boring I have been running a spirit spammer build with myself as the SOS spammer. I have actually found the spammer to be the best for me but vanquishing gets sooo repetitive I have to switch it up. As stated earlier the biggest thing with HM is just proper pulling.

The one skill that does make some of the bosses easier/faster is Pain Inverter but it can be done without. Oh and always bring Death penalty reducers. It sucks going to an area and finding out you have a not so good build but you are over halfway finished. Can help to save a lot of time. I generally would plan around one hour for each area some may take you much longer such as Joko's domain which is a pain in the ass. Just read Wiki so you know what to expect in foes and total kills it helps a lot. Good Luck
