i chose ranger as my secondary for one reason: serpents quickness. i pump up WS just enough to last how long it takes to spam the spirits i use and the fast recharge on them is a huge bonus.

what ive found so far with ranger secondary is that there are hidden bonuses i didnt think of. trapping around the spirits is pretty viable. beast mastery is pretty cool too- the weapon spells work on pets too and can be used offensively or defensively.

my latest though was brutal weap + barrage. havent had a chance to test it out yet, but it may work. wont be as nice as a R/Rit could make it, but it seems a viable combo.

Rt/Me all the way, at least in PvP, you just got to have that Mantra of Resolve when your doing your 5 sec long binding rituals.

For pve, I was wondering what builds will you usually get in missions easier for near the beginning? I am guessing ritualist/monk for an extra healer, but would ritualist/necro for minions be better?

I'm a Rit/N, and it is a little easier to complete the early missions. Its actually easier in the later mission. The problem with early missions is the low level minions and high costs. Withouth soul reaping and Boon of Creation, you will find that raising minions is expensive. If you get real people to party with you, you'll find that you can MM quite well. You can also life siphon to keep your self healthy and do minor damage to foes.

The good thing about a Rit/Nec is you can play 1 of two rolls. MM or healer (or protector). Once you get to lv 20 and buy skills, then you can become a channeller too. As a Rit/Mo, you don't have divine favor, so your healing powers are not as good (monk side). You won't be a good boon protector, but as a Ritualist, you can be a good Spirit Protector.

To me, a Rit/Mo or Mo/Rit seems to be an overstacking of healing, but that's just my opinion.

Just look at what the ritualist can't do: Run, remove hex, cause health degen, etc.

I never actually tried a Rt/R, but I did notice that weapon spells work on pets. Seemed a little weird. Actually quite weird.

I ended up picking /N, because I was missing my deleted Necromancer.

So far i have found /Me to be the most efficent secondary for my Ritualist

As a Restoration Rit: Plenty of options to deal with Hex's, the Primary skills can deal with conditions, healing and protection so no need to go /Mo. Also Having the option for MoR is always nice

As a Spirit Spammer: Im self Sufficent anyways, no need to lean on the secondary, However Mantra of Resolve is a must have if facing inturrupts with spirits

As a Channeling Rit: Once Again I find myself Self Sufficent

The Nice thing about a Rit (much like a ranger) is that they can fill many roles without touching the secondary

For PvE definitely Rt/Mo. Just because of Rebirth.

Rebirth?

Ritualists have better spells than Rebirth. Granted Rebirth is the only spell so far that can take a character out of agro range that was dead.

If you know how far you need to be when casting, use Restoration spell. Once the spirit dies those in its range, will be brought back to life withe basically 1/2 max hp.

You can also hold GwT and cast Flesh of My Flesh. The raised character will have 1/2 of your max hp. You then drop GwT and basically regain your lost hp.

The people raised by a Ritualist has more hitpoints than those raised by rebirth.

Tranquil Was Tanansen (e) allows ritualists to cast spells without being interupted, as well as increasing their armor

A Restoration/Communion Ritualist can ensure the safety of their party by casting spirits prior to raising. Once raised the spirits can protect the new raised party while they run for cover. Damage reduction is key.

Here's what I've found for myself. I play a spirit spammer almost all the time on my Ritualist. In PvP, I use the Mesmer secondary for Mantra of Concentration, most of the time, it's all I need unless the Ranger is sitting on me. The Mesmer doesn't interrupt me because, in RA at least, I haven't seen many Mesmers carrying their skill interrupts. Sometimes, I'll take the Elementalist secondary for Armor of Earth so I don't get pummeled so much by the Warriors and Assassins. I shouldn't be moving away from my spirits very much, so the slow doesn't really bother me and I can just kite around my spirits, but if there are interrupts, that's it.

Well, reading all of this didn't seem to resolve it for me...

I'm trying to decide between Rt/Me and Rt/N.

I really like my E/Me and my Me/Mo in prophesies, with their ability to cause damage to spell casters, slow skill recharge, and slow movement. The Me/Mo has appeal as a healer - a role I actually enjoy, but consensus here seems to feel Rt/Mo is redundant... ?

I've liked how my N/E can work with minions and steal health.

The highest level of those is 14 though, the E/Me - so I haven't seen the 'end game potential' of any option.

I'm just not sure where to take it with a ritualist.

You are 100% Correct I use a Rit/R simply because I like having a pet. Pets are extremely useful if you know how to use them. If nothing else they can take most of the initial first hand damage off you, since enemies cast on them also.

I started as Rt/N and loved using the minion bomber setup. Though i've changed her to Rt/R. Being able to let you're pet aggro while firing away your weapon spell boosted arrows from you're spirit perch works out pretty well. As far as using barrage, i found that using splinter weapon w/ it can be quite fun on some missions, where you need to draw a clustered mob. its kind of a waste though unless its a big mob.

And what would that accomplish? It doesn't matter what your secondary is if you don't use it. Having a secondary profession doesn't mean you actually have to use skills from that profession. It's simply an option to broaden the gameplay.

I am thinking of making my Ritualist a monk secondary for either spell shield, or spell breaker, also on the off chance of a 55 build for some farming (i farm for me not for money....and been too lazy to get my monk 55'd and into places where i need him bad *cough Ssyn's staff Cough*....most likely ill take spell shield...by the time it end ill have spirits up...or have necessary ones....so the recharge is no bother....and it doesnt waste my elite slot....i dont like interrupts with any caster, let alone ritualist...just my 2 cents-JW
