gogo.
I'll give you one fact and that fact is that in RA I can constantly negate almost all damage with a basic defensive spirit spam build. If you disagree that's your loss, and you can run whatever you prefer to.

I run several builds, but I generally use this one since I don't like being shatter bait, and most of my other spirit builds are too energy intensive to ditch Boon of Creation.

PvE
[skill]brutal weapon[/skill][skill]anguished was lingwah[/skill][skill]signet of binding[/skill][skill]union[/skill][skill]life[/skill][skill]spirit light[/skill][skill]flesh of my flesh[/skill][skill]signet of creation[/skill]

I typically start off by dropping a Pain down somewhere, and then a Union immediately followed by Signet of Creation and Signet of Binding. This gives a massive protection boost, and the duration of Union is gauranteed in areas with low monster density that lack AoE. From that point, I typically just distract the enemy and use Spirit Light on teammates. Brutal Weapon is replaced with Vital Weapon in a team of casters. Spirit Light may be replaced by Mend Body and Soul, in areas with lots of poison or bleeding. If not needing to aid with healing, I cast Brutal Weapon on myself and aid the offense.

Caution should be used with Signet of Creation because it can be a disaster to allied minions.

This is very very true; a good prot monk + the insane heals from a resto rit = the very best team support duo I've ever seen.

[skill]Spirit Rift[/skill][skill]Ancestors' Rage[/skill][skill]Cruel was Daoshen[/skill][skill]Channeling[/skill][skill]Offering of Spirit[/skill][skill]Bloodsong[/skill]Great Dwarf Armor

Insane AoE spike from Spirit Rift > Ancestors Rage > drop Cruel was Daoshen ashes. With Channeling you can spam them back to back with the occasional Offering of Spirit without ever running dry.
