If your where going for a spirit/minion build the N/Rit would be better because of the Soul Reaping.

Rit/E might be ok because direct rit dmg is mostly lighting dmg, so adding a few air spells (lightning) and a glyph might be ok.

I have a wonderful Rit/N. She can be support or pure channeler, or pure communion, or pure restorer, or become MM or Cure and blood, etc.

With Boon of Creation, you gain health and energy from each minion or spirit that you create. Throw Explosive Growth too and you do damage for each spirit or minion you create.

Mesmers or monks are fine because they can remove hexes (ritualists can't). Mesmers can also cast spells to help you manage your energy, if you can cap Offering of Blood or Well of Power, then there are more energy management skills that you can get as a Necromancer. Rangers have spirits that work with Ritualist and have stances to boot. Warriors are good for their stances and are good with Ritualist's weapons spells. Assassins can teleport.

As darrylhaines said, you can have an elementalist to diversify the types of elemental damage you do. Also they have glyphs for energy management.

Hope this helps you decide.

Probably because I'm a noob but I have a R/N build and in PvE I never load any of my N skills... I just hit level 19 last night and was wondering if maybe I'm a dork?

Usually, no always play, "pain, Boon of Creation, Doom, Armor of Unfeeling, Bloodsong, Disenchantment, Union, and Mend Body and Soul..."

I normally group with my Son an Assasin and we have henchmen to fill out a group of eight... Is my skill selection okay?

If you choose not to use any of your secondary profession skills, thats your decision. Is it wise, sometimes it is. Does this make you a dork? No.

Your choice of skills seem to be a little bit of everything. You have Communion, Spawning, Restoration and I think Armor of Unfeeling (is that a necro skill?)

Try going only for two attributes, like Communion and Restoration. That way, you can have protection with healing. This should keep you and your son safe.

Diversifying yourself too much does not allow you to take full advantage of your skills.

Even a ritualist / monk can be a heavy damage disher:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Rt/Any_Spirit_Bomber

With any secondary class, you will probably find yourself 6/8th or more ritualist, and 1 or 2 skills to the secondary.

Which secondary you choose thus ends up mattering a lot less than it does for most classes - it ends up being a filler most of the time. As a result the choice becomes all that much harder... Because there are no obvious answers.

I myself went Ritualist / Monk - and the only monk skill I've used is ressurect. Perhaps the build above would have been better with Mesmer or Necromancer, but then I would be using my last skill slot for 'flesh of my flesh' and I'd only be getting one skill out of the secondary (and I still might swap out ressurect for flesh of my flesh or one of the other ritualist ressurection skills)... so, does it really matter? Probably not, which is why my character was 12 hours old before I was finally able to decide, and the biggest reason I picked monk was because I did that secondary quest last...

If you wanna use your secondary, see the Explosive Growth MM build in the Rit Build Directory.

I had gone, elementalist secondary from the start for the ele ward spells, mostly as defense for me, my spirits, and the monks who are generally, near me.. Now I think about it, was it a good idea? Who knows, but it certainly worked well enough until I got up to around the senjis to change my secondary.. Which I still haven't done.

I started off with a Rt/E and used Ward vs Melee, which went ok. But now I'm pure Rt on my bar, with /Me for versatility in different game types. Mainly for Mantra of Concentration and Mantra of Resolve to prevent interrupts, and Arcane Echo for when I'm Channelling.

Hey, i was searchin around on google for a good second proffession for my Ritualist because my original proffessions were Ritualist/Assassin. I hate it. This is my first character (i only have prophecies and factions) and i thought being the two newest things would be cool. Unfortunatly, i couldnt be more wrong. I clicked on the top link when i searched "good 2nd proffession for ritualist" and i got here. I really like the idea of a Rt/N because i like minions and this is the second time ive heard someone say its a good build. One of the guild members in my guilds alliance said a Rt/N was good aswell. So i thank you becauase you have made up my mind....im changing my 2nd profession from Rt/A to Rt/N. Just one more question though, since this is my first character...wat is a good build for this combonation. (Skills & Attributes) Post me a reply.

Thanks,

Or add me on GW, my character's name is Sscare Y.

WARNING!

Requires micro-managing and top-notch mouse aiming. If you're not so good at that, then just stick with Rit primary skills.

No profession needs a secondary to function. The only variable is the user's playstyle, so you're gonna have to figure that out for yourself.

Or you need Eye of the North and a Necro Hero. Why micro and mouse-aim when you can make the AI do it? They're getting better all the time, honest! XD In the meantime, you can put all those fun PVE-only skills on your bar and kick butt.
