If I were making a bow based rit for JQ/FA/AB I would make a build around Incendiary Arrows + Apply Poison + Brutal Weapon. High amounts of constantly appliable degen over a wide area works very well in PvP areas where you aren't going to find any serious condition removal. Should handle excellently for soloing any number of NPC's out of their range and for the 50v50 player clusterf**ks that happen all the time. I ran a very similar build as a ranger primary, you are going to be a bit more tight on energy without expertise but it should still be quite workable and effective.

Sounds nifty. Maybe a half way decent reason for me to put points into communing after 2+ years of not even touching it! o_o

Just curious, how many points did you put into wilderness survival?

I have no problems - just swap to zealous bow when necessary... I pretty much keep [Ebon Battle Standard of Honor] and [Pain Inverter] up indefinitely (e.g. whenever cooldown expires)...

EDIT: my original PvE build was included. Here's the laughable PvP build I came up with (works OK...):
[build=OggkcZZboJuEixjRF4iRxh0EjBGD]

EDIT2: Remember, that Expertise doesn't lower the mana cost for those 2 EotN skills... so that's 20 mana every 20 seconds (leverage the zealous on 3+ mob groups).

Well, as I said I ran it as a ranger primary. I wasn't using brutal at all, I split between expertise/wilderness/marksman. Now, you definitely want max wilderness, thats the breakpoint for 3 seconds of burning, meaning an extra 14 damage over r11. Rest of points would be best split between communing and marksman. Not having expertise hurts your energy a bit, just make sure you are ready to recast your buffs as soon as they go off, apply poison is going to be doing half the damage. Swap to a zealous bow when firing off Incendiary Arrows, it helps recoup most of the energy.

The skill set I would use is :
[Incendiary Arrows] AoE degen obviously
[distracting shot] Every one using ranger should have this
[Apply Poison] Moar degen
[Brutal Weapon] Decent damage buff
[Serpents Quickness] I like to use Incendiary Arrows. A lot.
[Natural Stride] Keeping your distance is a good idea.
[Pain] Noone in low level PvP goes after spirits. If pain is left alive the whole time, it does 1000 armor ignoring damage. For 5 energy. Yeah.
[Troll Unguent] Best self heal you can get easily. Don't want to be degened to death yourself do you?

Remember that your main priority is just to degen the hell out of anyone. Aim for NPC's first and players who either don't have self heals or are already under pressure second. The build is very useful in FA/JQ, a little less so in AB because its main strength is winning a long, extended battle with a large number of players (ie, what you shouldn't be doing there). It is nice in AB just to spray enemy teams with degen from longbow range where they can't reach you though.

Basically the only difference between your rt/r and my r should be that you keep brutal weapon up, while I have extra energy to spam pin down where you really can't do that. Pin down is really nice in AB but the builds would perform about equal in FA/JQ.

The spirit could be subbed for Savage shot or a +damage skill like Hunter's Shot or Sloth Hunter's Shot.

Heh, that busted me up inside!!!

So, is there some template/macro to convert the GW template to [][][][][][][][] skills?

I started with:
[build=OggkclZKoGeEixjRF4iRxh0Ejh6E]
before going to splinter (mostly for the PvE+PvP venues).

I used to use this degen PvP build for sh!z&giglz:
[build=OgUTcVMmZCx4xwJQ3q4w3w36SEA]
but I like your adds from the Rit tree(s)...
Even when the opponent had condition removal skills, they were mostly shut down into a cure self/non-mobile state with this build...

I honestly wouldn't recommend savage or sloth unless you have lots of practice playing the build.

With this build you aren't going to want to get near enemies (since using Natural Stride to evade enemies cancels Serpent's quickness) so you aren't going to be able to reflex enemies skills well with savage shot from max range. The 10 energy requirement is kinda harsh too, if you aren't really watching its easy to get jumpy trying to interrupt a skill and then not have enough energy for your apply poison for 10 seconds, which sucks.

Sloth hunter's is decent to finish off a spike, but again it costs alot and incendiary will be able to put out the same amount of damage over 3 seconds of degen, in an AoE, for less energy, and recharges in 3 seconds with serpent's. If it was high level PvP where spikes were more important I would go for it, but not in low level PvP.

Hunter's shot is a decent enough swap if you are good at hitting players on the move, but Pain is really nice as a fire and forget thing that noone in FA will ever think to go after. Hunter's would probably work better in AB.

There's some way, I can't remember how at the moment though because I'm usually posting builds on the fly and my templates folder has so much crap in it I don't bother to find anything in there now.

Bingo - thx!

The "quote" parse code here is apparently 1 level after the original text ([build=...]), so you never see the 0xFFFFFFFF but rather the [skill1][skill2][..]..[..] which is no help in formatting...
