Their animation is even worse then their outfit. Doing spastical moves for 3 to 5 seconds to summon some bound spirit? Really?

Mesmers have style. Ritualists are just glorified bushmen.
Finally! Someone with some understanding of style. Well, female Mesmers maybe. Male Mesmers look too... put it this way I'm not like that.

@Risus: That is quite hard to believe. It'd help fuel the belief that your build really does have that kind of efficiency if you post the build.

If by stylish you mean looking like a nigerian RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO, then yes, mesmers females are stylish in a good 80% of their outfits. If I wanted a sexy/bitchy looking character (as much as pixels are sexy) I'd take an ele then. And btw majority of ritualists faces are ugly but mainly because they are limited to only 1 expansion pack selection, trust me if we wanted to limit mesmer faces to prophecies only you'll save 1-2 faces. Honestly ritualist armors are more exotic/different/original than all the other classes, maybe only ele has the same variety of armor, on the same level of quality I'd put paragon female fow armor and monk male primeval.

I have several major Rt/A builds that can spike 500 AoE dmg to Nearby range within 3 seconds. If that is worthless, tell me what isn't?
It isn't because for starters you're running with 16 channeling and thus <600hp,
2nd because nearby range means that with a 60AL char you will get insta-killed
3rd because a 600hp spike ain't armor ignoring, thus hm mobs will just laugh at it when you will deal in the best case scenario 250dmg and proceed raping you.

Uhm yes, of cause. Female Mesmers. I try to forget that there is another kind. I see male Mesmers als "balace in the force". Female Mesmers are the uber styled awesome character in GW. They had to balance it out by giving male Mesmers a look as ...good... as the Warriors to make the Mesmer class overall comparable to all the others.

Saying that n/rt is always better then rt/x is just wrong. The only time you would want to take n/rt is if you are having energy management problems. I'm not belittling this factor, as energy is a crucial part to any build. Yet, a rit primary will be better for a large amount of builds. Really the only times i would take the easy energy mangement over the higher attributes is when i'm going resto. Yet, you also have to consider that in order to get decent energy management from a necro primary, you must pour a substantial amound of atribute points into soul reaping, subtracting from your other atributes.

Overall, to answer your question rit primaries are not useless. Go rt/x if you want more potent skills, and n/rt if you want to be able to use more skills.

I'd like to point out that while OoS is elite, I don't have to spend extra attribute points for it like I would with SR ( since I'm already specing into Channeling for damage). A small consolation perhaps, but a Rt/n with easy energy is comparable if not equal to a N/rt with easy energy in terms of utility and damage. And there's enough really good non-elite skills in channeling and curses to fill a bar and make it good.

Also, being able to have energy when I need it seems way better than waiting for something to die fifteen seconds from now.

Does any player actually play a N/rt anyway? I always assumed it was just for heroes...

What do you call a ritualist with a shovel in his head? Doug. Now they're a joke.

Regarding the rit primary vs secondary. Rt/X gets to use secondary skills and gets a 14 spec splinter, N/Rt gets to use their elite for something other than energy management... Horses for courses really.

What do you call a ritualist with the shovel removed? Douglas.

Indeed.
If we're talking about decent players: Rt/x > N/Rt
Talking about spam-happy, energy burning heroes: Rt/x < N/Rt

A necro speccing 9 into SR in PvE is a bad necro.

Or a necro who wants two other lines to be at a decent level
As N/Rt you want Channeling (Splinter Weapon) and Restoration (all the healing) to be as high as possible. SR on 8 is just fine for that (without items/runes).

Rits are the ultimate utility class. I can't think of another class where you can dish out straight up damage, boost other peoples damage, provide party heals and support without even tapping into your secondary.

Hi! I'm a useless skill that does the following.
I heal a random party member that could be at full health.
I don't use spirit range, no you have to be in the area.
My best healing every 4 seconds is 122 while [[spirit [email protected]] does it better.
To top that off, I make [[healing [email protected]] look good.

Yes, but a final number of 9SR on a necromancer sucks.
