Default New Ranger

So I used to play, and now I am starting again, and figure i will just start fresh, because for the first time i will have a machine that can handle it really well, and on top of that I feel I will now have the time to dedicate to it.

So I figure I should pick a class to start as, and my first thought has been Warrior, simply because I like a lot of there skills, but Im starting to think that I would more enjoy the versatility of a Ranger. I could take warior Secondary to crave my hammer needs worse comes to worse, lol.

So here comes my question, what kind of builds would be most effective for PvE?

Keep in mind for the first while I wont be playing with other players, mostly just me and Henchmen. Unless I can find a way to change the e-mail on my Factions acount, than its Just Prophecies and Eye Of The North.

So can anyone help me?

Well, a general build should be something like this:

Two/three attacks
One/two interrupt(s)
Preparation (assuming you don't use Barrage or Volley)
Evasion/Running skill
Self-Heal

for pve, and you only having proph/eotn, you're kind of limited (like you didn't already know that ^^)
some people like to run barrage builds
[card]Barrage[/card] [card]Savage Shot[/card] [card]Distracting Shot[/card] conjure flame/frost/lightening, and whatever you please.

you can also have a [card]Fevered Dreams[/card] build; mostly all you need is a lot of conditions, so things like [card]Pin Down[/card] , [card]Concussion Shot[/card] , and [card]Apply Poison[/card] and of course [card]Distracting Shot[/card] and [card]Savage Shot[/card]

beyond those, you might be able to come up with a build for [card]Poison Arrow[/card]
there is also a trapper for solo farming.

i didn't use any of the eotn skills either because i don't have it and don't know...but some of those can go better than some of the skills listed above.

Um.. Great Dwarf Weapon with Barrage and Conjure Flame.. put Mark of Rodgort on an elementalist hero.

You always want those 2 interrupts unless you're plagued with terrible lag. (Savage and Distracting Shot)
I find it best to always have at least 1 other ranger on your team to keep up Favorable Winds.
You can also share other spirits like Winnowing, though I don't do that very often at all.
Lightning Reflexes and Throw Dirt are good skills to put into those extra spaces, since most ranger builds are only a few skills.
For example, you have a standard burning arrow build.

BA, Apply Poison, Savage, Distracting, Natural Stride, Troll Unguent, Mending Touch, optional

You have your elite, your prep, the 2 interrupts, and basically 4 open slots.
You can make any ranger a decent build by adding Apply Poison and Savage+Distracting.

Barrage is the exception since it removes preparations.
You might also want to look into "Dodge This!" and Rapid Fire since you do have eye of the north.

As for a hammer ranger, your best bet will be with Lightning Reflexes and "On Your Knees!".
You get the evade you need to be on the front lines, plus a constant 33% attack speed boost. Add hammer attacks and you're good. Expert Focus helps a lot since you can only get 12 hammer mastery. Add that in too.
