What's the best farm/ other way of making money as a pve ranger? It would help if you could ping a build for it too. Ty in advance.

farm the lb/ss path in Sulfurous Wastes as a foursome with you and 3 heros. fast cash. helps to have the quests as you also have the chance at elite tomes to flog.

You don't, thanks to the nerf to Splinter Weapon.

Here is the PvX Wiki page on all working farming builds. You can browse through the Ranger ones and find out for yourself how truly unequipped we are for this job.

you can go with a full party, less drops but faster runs. safer too, bring lockpicks.

if you're not doing this in HM, you're wasting time and losing loot (ss/lb pts if you're not max too). At the end, there's one of those keyless chests, so this run is great for farming gold/ss/lb. horribly repetitive though.

remember to get the quests =] i'm missing the one with the statues.

You can always do the stoneflesh barrage build.
1. stone striker
2. stoneflesh
3. barrage
4. troll
the other four slots are up to you. vamp string makes runs faster, but i always find i need a zealous bow to keep enchants up and spam barrage.

I'm a bit confused. In the LB/SS Sulfurous Waste farming run there is no need for Splinter Weapon, stoneflesh barrage build, or ANY skills as it is done totally in a wurm. Or am I missing something in those replys?

you are missing something.

The two posts arent about the same thing, Shayne Hawkes is regarding splinter barrage farming and the others are regarding SS/LB farming.

Most of those builds (under Ranger anyways) are outdated, ineffective or obsolete.

To be honest your best bet of making money on your Ranger is one of 2 things...

a) Play through Eye of the North, the amount of cash you get from quest rewards is rather pleasing and Dungeons can provide a decent source of income from Onyx, to Diamonds, to Golds/Greens. Can really help to get the money in your pocket.

b) The other way would be to PvP lots, or do the Xulina Tournament House, buy shatloads of Zaishen Keys and sell them off. Or I suppose you could use them and try and sell the drops but I find it a lot more worthwhile selling the keys for silly people who are after an Eternal Blade.

Ranger's really aren't good for farming. There might be a few builds you could use to earn a few gold here and there but there's nothing solid like a 55 monk or anything along those lines.

Didn't know that. I never tried farming with my ranger, because it's going fine with my ele.

What about trapping boss hunters? Are they no longer liked?
I haven't even capped the skills needed for 1 on my ranger, are they outdated already

Well the nerf to EW has hurt trapping lots, its still do-able as i've done it myself but Green Weapons aren't really worth the hassle in my eyes.

Just do a few dungeons instead lol

Oh, I wasn't even referring to a build with EW, I was going for one that uses [skill=text]Toxicity[/skill] to achieve 5+2+3=10 degen for 40ish seconds, plus the damage a mob takes when you train it trough your traps.

I guess trappers died because trapping in hard mode doesn't work.

Duo trapping should work though and while the drop's might not be all your's is more fun with a friend ^^

Remember that the duration cap on conditions is 30 seconds

I still see people doing UW trapper teams I think sometimes... that's probably the best money you can make as a ranger.

I solo farmed the FoW Forest to get enough cash(around 90%, I did the remaining 10% on my Assassin) for my Obsidian armor, it took a while but it's not hard once you get the hang of it.

the only PvE I have, or have ever really had is a Ranger, never had money issues.

I'm trying to fill the stupid HoM atm and having no trouble, 15k armor here, destroyer weapon there. And I'm, 80% PvP, just frm whne bored or team mates arent on.
