This is what I've got so far:

Using a Zealous Flatbow to keep the energy going.

Yeah, I held about 70 DPS when firing, and spiked for over 400 damage in 2 seconds with Forked/Penetrating/Sundering/Punishing under 33% IAS. It definitely has boosted ranger spike capacity and DPS, though to fully take advantage of it one does drop some interrupting/flexibility. Still, it's fun to spike people out in seconds, from long range. Btw, Flail works for the IAS and costs no energy.

I doubt we'll see Rangers make a HA comeback with these buffs.

I find them weak to be honest and couldn't see any of the buffed skills making thier way towards my skill bar.

EDIT: Also never use Frenzy on a Ranger. Flail is ok, but bring NS to cancel.

I am particularly enjoying the new buff to [skill=text]Precision Shot[/skill].

Its unblockable and with the decreased activation time the easily interupted element is rarely a problem. Its a great way to get a condition on a target.

It's fun with SHS, P/S attack and ofcourse, rapid fire with a vamp 15^50 hornbow

Here's a build I've been having great success with for AB'ing...

[skill]distracting shot[/skill][skill]savage shot[/skill][skill]sundering attack[/skill][skill]penetrating attack[/skill][skill]pin down[/skill][skill]read the wind[/skill][skill]restful breeze[/skill][skill]escape[/skill]

Expertise: 12+2
Marksmanship: 12+2+1

It's energy heavy, but for the most part, I have the energy when I need it. I'm toying with the idea of removing distracting shot.

I think I'm going to put needling shot in for distracting shot. Always been curious to try out that skill.

Would needling shot have that much to add to PA and ZS to warrant removing distracting shot?

You can spike faster than netniwk posted; that's Forked/Penetrating/Sundering/Punishing on a Vamp Hornbow under 33% IAS with FW/Expert Focus up. I got lucky and squeezed into the 2 second bracket, it generally says 3 seconds, so I'm guessing it's 2.8 seconds or something, and that if you start/stop at the right times you can get it to report 2 seconds rather than 3. It's still a lot of damage pretty fast.

In other news [skill]Quick shot[/skill] Has thus been nerfed by neglect due to this update and requires a buff.

Oops ...
Forked/Sundering/Penetrating/Quick under LR, RtW andWinnowing using a Hornbow with Vamp string: Average 1132 in 11 seconds, Peak 208 in one second, Death in 5 seconds

But I suppose there were some lucky criticals. With Punishing rather then Quick Shot and the addition of FW it seems to settle at an ~100 HP/sec on average, death in 7~8 seconds and peaks in excess of 200 HP in one second.

Cute.

Edit: Btw, anyone tried adding JI?

Test it like 3 times at least to avoid criticals ruining it.

I like to test it 10 times but im strange lol

I find it highly unlikely that QS does more DPS than PS, considering it has bonus damage and a quicker cast time. *shrugs*

[skill]Quick shot[/skill][skill]Sundering attack[/skill][skill]Penetrating attack[/skill][skill]Expert focus[/skill] with 15 marks & 15 expertise & zealous hornbow.

The damage is 67dps (I worked it out, not master of damage tests) against 60 armour. You can maintain this damage output for well over 24 seconds and reapply expert focus providing you hit.

It'll definately be higher with extra buffs. If you're lucky, you can deal 111 damage against 60 armour with sundering/penetrating + experts focus.

It leaves 4 spare slots which is handy for utility skills.

Quickshot definately has it's uses, however sundering & penetrating both need a nerf.

I dunno, that's what I want to find out.

This is for AB, btw. Been working on finally getting R1 Kurzick, heh.

No way in hell would I remove distracting anywhere else.

I don't focus as much on interupts in AB and usually only use savage as a spike.
