So after giving it a whirl (and killing all but him) I had a few questions.

So is the point to poison Rajazan and make him bleed then take off running? then rinse and repeat again?

Use these on your bar:

Zojun's Haste
Dodge
Storm Chaser
Troll Unguent
Seeking Arrows
Poison Arrow {E}
Hunter's Shot
Pin Down

Get the following bows:
Poisoner's Longbow (I like Elswyth's Longbow)
Crippling Longbow (I like Chehbaba's Longbow)

Attributes:

14 Expertise
11 Wilderness Survival
11 Marksmanship

Equip the poisoner's bow. Kill the mob in this order:
1 - Assassin - Beware she can cripple you with her attacks. If that happens you're done.
2 - Warrior
3 - Deathhand/Ritualist - your call Beware The Deathhand will plague touch off conditions. Don't cripple until you're very good at this solo.
4 - Ritualist/Deathhand - your call

Technique:
1 - Seeking Arrows
2 - Poison Arrow
3 - Hunter's Shot as foe moves toward you.
4 - Zojun's Haste/Dodge to sprint away.
5 - Repeat (can be 2x - 3x per foe.)

Equip the crippling bow and go for Rajazan.
Technique:
1 - Pin Down
2 - Hunter's Shot as he moves to you
3 - Poison Arrow
4 - Move away until he starts to go back to his spawn point.
5 - Repeat 2 - 4 until Pin Down recharges.
6 - Repeat 1 - 5 until he's dead.

The crippling bow is nice because it give's Rajazan only 1 second of normal speed movement between recharges of Pin Down. That's a very comfortable way to plink at him until he's dead. Beware Rajazan can Plague Touch off any condition. Do not let him get anywhere near you when he's crippled or you will be crippled, poisoned and bleeding while he swings his sword and does Unholy Feast.

Sadly, I've soloed him about 50 times and only gotten one drop of his sword. I'm going to have to move to another area for a while as it seems I'm just getting crap drops even though I haven't seen the farming code warning.

I think I'll give it a try with pin down rather than barbed trap! And No.. plague touch was not my friend! :\

As you get better you'll sometimes be able to pull Rajazan out of the mob w/o aggro'ing the entire mob. This is a lot faster than killing the entire mob. I'll typically try and pull him out before killing the whole mob just to see if it's possilbe.

It takes me about 1-2 minutes average to pull him out with my assassin, trick is this: when he is closer to you than the rest of his group, aggro him and walk back, the whole group will follow but they will drop before rajazan. If this doesn't work, try this, use a speed buff and wait untill it has 3 seconds left. Then aggro rajazan and start running away. The whole group stops following because you run fast, but then when you move slower again, only rajazan follows you.

Thats how I do it...

If you don't get any drops, its because of the anti-farm code of Anet, so don't kill him when he doesn't has his sword equiped...

No.

He will drop the sword even when he doesn't have it equipped. The problem is that his drop rate is very low. I've gone at least 200 times over the period of a month and gotten the sword twice.

I do not over farm this guy. My method is to rotate through all my farming areas doing a total of 5 runs in each. That way the farming code never hits.

Everyone seems to agree that the run is a monster. If you're still having trouble getting to him, give my build a try:

Expertise: 13 (mask and superior rune)
Wilderness Survival: 10(minor rune)
Marksmanship: 13 (minor rune)

Zojun's Haste
Dodge
Escape {E}
Troll Unguent
Hunter's Shot
Pin Down
Apply Poison
Favorable Winds

Even though its the slowest of the three, Escape is your primary run buff due to its higher evade than Zojun and Dodge and it works on Melee attacks too, nice in that opening gauntlet. I do NOT endorse Storm Chaser for this run. Even though it gives you a 31 second buff window, it has no evasion so you get hammered when you apply. Stick to the Dodge/Zojun combo if you refuse to "waste" your elite slot on a hard run; they run you faster (33% as opposed to 25%) and reduce your overall damage recieved.

Cycling these 3 run skills you should only have to stop once, at the rez shrine, for a quick Troll Unguent (or while the monk heals you if you’re aligned to her) then its back to the races.

Hug the wall to avoid the dragons and run past Rajazan’s group and into your safety niche to drop Favorable. I like FW since it gives my longbow arrows more speed, meaning less chance to dodge or evade them (and an extra 6 dmg an arrow doesn’t hurt). Now it’s a question of Rajazan’s placement. If he’s far enough away from his group, you can usually pull him with a quick poisoned (apply poison first) Pin Down. Alternate Hunter’s shot with Pin Down and he’ll spend all his time walking to and away from you until he’s dead. If he gets too close, kite him with Dodge/Zojun, but keep him close enough to hit so he doesn’t re-enter the fold. 3 run buffs I can apply any time=I didn’t have to worry about Plague touch at all.

That’s the fastest kill. If he’s sticking to his team, kill Displacement (NOTE: attacking displacement or other spirits outside agro range with a longbow/flatbow does NOT cause the mob to train on you. You're killing a spirit and its health is seperate from the group and so NOT monitored by the AI team. Stay out of agro; you can shoot it dead and they won't care) and the rit that drops it, the Assassin next and players choice until Rajazan's alone with a lather-rinse-repeat of Pin Down/Hunter’s/ run kite to apply poison and drop FW again if you need.

FYI: old hand SF farmer here saying that whether the boss is holding the weapon or not does not guarantee a drop no drop. I got my Razorstone from Tanzit while he was holding his Cleaver (feel free to tell me how much THAT sucked!), and I have killed Brohn while holding his staff I don't know HOW MANY times, but the green still elludes me. Favor does have some effect on drop ratios. If your country of orgin does not have favor, consider waiting to farm.

Otherwise, just be patient and run the farm. He'll drop it...eventually.

i did 30 runs as A/R...got not a single thing, 3 scrolls was the highlight of the runs all in all...and i don't think that compensates....i think maybe the drops were nerfed

the A/R build posted at guildwiki is actually a really nice guide. I followed that (repelaced the elite with palm strike) and I can generally make it to rajazan no problem. Pulling him out remains the biggest headache but its certianly doable. I have gotto 2 fervor after like... >50 runs. Not a very profitiable run considering the time spend on it and the sword is only worth around 20k. better off farming somewhere else and just buy the sword.

Just did it 10x no sword yet. The strategy here definetly works timing on the runs is important but it's quite straight forward. I'd use Read the Wind instead of Death's Charge as you don't need it for the run once your decent at it. And it helps take the boss and his bodyguards down x3 faster. I used a flatbow too so any bow so long as it's not a short bow should work.

The sword is a very good alternative to the Totem Axe for Farming Monks. Not to mention it looks much better.

It dropped for me after a while. Around 15+ runs so hardly worth doing it for money. Glad I farmed it for my monk though.

It depends on the amount of months, 6 months is death.
