You really don't need to do all that extra work anyways, pets will kill you in one hit regardless of armor, as long as you have less than 10hp at 60dp. That means you would have to sit there and actually help the process. If you do it right, you won't have to do anything besides go afk for 35 minutes, then tame your lvl 20 pet.

Once your down to 60dp, and got the right combination of runes to have your health at around 7hp... you don't have to take off armor, if you do it will only make the whole thing take longer by needing to get hit a few more times before pet can kill you. 7hp with Max armor and even getting healed by monk wouldn't keep you alive for more than 1 hit. Aslong as you get killed in one hit your all set...

And "Lost" was a re-run tonight/this week. I think the series finale was last week, im not sure next week is also a damn re-run.

I realize that Rez, the point was that it doesn't matter who the pet-to-be is attacking or if they are attacking at all, if someone dies it gets experience. It was in response to your post saying that you didn't think that they got experience for your death unless they had hit you once, doesnt matter, tested. Context are good. One doesn't need to do anything as you say of course, but as an old school ranger I prefer to be an active part of the training process. My choice of course, and not the path for everyone.

Hmm, so this is what people meant by death leveling...I had no idea. I death leveled an eagle yesterday, but my way was simpler...my guy is a Ranger, and I basically found a corner, and flagged my hero (Dunkoro) there, disabled all skills except for resurrect and had him put mending on himself. Then i just took my armor off, aggroed an eagle, got the eagle between me and dunkoro, so after I died, the eagle attacked Dunkoro, but didn't do any damage because he was lvl 20, set to avoid combat, and had mending on him. So after I died, he used resurrect and my health was only at about 48 or so when I revived because of my DP and the 25% health thing of resurrect. After the eagle got to lvl 15, cuz i didn't have any time, I enabled all of Dunkoro's skills, and when I revived, I didn't have so little health that I would die immediately, and Dunkoro healed me...this took about 45min, and eagle got to Dire.

Well if you were to do it this way, you could have had a lvl 20 dire pet in lil as 35 minutes. You took 45 minutes to get to lvl 15, so in less time you could have had a lvl 20

That's true. Your way is faster. Don't dampen my spirits though, I figured it out all by myself, which is a first.

I think that is only when res'd at a Shrine. If you have someone with 1hp and you try to res them with a spell, they will most likely die immediately upon bein res'd. Maybe unless you got Resurrection chant... Im not sure. But if you die immediately from being rez'd without pet killing you, I don't think they will get exp.

Exclamation

Update: I think I made a few errors in my guide, I am going do some testing and make sure everything is right. I will also make a note about Dervish and their inherent health from armors. I am also gonna put in a example skill template for your heros. Will update it as soon as I do some testing.

Everything is now updated and fixed. Enjoy.

Still doin some further testing. I claimed it can be done in 35 minutes, but last 2 times I've leveled a pet it took nearly 60 minutes for some reason. I do remember the process only takin around 35-40 minutes though. Not sure what I doing different that would cause this, only thing I have been doin different is taking a Mesmer faster caster instead of the monk. Maybe I'll have to test it with good ol' monk see if there is any difference. Maybe the Fast Casting Mesmer is causing a problem, but not exactly sure how or why it would.
