Something I was thinking about - apologies if it's been done before but I just made a ranger a week ago.

[build prof=R/Rt marks=10+1+2 exp=11+1 channeling=10][Glass Arrows][Nightmare Weapon][Triple Shot (Kurzick)][Needling Shot][Distracting Shot][Savage Shot][Lightning Reflexes][Flesh of My Flesh][/build]
I'm not obsessed with Savage Shot or Lightning Reflexes so those could be changed out. The basic idea is Glass Arrows->Nightmare->Triple Shot (assuming that the bonus damage from Glass Arrows is sent in a separate packet) for an early spike, then spam Needling once the target's below 50%. On a boss you could probably hit Nightmare/Triple Shot again since the recharge on them is the same.

Again, this is just a thought, I'm curious to see what you all think about this since it's my first Ranger build attempt.

Rather than use Needling Shot, I'd switch it out for Sloth Hunter's Shot or another +damage attack skill. I've found stuff doesn't stick around much after <50%.

And instead of Flesh of My Flesh, I'd use [Death Pact Signet]

You might also try playing with Spinter Shot as an alternative to Nightmare weapon. It's a different philosophy, and you might find it works better in some situations.

I didn't think about the breakpoints. I was just thinking about how to get the most bang for my buck, metaphorically speaking. I'll take a look at some of those other skills, too.

I'm pretty sure I was mistaken on the break points. It shows 11+1 on your build, which would be 12 total expertise and that meets the 10 energy skill breakpoint. I think I just saw the 11 and jumped the gun on that one.

Glass arrow isn't its own independent packet. You can use Ignite Arrows though.

After I thought about it, I realized that it doesn't make a huge difference. Glass Arrows lasts long enough that timing the cast isn't a problem. I'll still get ~100 life stealing up front, then if I throw in [Sloth Hunter's Shot] targets should still go down pretty quickly.

Im not a fan of Sloth Hunters for pve. I often find myself using my other skills more.

Just wondering but what is your rank in your allegiance at?

It's nowhere yet, since I've never really gotten into farming faction. But I could easily HFFF a couple of ranks.

I've been playing with a build similar to that, but I've actually opted for conjure skills over any ritualist skills, I guess just because they're maintainable. Also, I personally prefer Sloth Hunter's Shot over Needling Shot, but you could probably do pretty well with either.

Wouldn't hurt to get a few ranks in it. After all it would help your build and give you some gold.

@goodapollo- I often find myself only using 1 interrupt in PvE mainly distracting because I spam my skills for stuff to die.

Needling shot isn't half bad with glass arrows.

I did screw around with the glass arrows idea with triple shot when I had my other ranger just been to lazy to go around and recap all of the elites. But it is a fun build to play with to break the barrage or BHA+volley trend every now and then. Forgot all about it thanks crimson think I will go recap glass arrows and play with it some more.

Hehe, no problem. I'm still only level 10 or so and not out of Ascalon yet, so I've got a while until I get access to Triple Shot.

If you notice that the bow attacks in her bar are 1 sec or less activation... I would leave needling in there and use a hornbow with 15^50 and either sundering or vamp... You get an automatic 10% armor pen from hornbow without the long activation time, since it is overwritten by the bow attacks you chose. There are other attacks like that, including sundering shot and penetrating shot and power shot (I think). But anyway.. needling at the end of that chain turns you into a rapid fire endless chain sniper.

Now... put Asuran Scan just before the attacks and you will take down a single target with numbers you haven't seen before with your ranger... like Menzes dead in 4 hits or less. I realize you are in Ascalon.. that suggestion is for the others.

Haha! Well I had a 50/50 shot.. and since you are "just here to look pretty," I figured female character. Besides, the Sci-Fi fans will point out that gender specificity will someday be unnecessary in most conversation.

I'm not too keen on Glass Arrows. Is it to provide extra damage? If so, why not make do with something like kindle arrows to alleviate the elite skill space?

Also, would Serpent's Quickness help at all?

P.S. How do you add skills in your message? Or a skill bar for that matter?

Glass Arrows adds bonus damage, which ignores armor, unlike Kindle Arrows.

Skills are added by using by sandwiching the skill name with brackets (the [ and ] on your keyboard).

Example: Placing them around say Distracting Shot gives you this [Distracting Shot]
