Default Marksman/BM hybrid

I'm really interested in trying a marksmanship/beastmaster hybrid build in pvp. some things ive tried before were with:
[read the wind][melandrus shot][savage shot][poisonous bite][scavenger strike][feral aggression][run as one][charm animal]

Has any1 had any luck in using these types of hybrid builds b/c they seem really fun and effective.

Any non-fail marksmen have:

Savage shot
Dshot

Any non-fail bms have:

Otygu's Cry
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal

Including a rez sig and a preperation, thats 7 slots gone right there. you also need lightning reflexes or Natural stride to be a qualified marksman (yes i did just say this). There goes 8 slots.

Sorry, not possible.

way to freaking conform and be narrow minded... this is the reason why many ppl feel pvp/pve builds are constrained and few, it's players having a mindset like this, not Anet lacking to change skills. Where's the opportunity or window to be creative.

Restrictive Terms used: "non-fail", "need", "qualified marksman", "not possible"...

I'm looking at the whole of this response that frustrates me, not any specific element.

As for OP, i see where you're going, and it's creative, just need to make it more effective, or potent. I'm not a BM ranger regularly in pvp so I wouldn't know much.

@wetwillyhip: As has been said as infinitum other places, if you want to have fun, run what you want. If you want to be effective, you have to chose one thing or another, as far as running a pet is concerned. Original can be good, but around here, 9 out of 10 original is code for crap. I think bad's point is that you can't be a good beastmaster AND a good ranger. You sacrifice mediocrity in one for success in the other. It's why the most popular builds with a pet involve a hammer or a spear. With either you can put pressure on a foe, while being able to make your pet more useful than just a corpse for the necro to exploit.

@OP: [skill]heal as one[/skill] is great for combining a heal and getting rid of [skill]Comfort Animal[/skill]. [skill]never rampage alone[/skill] is nice for an IAS and heal, and will always be decent as sunspear rank is easy to get. The second skill allows you to add pet elite [skill]ferocious strike[/skill], which gives decent damage and fuels your spear/hammer. Throw in [skill]otyugh's cry[/skill] and a condition attack for the critter, and you have him covered.

Honestly, though, if you are going to run the Beastmaster, leave the bow at home. A spear will give great IAS and pressure, and a hammer will keep your guy dazed/KD while your pet has dinner. The point of running a pet is to add one to your party, not make yourself an aside while Fido becomes the wannabe warrior. With either weapon, your pet and you can double team. With a bow, you will either gimp yourself or your pet.

Way to read that this was for a type of pvp.

To the OP, beastmaster builds need most if not every slot to be effective. Really the only way I could see you wielding a bow is to be a full beastmaster and wield a bow to use [distracting shot].

In my experience, you're better off using your pet as energy management through [[scavenger strike] than throwing in more pet attacks and pet buffs. but even that equates to using three skill slots (comfort, charm, and ss) to gain about 9 energy every ten seconds. Even a cracked armor skill and [[body shot] would use less skills and attribute points.

you CAN get decent damage, from yourself AND pet, but you will be killing versatility.
e.g.
glass arrows
zojun's shot
point blank shot

charm and comfort animal

pick 3 :
otu's for no block,
call of prot for damage reduction
predator's pounce for some damage.
poisonous bite and scavengers
feral rage
Or 2 and get your head bitten off for not bringing a rez, or go do AB.
in pve I'd pick 2 and go for never rampage alone (it is a pve forum :P)

Or if you want to do more than straight dps,
assume you've got charm and comfort, since that's a given.

strike as one - cripple and bleeding prep.
crossfire - unblockable since your pet is next to the foe.
otu's if you want the pet to not miss too.
apply poison for an easy 4 degen.
scavenger's for energy if needed
toxicity if you want (9 degen p+b - or just 6 continuous from tab spacing :P)
hunter's shot so you can cause bleeding more often than just strike as one.
distracting shot - cause it's aweful nice to stab a monk in the mouth as they're saying "word of ..uck".

Drop a couple skills and hf spreading conditions faster than chicks on broadway.

Best Beastmaster with a bow I ever ran in pvp was:

[Marauder's Shot][Savage Shot][distracting shot][Enraged Lunge][Otyugh's Cry][charm animal][comfort animal][resurrection signet] or [run as one] if it's FA/AB/JQ and no res is needed.

You get speed, whupass, your pet actually hurts stuff, you have a hard hit with marauder+savage with D shot in reserve. Since they whacked RtW not many of the marksman preps apeal to me so I just skip it in this case. Before I used to put RtW where d-shot was, and just used savage to catch what I could. If you have to have one, try disrupting accuracy , experts focus or rapid fire where Dshot is.
