I decided to try using Pyre as a Beastmaster Hero with my Ritualist casting Great Dwarf Weapon (R10) on his Dire Black Wolf; I was very satisfied w/ the results.

I believe I've found my new tank.

Unfortunately for my Ranger, heroes can't use GDW. For now I'll have to make a hotkey for my Ritualist Hero to use Splinter weapon on my Ranger's Dire White Wolf. I'll probably end up replacing Predator's Pounce w/ Melandru's Assualt for more AoE damage, though I'll need to do some more testing.

Edit: Actually, after examining the Weapons Spell list I think Brutal Weapon could make for a good substitute as none of my heroes have party-wide enchantments, nor do they seem to cast enchantments on any pets.

If it's a hero beast build, scavenger strike won't be used unless micro'd (or the only pet attack on the bar.)

Not entirely sure how true that is, even if stated on the wiki; I just did another run (replaced Predator's Pounce w/ Melandru's Assault) and here are my results:

I let the battle drag on for more than twice the original time (to see if Pyre's energy would deplete) and not only did he keep his energy up, he did almost three times the amount of damage compared to the first test.

Pyre's energy never fell below 10, as he would execute Scavenger Strike when his energy reached about 25% (gave him a +20e staff, so 1/4 of 45 is about 11-12).

This however, could be attributed to one of several things: I'm experiencing an isolated incident, the person who made the wiki note wasn't using his hero right, or that the wiki's note is outdated and has since been fixed w/ an update. Either way it seems as though my hero uses the build to it's fullest potential. If someone else wants to test it to verify, that would be appreciated!

Heroes use it just fine, just ran a test with pyre and he uses it, frequently. One of the problems with the official wiki is the nonsense that is sometimes allowed to exist there unchallenged, always cross-check against the unofficial wiki. Fixed it.

Excellent! Not having to micro manage a 2nd hero will help my battles to flow a lot smoother; thanks for verifying the skill functions properly when used by a hero!

I just click the aggressive/lock on mode in the pet window every time you switch targets. It takes some getting used to, but after some repetition it'll become second nature

This is the results of the Master of Damage using this build

I tested twice to get a better average result.

I'm using a Opp spear of fortitude and my vanguard and luxon ranks are 6 , so the damage could be higher with a vamp or furious mod and/or higher rank.
