Default 098 Remedial Dragon Slaying.

I've been beating my head against RotScale off an on for a few days now, looked into various Wiki's and Vids; with not much luck. Someone seems to have some luck with A Broadhead Ranger but did not go into any detail how they managed the drop.

Honestly I can't see how s/he did that because even with a long bow, a 12 Marksmanship, and targeting one of the Edge guys my Rangers dead before she gets off her first shot; their range advantage is just overwhelming. Which makes pulling all but impossible. Oh sure I can get them to shake and bake pretty good. I've even killed the monks a few times, but I've never once pulled one of the Dragons more than 1/2 half way down the steps; and Why should they move when they can bomb 3/4 the length of the bridge from their perch.

The only success I've had has been with Ele's bombing the edges, but never enough to spike one; and sooner or later my Ele Hero jumps in close and commits Suicide.

I've seen several Vids; but they always involve Rits, or Assassins, or obviously post prophecies skills like Ray of Judgment. It seems to me Rot's a Prophecies Mob; Taking him down should properly have a Prophecies Solution.
Any thoughts in that way would be appreciated.

Anyone Succeed in bringing him down without any Post Prophecies Skills or Classes (Hero's are inevitable, but besides that cheat.) Please share a little bit about how you managed it; I would be really interested if it can be done. I Tend to run a physicals heavy team so if you've mangage it with a Warrior Led team I would be interested in how you pulled it off.

No post Prophecies Anwsers please.

Blessings, BB.

Here's your Prophecies solution:
[stolen from a thread from only when Prophecies was around]
1 Bonder/with 2 interrupts
1 Shield of J. Healer
1 SS necro
2 warriors/frenzy and full dmg skills

You at least realize that Prophecies/somewhatFactions was when GW had it's largest, and most player-friendly community, I hope?

I'll have to revisit that - I did try Obsidian Flesh, but I might note have had the right supporting skills; Deep Freeze does not seem to be working out as well as I hoped. Still an Obsidian Flesh Ele would Render the Suicide problem Moot; and perhaps give me breathing space for Broadheads/ Chocking Gas - if only for the Supports. Thanks for the Suggest.

Actually Yes, It did occur to me that Rot's was intended to provide a High Level PUG a particular challenge; but it still to my mind represents a really interesting Tactical problem in the present moment/game. Thanks for taking time to reply. BB.

Hmmm.. Rotscale...

The trick with that group is its positioning, very tricky to take down due to the Skeleton Rangers having the highground advantage. So use that against them. I got a hero to maintain Holy Wrath and Protective Spirit (to cap the damage so its easily healed back) on me while I tanked and let the Holy Wrath reflect the damage back (x2 btw) at the Skeleton Rangers. Once they were down it was easy to pull the rest of the group out one at a time. You dont need to pull them all the way out, just enough to lay some good damage on them. Judges Insight could help loads here with its +20% armor pen and x2 damage VS Rotscale's entourage. Watch out for pops and sneeky Smoke Phantoms from behind.

Rotscale himself is just a big softy. As ranger you can easily keep him in check with a Broad Head Arrow or Concussion Shot every now and then. Distracting and Savage Shot will work aswell.

Be sure to grab the "Holy Blessing" from the nearby Balthazar Shrine aswell. Its not essential but every little bit helps

Oh yea, I've triggered the Phantoms a few times, sometimes on purpose, sometimes not; but you mentioned pulling the Dragons out, any tips for positioning for the pull; as that has been a major challenge on particular set of mobs.

Thanks much for the tips. BB.

The dragons dont come out too far since they like to keep their highground, but if you can get them onto the steps sort of just infrount of Rotscale thats perfect. Although, if you can just get their attention you can kill them off with Holy Wrath.

Oh yeah, just incase. Frozen Soil. You can get around it by using Unyeilding Aura on monk hero etc. Cast it out of Frozen Soil's range then move in range and hold for when/if a quick res is needed.

If you're just looking to kill him for the joy of killing him, you can solo him as Keiran through the Hearts of the North quest that takes place in that area.

If you were trying to kill him for Zashien Bounty, then just do it with a full party.

More for the Challange of Lining up this particular rubix cube;

While I have not unlocked it quite yet; I definately had my best try this morning, employing some of the tips you all have shared. : ) Thanks much. Will link the image if/when we drop him. BB.

Thank You All for the Help.
Double Props to Trixxy, your hint about the Shrine was priceless; I was able to clear a careless DP that way, and without the buff, could not have won.

Once I found the right build for my Hero Ele (Shock/Spiker), the process of frying Rots Supports went smoothly enough; As my R/E and Hero tag teamed the beasts.

In the main event I cycled Broadshots, Meteors, and Fireballs. While the Hero and Henchie Ele's poured on additional fire power; meanwhile my 2 Fighters Tanked. We cut him down to 50% in no time, but then it was a long slog.

After Rots backed up to the temple Doors, I had to dance around a little with my Ranger to make room for all my team; and get clear lines of fire for everyone. Just that little bit made all the difference and his final 20% on the bar plummeted; Aleshia and a Merc Clone Kept everyone Healed up. (I found I did not have near the skills for a proper bonder; and used a build centered on Protective Spirit.)

I only got one crummy screen before the big guy disappeared; He did not stick around for a family photo.

Nuff Bragging... but many genuine Thanks Again. BB.

On the off chance that someone in future might be repeating the reseach I was doing last week. I am linking a few more detailed notes Here Hope they help, BB.

Correction: My Aliesha Healer had Jamell's Gaze, Factions Healing skills are so much better I thoughtlessly did not swap it out, so the team was not 100% Prophecies skill. Maybe next weekend. I'll update the linking details page if I do ... nuff said for now. BB.
