SR scar is nice to have for a 5 degen Reaper's Mark that's all I use it for really.

If you are only playing one magic line on the necro than you are missing out on a lot of fun and should probably go play a different class. Sure MM can be boring but there are other death magic builds out there, it's not just MM. Curses/Blood is a must, if you don't have them than why are you playing a necro? SR isn't needed it's just nice to get extra spreadable degen.

In order to raise a massive army of minions?

That said, I agree in principle. Maybe not about not going with just a single line on one skillbar, but you should certainly take the time to learn all three lines - if for no other reason than because sometimes the enemy just aren't considerate enough to leave bodies for you to exploit .

(Although even then, I've just noticed a couple of non-minion Death skills that look like they could be tasty...)

i agree to a certain extent i got a guild that does a lot of events we do b/p a lot so an mm is needed and when you got eight people there is no room for a hero. if it is me and my heros i let them do all the mming and i go curse or blood preferably blood because i dont like how henchies and heros heal

I love it how peeps start ripping into eachother (reading some of the replies) ... if one build works for you and you enjoy that build, go with it. Not every N has to have the exact same build. Yes some builds work good in PvE and the succes rate is high, but if everybody "needs" to play the same build, why not just make hero's iso a personal char and press "start" (if you catch my drift)

back to the OP ... at lvl5 just use whatever skills you get and learn the way of the N ... once you're lvl20 the real fun starts and builds come together as soon as you know your skills ... for now, just have fun ... my 2 cents

That just looks like a bad Blood Necro skill bar. How are you a tank exactly? I challenge you to go tank DoA. No monks. Just yourself and a witness. I want to see how long you can survive against 1 group of monsters. No 55/SS crap. Use the build as stated and "tank" the mob. No monks. Quite frankly I think it's your monks in your team that's been keeping your butt alive and not your tanking ability with said build. One doesn't need to "try" your build to know whether it is effective or not. I mean you layed out the skill set. We know how the skills work and many of us are experienced at UW/FOW. That pretty much covers it. I'll pay you 5k to do a UW run without dying on your own. I'll come along just to watch. I want to physically see you tank the Aatxes with consistency. Not just kill 1 Aatxe but all of them in the first room. No hiding behind NPC's at the beginning because that "isn't" tanking. No N/MO builds either but you already said you do it N/W with stances so we'll use that. Since you claim to have done this for a long time you shouldn't have any issues farming UW this way right? Up for the challenge? I'm calling you out.

Essential Gawd

P.S. I'm very open-minded but you're gonna have to convince me on this one. Screenshots won't help because they can be "staged". Video evidence perhaps?

QFT, btw... I'd like to see this guy tank with that build and have a monk or 2 healing him as well, he still wouldnt last long. I've come up with better 'tanking' builds before I knew what MM meant ffs. There is no way in the world such a build can tank in DoA. Hell I think smites would kill you with this.

Can any MM post the most viable MM build nowadays? I used to play one when I first started GW, now that I have come back, I would like to know what seems to be the most used MM build out there, another question though can MM's still farm? and were?

People dont hate meelemancers because they are stupid. Its not creative thing and hatherd of "new" stuff either.

They hate it because it does not work well.

Putting weak caster in frontlines was never good idea, it costs monks too much energy when compared to other possibilities, defeating its purporse as tank, and damage gained by being in meele is not really that good.

Good fun to play and i've gone through all campaigns with mine.

Good luck

Sorry i meant BLOOD RENEWAL not BLOOD RITUAL
Lol... Meleemancers >_<. A necro with a sword, not the smartest thing to do... But Ohh well.

MM build : Pretty basic rly... Sup Death rune + Staff of Mastery +1death magic 20%

-Flesh Golem
-Jagged Horror
-Bone Minion
-Dark Bond
-Blood Of The Master
-Karies Healing Circle
-Hard rez / Res Signet

MMs gennerally cant solo farm (from what I know) without corpses they are pretty useless >_<. And in areas like FoW I wouldnt suggest MMing. The minions might aggro a certain mob you cant handle. Minions > stupid. BTW.. Imho human MMs kinda suck anyway... Heroes do the job better.

I'm going to have to agree here. The only skill in that set that actually helps with tanking mobs is Unholy Feast. But if you are taking the majority of the hits, you are going down. And forget soloing without some kind of blocking or defense skills. I don't care what anyone claims about meleemancers, but the fact remains that no necro is going to tank a huge mob by spamming Vampiric Bite and Blood Renewal. I'm sure you could survive by running around willy-nilly until Unholy Feast recharges, but then again that wouldn't really be "tanking"

You could certainly survive well in a party as long as you are not taking the majority of attacks. But the fact remains that a N/E, N/Rt, or N/Mo would be just as survivable as that meleemancer build, and a hell of a lot more useful to boot.

All you need for PvE vanquishing and HM missions

Curses Build

16 or 14 Curses
13 Soul Reaping
(4 Blood)

1. Spiteful Spirit
2. Reckless Haste
3. Mark of Pain (it is incredible. Bring a MM and Rangers or Paragons, physical attackers)
4. Enfeebling Blood
5. Barbs (People tend to underestimate it)
6. Signet of Lost Souls
7. Necrosis (get max rank Sunspear, easy and worthwhile for 90 damage)
8. REZ, Desecrate Enchantment, Blood Ritual

Your Team: 2x Barrage/Pet or 1 B/P 1 BHA Ranger, 1x Minion Master Hero. Henchmen with a focus on wards (Herta e.g.) or physical attacks from the campaign in question.

Death (let a hero run it, they are much better with Death Nova than you, you should use Necrosis as replacement)

16 Death Magic
13 Soul Reaping
4 Blood

1. Icy Veins (it rocks so much more than Flesh Golem!)
2. Death Nova
3. Rotting Flesh (Disease rocks)
4. Shambling Horrors
5. Bone Minions
6. Bone Fiends
7. Signet of Lost Souls
8. Dark Bond

Blood of the Master can replace Rotting Flesh. It is not worth it and dangerous on Heroes IMO.
