Except people who want to be invincible.

Necros will probably be more fun though, paragons are kind of locked into 1 overpowered build which requires you to be able to put yourself in the middle of the party and use shouts on recharge. So much skill and knowledge required to do that.

I'm guessing you haven't heard...
Paragons>PvE

IMBAgons make your team nearly invincible, and Leg survivor SHOULD be safer/easier to get on a para than necro.

Seriously, look at some of the forums and the criticizing over how overpowered paras are. There's no comparison between the two.

In terms of usefulness for a PvE party, the Paragon will usually be better if you can play the God Mode build or Ursan; if you don't like/can't play one of those 2 builds make a Necro.

In terms of versatily, the Paragon can play a Spear build (with Motiv/Comm skills that are somewhat useful) or a pure defensive build. While Necromancer have many Blood Magic (Orders, Battery, Life Stealer), Curse (Spiteful Spirit, Wells spammer, Recurring Soul Barbs), Death Magic (MM, AotL tank, Discord spammer, Toxic Chill spammer), and Soul Reaping (Reaper's Mark hexer) builds. The Necro obviously wins here.

And in terms of farming, the Necro wins again because they can play 55 builds and the Paragons are really only useful in a group, not alone.

Both are easyily one of the most powerful classes, Necros cause well they are and Paragons cause of there imbagonness. Necros are more versitile plus have much better armor/weapon choices. If your gunna put in all the work you at least wanna look nice.

i herd paras nevah dei! dei r imba!

Seriously, half the Legendary Survivors are Paragons. Necros are MORE versatile though, and they can farm on their own. Both can be very resilient. But if you're creating one of those completely gay-looking male paras (Obsidian/Elite Nipplespear -> WTF go back to San Francisco), then you're better with a male junkie necro. Unless you're part of the gay pride.

As from the top of my head, there are Blood Spikers, Wells Spammer/support, MM (Order Of Undeath, AotL), Discord, SS, SV and BiP for necros. And Paras have Imbagons, which own PvE. You can have a MM with a hero, but you can't have an Imbagon with a Para hero (I think), but you may get bored of running the same Para build at some point. So I say you decide based on looks.

Paragons have their uses, but Necromancers are just bad ass. Necromancers have great versatility, the most popular seem to be Spiteful Spirit and Minion Mastery. Personally I can't stand to do either, but I still have a lot of fun and effective builds.

Paragons, while invincible, are boring. Incredibly easy to play, it's a batch role for a reason, necro's give a lot more versatility in play options.

Both are extremely versatile and incredibly useful in just about any party.

My preference is for the paragon for a couple reasons:

1) SY! is a great buff to put out and makes the vanqing process easier. You can vanq without SY! however (did Cantha on my warrior and never once used SY). I feel that i should mention that it's not necessarily the paragon's sole job-Rangers, Warriors and Sins are all able to pump it out very very well. If you opt not to use it, then the paragon is still great at dealing damage from range and being able to hit targets in the enemy backline that your frontline isn't able to reach.

2) A non-squishy is generally the best for vanqing with H/H (at least from what my friends tell me-see point 3). However with the appropiate level of defense from your heroes this is actually a pretty moot point.

3) I suck at playing caster characters.

Necromancers are the most fun to play and when you have the appropriate skills, you can have a higher damage output than any other character in the game.

Read this guide on playing Necromancers.
