There is no 'best' in this game.

Any of them will work, as long as it works with the team you are a part of.

SS is one of those skills that is invaluable to nearly any party, and depending on whether there are enough corpse-leaving mobs in an area, MM was made pretty much standard by Factions. N/Rt healers are great if you have the additional room, or if you want to get away from a 2-Monk backline.

If you are running with a melee-heavy party, you could play a backline Orders Necro for massive damage utility, which would also help the healers out, as things that die quickly = healers not under too much energy pressure.

All in all, the 'best' build is the one that you ENJOY PLAYING THE MOST, end of story.

My suggestion is to try each and every build, then you become proficient at more than one role, meaning that you can swap up if the party needs you to. This allows for more flexibility, and ultimately, can help enhance your enjoyment of the game as a whole, as well as helping you to meet others (if you are PuGging it, obviously not really much meet n greet going on if you are H/H the game all the way through) who could form a core group of your online contacts/guildies.

Just my 2c.

SS is an all around great build, the MM are good if you have enough corpses, they will help the monks too. if you n/rts are ok if you can assure that you can kill quick enough, if you dont kill fast enough they, along with the other three necros, will run out of energy. you can also try playing orders.

Necros = versatility.

Run whatever floats your boat.

From awkward gimmicks to farming through spammers/melee hate and corpse explotaition.

But I find MM'ing boring, so I leave it always to a hero. They do it better anyways.

Like any class, a necro can swap builds and headpieces in any town.
