Default Necro Build Help

So I used to play this game for a while then quit since me computer couldn't handle it and I forgot about the game for a while.....

Well now I am back and I was looking for a good starter Necro build and I was wandering if you all could give me some advice and pointers....

So here is what I was thinking as the build:

Primary Profession: Necromancer

Secondary Profession: Ranger

Skill Specialties: Curses, Marksmanship, and Soul Reaping

Skills Considering: Death or Blood.... I can't decide.

So what do you all think... If someone could fill out a bar for me or show me how to then I can do one myself.

Also, can you use regular terms since I am rusty with my abbreviations lol.

Thanks,

Necrodox

Necros are always fun to play. No one peron can tell you how to play if you do not understand how a build works. Trial and error are going to be your best friends. Mess around with skills until you find something you feel comfortable with. But if you must have a cookie cutter build, here's a link.

Well[spiteful spirit] is a new necro's friend,dont use any ranger skills or attributes at all.

standard"starter bar":[spiteful spirit][insidious parasite][barbs][mark of pain][signet of lost souls](IF you have nightfall,if not forget that.)[awaken the blood]+rez,id recomend getting necro/ele asap if you only have prophs for Glyph of Lesser Energy,since not having nf means you dont have sig of lost souls which is the best form of nec energy management,when your spamming ss+insidious+barbs+mark+whatever you wont have the nrg even with soul reaping.

Actually Wind...you will have enough energy because you don't just "spam" [SS] on any target. [Insidious Parasite] can be used as offense for quicker kills but it's mainly used as a defense for those pesky warrs who get to you. [mark of pain] on first target is key then switch to another target and put [SS] on them. [Barbs] can be used for a monk or a boss.

Still, Wind does have a point and you can run out. I usually go Mes 2nd and bring a degen with [cry of pain]. Oh and get [Necrosis]...sweet skill. Other than that, play around with different skills to find something you like.

Well... to be honest, I've stopped giving people good advice. Of course the "good" advice is to tell people that necromancers with Marks is a bad idea. But it's more fun to actually try to make something of it that doesn't suck horribly.

Here you go:

[build prof=n/r blood=10+1+1 soulr=10+1 marks=11][order of the vampire][triple shot][dual shot][volley][distracting shot][favorable winds][signet of lost souls][resurrection signet][/build]

Is it optional? Hell no. It'll work, though.

You can always go with Curses and Barbs instead, Mark of Pain has too long recharge and same goes for Rigor Mortis. I'd suggest you use a flatbow or a shortbow as main weapon.

Ok so here is what I was going with my Bar so far....

Tell me what you all think.

Spiteful Spirit, Insidious Parasite, Barbs, Signet of Lost Souls, Soul Barbs, Resurrection Signet, Rapid Fire

This allows me to spam my Curses and then hit them quickly with Rapid Fire.

Soul Barbs? Sure you don't mean Barbs?

Mark of Pain has too long recharge. You need a way to cut it down to use it in PvE.

Sorry, I am new lol but I thought Soul Barbs was pretty good unless the recharge is pretty bad.

Default curses necro

ok, there is salvation for a newer necro. there are 2 good and easy to run pve builds:
Curses: N/me
arcane echo, spiteful spirit, insidious parasite, signet of lost souls, (necrosis if possible, if not, barbs) rez sig, and a few skills of your choice.

application: in regular pve, large mobs can be taken down by arcane echo-ss:tab:ss:tab:ss until dead. it's especially effective when mobs are clumped as they will stack spiteful's damage very quickly.

for larger bosses and hard to kill single mobs, i like to keep a hex on them and arcane echo-necrosis. this can easily give you 100+ dps without and trouble or experience running the build.

Death: N/any

Flesh golem, bone horror, shambling horror, dark bond, blood of the master, taste of death and your choice of other relevant skills.

imho nothing's quite as easy as minion mastering: when something dies, raise a minion, use dark bond and taste of death to keep yourself alive (use taste liberally) energy isn't usually to big an issue as you will continually raise/lose minions, so soul reaping will keep it up.

my in game char's name is mrs lovetts, feel free to pm me for any help.

Thanks for all the help, the reason why I am not using the standard builds of necroes is because I like going against the norm lol. I wanted to see if a curse stacking Ranger could work effectively against single enemies and mobs...

But then again I am a newbie Necro and I can get all the Help if I can get...

Oh and by the way.. I hate Mesmers lol, I used them way too much when I used to play and I want to try something new.

No lol. Echo SS is terrible and has zero use outside of certain team /2man farm builds.45 energy on casting two copies of a "reactive" hex then watching aggro break,yeah worth it when one copy can cause enough havoc.Try it in HM that isn't 55/SS UW and watch your team die

And Fleshie? Seriously big NO.There are far better elites for human MM's. Hello [order of undeath].

There is also the TC necro that goes something like this [build=TC;OABDUsx3QZBKg7Z8M7OVVfBahA]
the only good use of soul barbs i have seen is in a re [Build=Ri;OAVDEsNHPkhP4HYMsH4gaidH] (Insecurity triggers barbs twice when you use another hex)
And you can take a role of enargy management in a party
[build=BiP;OANFQcJGexrybcHGCXIGB0rLTA]
(there are lots of versons of the biper, many of them need you to have 1HP so you don't sacrifice any health and you can spam bip. You wont use this much in normal pve, usealy only in Elite arieas.)
You can spread conditions around like mad with this
[build=Vir;OAVCUsxkN5agTwNYaQVVXgAA]
The AoL MM (Flesh golem is good and all, i just like the 3/4 redused sacrifice cost with AoL so i can keep minions alive longer. You can use any minion you want, i like the fiends because of the range)
[build=MM;OANDQTxGTUB4ByBLCKCVVJgyEA]

Calista is right. One copy of [Spiteful Spirit] is enough for normal PvE in HM.
As for a human minion master, I'll forgive you for using [Aura of the Lich], but I'll regard you as a coward, be a man and run [Order of Undeath] - Flesh Golem is inferior.

As for a [Toxic Chill] based build posted earlier, I wouldn't recommend it for PvE - single target damage is generally undesirable, especially if it's cold damage.

To be fair though, at the start it doesn't really matter what line you pick to invest into. Early PvE is generally quite easy and forgiving.
Later on, you'll want to be able to use all available lines and the Curses line for a Necromancer is almost unmatched.
