Default Direct Damage Nuking Necro?

Is there a build for direct damage? Is there a direct damage spammable skill?

I made a new elementalist, and was having fun with all the direct damage, so I thought I'd pick up my necro again...

Yeah, Necrosis and Discord for example.

Discord is pretty much the only one besides Necrosis. The blood magic line contains largely life stealing but unless you are in a Bloodspike GvG or HA team it's best avoided.

Discordway team build

And going by the thread title "nuking" AP+Mark of pain and subsequent builds are fantastic at the purpose when coupled with physicals ie minions or sins/wars/paras/rangers.The build concept is wikified here by Moloch Vein

The necromancer does not excel at direct damage. The curses line has a few options - Defile Enchantments and Desecrate Enchantments (they're duplicates) for example.
There is the Death Magic line, which has a few. However the damage output is somewhat pathetic (a lot of it being Cold damage).

The Blood Magic line has the most direct damage options, but is equally pathetic if not worse. A lot of the skills are far from spammable or usable and the one's that are spammable are usually bad (Jaundiced Gaze for example).

Some options are available. The PvE skill Necrosis is quite spammable, reasonable and is cheap. It's certainly more reliable than it's Death Magic elite counterpart, Discord.

All in all, Direct Damage (in the form of nukes or single target spikes) is not really something the Necromancer excels at.
However, their damage capabilities are extreme with the Curses line (Barbs, Mark of Pain, even Spiteful Spirit).

There is FoC (Feas of corruption) - but high recharge and casting time makes it only a real option with consumables.

Since when did Mindbender and Sols do direct damage? Or is that supposed to be a build?

Since when has GW had 9 skillslots?

1) Mindbender (5e)
2) Suffering (15e)
3) Arcane Echo (15e)
4) Feast of Corruption (15e)
5) Defile Enchantments (10e)
6) Desecrate Enchantments (10e)
7) Enfeebling Blood (1e, 10% sac)
8) Necrosis (5e)
9) Signet of Lost Souls (no cost)

On top of that, where are you planning on getting the energy to use 5 skills (6, if you count the Arcane Echo'd FoC) that are 10e+? Casting those 6 alone would cost you 80e, and that's not counting 5e for Mindbender, or 5e a shot for Necrosis spam on recharge.

I'm not sure what "direct damage" means, exactly, but in PvE, SS is guaranteed damage, since foes will always be doing something.

I take a direct damage skill to be a skill that's primary purpose is to deal (usually) instant damage.
Degeneration and stuff like SS do not fall into this category. I don't really consider stuff like Power Spike or Technobabble to be direct damage either, but they can be used for that purpose.

Necroes can run a Searing Flames build pretty well in NM, if not more effectively then Eles can.

Basically just throw in SF, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Fire Attunement, Elemental Lord, Signet of Lost souls, and 3 optional skills.

I suggest something like Signet of Corruption for even more energy management, Foul Feast, and By Ural's Hammer

EDIT:

Besides that, other Direct Damage builds include the popular build with AP, Ebon Assassin support, YMLaD!, and FH!

Necrosis is also very good, maybe even throw in a Fragility/Virulence based build along with it to really get things interesting.

EDIT2:

Icy Veins couples with Rising/Putrid Pile and Putrid Explosion though is still pretty good.

Elemental Lord is basically a waste. The +1 to attributes is really not worth it and you don't get any energy without at least 10 in Energy Storage (which you cannot achieve).

Take Ebon Standard of Honor for a much needed damage boost and find a good source of Cracked Armour (Weaken Armour is somewhat excellent).

All a matter of opinion, but the concept rests.

Why everyone assumes from the get go that the guy meant PvE...Besides that, I thought it wasn't allowed to ask for builds, just for an improvement for a specific build, or have the rules changed ? (not being sarcastic).

If you want to be a direct damage dealer then take a direct damage dealer class. Necros have a few direct damage spells (most of them are sub-par). However, they can not be the heart of any potent build, only as a supplement at best.

Again Check PvXwiki.com for information. It should be in the headline of the site..."Want to post builds? Welcome aboard! Looking for builds? NOT HERE, go to PVXWIKI.COM."

That doesn't make sense. SS deals damage instantly too. Or are you saying that because it doesn't do all the damage at once, it isn't direct damage? If so, DTAoE falls into that category as well. Is DTAoE direct damage?

Btw, is MoP direct damage?

How about searing flames?

The qualification you used, usually, also makes it kind of greyish ;o

Well according to that definition, SS is direct damage

The condition is always met, except when the target is moving. I'd say that's easier to meet than discord's, or even MoP.

i don't see how the concept is hard to understand. there is a direct relationship between casting the spell and damage being inflicted.

ss is indirect, because the relationship between casting the spell and inflicting damage is not directly connected. the damage is connected to the actions of opponent, not to the actions of the person casting the spell.

degen is not direct damage, nor is it indirect damage--it is degen aka not damage at all.

technobabble is indeed direct damage, but it has an additional effect.
searing flames is direct damage, but has a clause in order for it to take place.

to op: necrosis. that is all....i mean u could use discord, but there are better options
