Default Best Elite for Healing Monk Hero?

i usually set up tahlkora as prot with zb, and have dunkoro as healing. in parties of 8 i would usually have him use LoD, however, i was wondering what the best elite would be for parties of 4-6. Word of Healing and Healing Light went through my mind.

any other suggestions?

I tend to use a ZB Prot for 4 man parties. LoD i still use for 6man in degen heavy areas. But i would guess WoH to be a good choice, its a strong heal for its cost.

Heroes tend to botch getting the bonus from ZB, and timing on lod leaves much to be desired.

WoH or SoR is pretty good for hero monks since they are difficult to mess up.

While this may not be the case for everyone's heroes, mine atleast tend to avoid the conditional bonuses for skills like WoH or ZB, and then won't cast unless the conditional requirements of others are filled (Skill interrupts anything, but does +extra on a spell, so they only use on a spell, for example)

I've been playing with some of the elites that one could use for a healing build, and to be honest i've not found anything. It seems as though the Henchman AI monk is better than my geared out hero under almost any circumstance i've put it through.

Monk heroes absolutely SUCK with Zealous Benediction. They will be at 2% health and still spam it on someone at 95% health even if they only have 10 energy left.

LoD is a pretty reliable choice for any healing monk, but I have found that heroes are actually pretty good with Glimmer of Light. Heroes in general suck at targetting allies that are under 50% health for the bonus of a spell (such as WoH or ZB), so giving them a cheap and fast heal is the best way to go. They also tend to suck at healing themselves, so giving them more options on their skill bar to use a heal that targets themselves often encourages to heal themselves as well. I really only run 2 different bars for my Dunkoro (healing monk). One is LoD, the other is Glimmer of Light.

With all this said, you are still probably better off taking hench monks and using your heroes for damage. Their base damage from weapons and they also allow the possibility of having 2 Searing Flames eles or a MM which are both superior to any hench alternatives.

I have found that monk heroes use ZB actually quite decently, my only reservation is that they refuse to use it as self heal.

all it take to make monk use ZB as spike heal (and trigger energy bonus) and not utility heal is to also give them gift of health which they will prefer for heal ups and ^50 heals.

WoH is a very solid skill to use on a monk hero, since it's pretty decent even if the bonus doesn't trigger (unlike ZB). Healing light can be good if you run it with aegis, but they're not very smart about who to cast it on.

Thats because monks don't use ZB on themselves... thats hardly cause to say it sucks. Use it your frigging self.

you could try healer's boon, you would have a hard time making heroes screw hb builds up = )

I generally Use ZB on Prot Monks and WoH on Healer monks, both seem the most effective things to use. Occassionally will change to LoD on the healer but only really for some missions.

When it comes to heroes, for hard mode there are some interesting options.

LoD is nice when damage comes in the form of degen (Whcih Heroes fail at managing) but slowly loses power when HM mobs tear through whatever healing you have. Generally there's not much hope of a hero out-healing the damage done in HM, meaning you have to go prot which requires a little fine tuning to get a build the hero can run.

Zealous Benediction is horrid on a hero, don't use it. The one I use on my heroes is Shield of Deflection. It's expensive, but it counters the insane damage enemy melee dish out in HM. Also the AI can tell when a target is being attacked by melee, making them have a slight advantage when using this skill over your average pug monk.

The next option is Shield of Regeneration, which I would not reccommend. Life Sheath can stop 2-3 attacks or a single spell from an Elementalist, so I wouldn't reccommened that either. RC is a good spell, but I honestly don't think there are enough conditions in PvE to justify it's use.

If you are going with Healing (Or playing in Normal Mode) then LoD, HB, WoH and even Blessed Light will all work. Finally if you want to try something interesting, use Signet of Removal, it's comparable with Blessed Light and helps monks deal with hexes easier.

I've noticed a couple of things about heroes while building for hard mode.

The monks don't understand energy management, they'll make the same mistake new monks make and burn themselves out. One way around this is to set them up with a lot of 5e skills and they'll be alright a bit longer, another way is to set them up with ridiculous amounts of energy management (MoR, E.Signet, leech sig, p.drain..) - but the latter is mostly stupid.

They don't use Prot spirit, or any of the big prots well and will spam them on minions (they'll also infuse minions.... gg).

They do use Blessed Light pretty well, but it's expensive and I can't really justify it in hard mode. In normal mode B.light + prot + gift + p.drain/leech sig is good.

They will use WoH well, but make sure to give them two self heals in case they're getting trained. LoD is also good, but they aren't good at timing it or using it as anti pressure.

They will use Life Sheath well, and it's cheap, but it's a waste of an elite when you can just stack prot spirit and SoA and get a similar effect.

They're great with RC, but it's way easier just to put draw conditions + infuse condition on your minion master and fuggeddaboudit.

They will use power drain and leech sig like absolute rockstars - I put both on every hero monk bar.

The one thing I really wish they'd do is ignore minions - my heroes _constantly_ spam heals on the minions.

In Hard mode, I used to run WoH, but switched to Glimmer and have never had any regrets. Since AI owns at anything concerning reaction times, equiping them with with a 1/4 second casting time spell makes for insanely fast heals.

For other skills, never forget to pack those decent mesmer skills: Ether signet and Leech Signet. The AIs make great use of these and it counteres their energy burning.

AI spellcasters are awesome with leech sig and p.drain, I don't see them using ether signet often enough so it feels like a waste.

I have run dunk with all 3 though, helps him handle 10e spells.
