Default Do I really need a monk?

Ive played as an assassin all my GW life and i still havent got bored of him although i need to farm greens for a day to get a decent perfect pair of perfect daggers.

So i was thinking...

I have an elementalist but all my guildies tell me to delete her and make a 55hp in profecies.

Do i need a monk to have my storage full of plats, ectos and obsi's?

Im asking all you monks out there, is it worth it???

No. Sins and eles are known as the best green farmers in the game. So if you need greens keep them.

Monk is the best 'general purpose' farmer, but not the only class possible. I have a 55 Monk, but I also have a 55 Necro and 55 Mesmer. Monk can also join farming groups easy, as most will use one.

Assassin can solo farm Tombs for ecto and chances for rare skins like Storm Bows. Even in Hard Mode, an A/Me can do this quite easily.

E/A can solo bosses for greens very easy, and fast. I also know someone who uses an E/A to solo parts of DoA for gems, and other rare drops.

If you know what you need/want, I'd be willing to bet your Assassin or Elementalist can farm it.

First, I hate hearing about people making a character simply because their guildies asked/begged them to. Play the game for you, not for them. If they aren't okay with that, then they can make themselves a monk or whatever else.

Second, I used to 55 with my monk. I still have all the equipment to 55. I just don't farm all that much. I farmed enough to get the armor I needed for my monk and all the stuff I would need to have a W/R that could both farm and run in the Shiverpeaks in case I ever needed cash. Now I never 55. 55ing can be fun (simply because only having 55hp can cause a bit of an adrenaline rush), but if you enjoy your A, then play your A. I think every class can farm, you just have to get creative with your builds, mabe even making your own. The best places to farm are the places no one is talking about, so there will not be pre-made builds to use.

I'd actually say rits and warriors are the best general purpose farmers. They can farm almost all of the monk locations, and a lot more different ones too. Monks are limited to areas with little to no ench removal.

And if your going to make a Monk make one because you want to heal or be a "Monk" don't make them just for farming that takes away their whole purpose of being.

Although its no whre as costly as it used to be you should also consider the fact that creating a 55hp monk has an intial cost to setup. So if your struggling for cash for a set of daggers i doubt you'd be able to afford kitting out a new character yet.

every class besides paragorns perhaps have good farming builds
the days when 55ing was the only good farming build are over...
shadow form+silver armor, 130 hp dervish, terra tanks, glads+ripostes, VwK are all non 55 good farming builds. and there are more...
so u dont really need 55 for farming golds nor greens... however if you like the monk class than by all means make a monk and play with it, not neccessarily farm with it as u can do that well enough with your ele and sin. solo UW with your ele as terra tank, farm greens with both of them.
psst, if you so desperatly want to 55 you can do it on your ele, even though there are much safer ele farming builds nowadays...

I invested in a 55 monk. It's a great investment, but because Assassins are great for farming already, there's no need for you to do so. Stick with your Assassin until it gets boring, then consider other professions.

Monk 55ing is boring imo...

I would go ss and pair up with a 55, allowing you to do all the damage in just a few spells and watch the carnage as those aatxes crumble beneath the 55's feet.

Oh, we weren't talking about UW were we...yeah, it sucks now.

Monks, like I said, when it comes to 55ing, are really really boring to play. The only fun that comes out of it is the risk of you dying and shouting at your monitor if you have some anger issues. I would stick with the assassin if I were you. Fun to pull off those chains and soloing the bosses for them greens.
