Default Need help with my build

Ok ... my armor is max out and im using kaoling pro staff. I've playing for a month now, I'm lvl 20 and have 3 heroes. But when i tried to do some farming
I'll get my butt kick.

Here are my skills:

When I go with my heroes.

When i'll go in a group (so I can heal)

My stats:

I really need some help. I have Prophecies, Factions and Eye of The North. Plus the bonus mission pack.

Also when i'm doing farming I used Signet of Capture to see if I can get any elite ... but none so far.

What and where are you farming?

Your build is ok for a beginner. But try to get WoH(it's an elite) as soon as you can. It'll make healing a breeze(no pun intended, that skill is not good, except for farming, and even then)

I see you are trying to tank. Which is not the thing a monk should be doing. Try letting your hero's grab, hold, and keep aggro while you stand back and heal.

Also, try to get a couple sets of armor. One for healing. One for Prot. And one for farming. What you have now is ok. As all the runes are minor, which have no down side, But as you are still learning, stick to one att. It'll make learning them easier. Once you have a good handle on, lets say, healing go to prot and "start over".

If you need help, or a build pm me IG

IGN Momir Monk

Hope that helps, I know I didn't exactly answer your question, but yeah. Also
How far are you in proph? elites don't show up for a while in there.

start here: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

read some of the new player guides, learn how elites work.

quite honesly, your skillbars are both ridiculously bad. not really salvageable. look around these forums for some build advice, there are plenty of threads.

Come on man... its been only one month hes playing the game.

Hehehehe... Yeah you were a bit too hard (should have chosen softer words ). AT THE SAME TIME you made some important questions/suggestions. Depending on his answers we will be able to help him.

@op

Dont bring signet of capture unless you are sure that there is an elite you can cap.

You really need to decide if u want to go prot or heal monk (you can go hybrid when you get more experienced), because that will make a huge difference in what skills we will suggest you to get.

Also visit:
Guru Download Area : and download a program called mapping out to help you find the elites you want.

GWFreaks : Get this tool also to help you with builds.

Pvxwiki : tons of build categorized by the players.

And please answer GWEXTREEMFAN's questions so we can provide you more accurate suggestions.

Wow EXTREEM, rage much? He already said what he owns and that he doesn't have any elites yet.

Anyway, to the OP, first thing to start with is your team build. Farming is a whole different ball game that will require specific gear and builds, and you will want to do some research on specific areas before jumping in. Most farming areas will require one elite or another.

Healing/Prot or hybrid monks are pretty common and are extremely useful early on when you typically only have one monk in a team, or later in high end areas where no matter how good you are at healing, you will need to prevent some damage before it happens.

Maintained enchants are generally no good (with a few specific exceptions) unless you are going exclusively as a bonder monk which is rarely required for most situations. [protective spirit][patient spirit][dwayna's kiss] is a strong mitigate damage/healing spike when used correctly. Look into some energy management (hint:[glyph of lesser energy]) and keep in mind that healing circle heals all adjacent creatures, that includes enemies.

Dont make advices if you dont know what youre talking about.

OT: Basicly what Lotus and JD said, read the sticky monk guides, and you'll be on your way.

Those really aren't farming builds and don't send him to the PvX yet tell him to check the farming forum out. Those bars aren't great for parting getting rid of a few skill and replacing them will improve them all Monks use rebirth after a wipe if there is to much aggro.

I would read some guildes on farming what and how is it done.

Lol ok mister Pro Monker.

Ok I'm going to give the exact opposite advice here. Hybrid builds are probably the best kinds. They are by fasr the most versatile and allow you to not only heal damage but save energy by mitigating damage so you dont need to heal it.

For group play the first skill I would suggest getting is [Word of Healing]. Its the best spot heal in the game. Then I would suggest one or two (one is probably enough but certainly no more than two) more direct heals and put the rest of the skills as protection skills. [Aegis][Guardian] and [Reversal of Fortune] are good ones to look at. For PvE I wouldn't bring condition or hex removal unless you know your gonna run into alot of it.

For the farming build you are going to need more dmg because [Zealots Fire] just doesnt cut it by itself. Plus it causes scattering. Also, get rid of [Heal Party], you dont need it. Just check out the wiki links that people posted for ideas on what to put in those skill slots.

Karei's Healing Circle will heal any adjacent creature, including enemies - you'd be better off bringing something else, really. Direct heals, like some people have already said. You've already got prot so that isn't an issue, either - but I suggest that if you're not yet familiar with the skills and how they work together, you might want to try working with separate bars first.

Hybrid is good, yes. But it's also good to see where healing spells work and where prot spells work and why.

Good luck! (:

A few problems with the build:
1. Too many maintained enchantments. Mending for example is very bad, you aren't running a lot of skills that require you to take blessed aura, and balth's spirit is better for solo farming. So ditch all three of those and blessed signet.
2. Heal party is okay if you are /el so you can take glyph of lesser energy, however you can do better.
3. Healing breeze and Kirei's healing circle are just plain awful.
4. Zealots fire costs you an extra point of energy every time you cast a spell and you are only doing 6-7 damage with it.
5. Restore life is an okay res, but you should be taking res chant or rebirth if you take anything. Ideally you'll get to the point where you don't need to bring one.
6. As others have said, you need an elite. WoH is cappable in the first half of factions or in the crystal desert on the missions there... elona reach is probably the easist place to get it from if you try in proph.
7. Hybrid healing/protect is nice, however you don't have a lot of protection skills. Try bringing shielding hands or guardian. Spirit bond is also an alternative.
8. You have no hex or condition removal at all and in some places either will help.

Every monk is expected to and should be able to handle both conditions & hexes.
If i know im gonna run into a lot of conditions, im gonna run a [Restore Condition] build and leave the healing to the other monk.
If alot of hexes, im gonna run [Divert Hexes] or 2 hex removals such as [Cure Hex] and [Spotless Mind].
So yeah, always bring a condition and hex removal, that's actually a great advice for a starting monk, i dont know which camapign you started at or how far you are at it, but [Remove Hex] and [Mend Ailment] are both core skills you get early in the game.

Should be self-explanatory...all EotN/Proph/Factions friendly I think....

1. Read the stickied Guide.
2. Learn how to use GuildWiki to find information on Capture locations for Elite Skills.
3. Aim for a build such as Snow Bunny's.

Hybrid Monk builds generally need:
  • A power heal - usually [[Word of Healing]
  • Condition Removal
  • Hex Removal
  • Energy Management - usually [[Glyph of Lesser Energy]
  • [[Aegis]
