I've found SOI works nicely with Me/Rt because Rits have lots of neat preparation spells. I just use SOI with those preparation spells and nothing else. It's cool to be able to use every spell attribute in a build even if I'm only using SOI every once in a while to rez or conjure up an ashpot.

Oh yeah. Somebody said they like domination. I never liked it until Nightfall. It's crazy how much I bathe in the insanity that is Domination now.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, but if you're reffering to hammer warriors, then I think you have your facts a little skewed. Playing a good hammer warrior is not easy at all, and most players that chose a hammer have already mastered the other weapons. You should try making one.
The difference is that mesmers micromanage, and playing a hammer warrior or an air elementalist is more macromanagement. Doing either well is not a walk in the park.

On topic.. I can't wait to get SoI, because I really could care less how efficient I am half the time. It'll be pure joy just to not even worry about attributes. *big grin*

It was a metaphore.

I've played warriors and yes, hammer warriors are the toughest to play out of the three weapons. Normally, I do sword because, well, I like swords. I'm not disrespecting warriors; I'm just saying they're very obvious.

But thank you for quoting me. It happens so rarely and I feel so special afterwards.

I agree with Beginners Luck on this one. The subtleties of playing a warrior occur in the player rather than on the screen. A warrior's skill is often shown by not doing something, which an observer can only understand if they also play a warrior. I don't claim to be a warrior expert, but this is something you learn very quickly when you play one.

As a sidenote, hammer is my absolute favorite weapon. I'm not sure whether it's actually harder than playing sword or axe, but it's definitely not easier.

I do this sort of trick with friends. Normally they have a monk. Basically group gets monk but conditonal on my mesmer being in party. Always take advantage of a profession that is in short supply.

I think the mesmer hate in PvE is a thing of the past. I've never seen so many mesmers in PvE, and I haven't seen one have trouble getting a group in ages. In fact people are fast to accept them as most people are a warrior or a dervish, just being something else seems to be enough to get you in a group.

Makes me wish I didn't delete my mesmer.

Ah, gotta love those hammers. (hammer guy myself)

Anyway, SoI looks intersting, but I don't think I'll ever be creative enough to think of an awesome build for it (my builds are so lame, a mac-nerd couod be cooler). Looks like more of a utility skill for farming than a highly competitive GvG or HoH skill...

Mind if I merge the posts in the other thread?

Or have you already posted in there?

I've been thinking about this question lately and 2 things I feel are also contributing factors in my enjoyment of playing a mesmer.
1. They were made to break rules! Mwa ha haaaa
2. They can make a huge difference in PVP and PVE boss battles without anyone even knowing they were pulling the strings throughout the battle. Bwa ha haaa

It kinda makes you feel like you are a secret agent or something.

That's both a gift and a curse. We're so secretive, people actually think we do nothing. I'm sure you've heard stories of how powerful warriors think they are. Unbeknownst to them, there was a /catchbreath mesmer in the distance. j/k^^.

I normaly feel quite useless on trash mobs (except the monk, elementalist and dervish types) but when it comes to hard boss types. I always carry Blackout for that reason!

In PVE, I use a trash mob skill set that includes arcane echo, spiritual pain, and assassins promise. It's mind numbingly effective.
I can fall asleep and still do some part against the trash mobs with those 3 on.
I've been in two groups with someone's underlvl'd ele heros and the groups both made a comment on how the ele hero seemed to be kicking butt all the sudden.
