i was just pvping and a mes casts ineptitude, clumsiness, empathy, and backfire on me and some other teammates, and before we know it, the pained yell comes and my hp is at 0.

Well.. ive been using the ineptitude, clumsiness, empathy, spirit of failure.. FOREVER. I dont think its new, however its a great solo mesmer spike combo against meleers.

and backfire is fun on dervishes

I hate it when people base the actions of one upon the entire populace of memsers. Sure, there are good mesmers out there, we'll just leave it at that.

everyone looks down on them and there was a poll for the worst class in pvp and mesmer won, so i was just confused lol

The same skill combo wouldn't have been half as effective against a different profession as the primary target - mesmers need to specialise into the role that their team requires of them. If you're the kind of profession that that particular mesmer has been specialised to destroy, then you're doomed before you even get into his casting range

Mesmers have been always known as the kings of PvP and the Unfavored of PvE. Me/E Lightning Spike always worked in ABs and Arenas.

my ele avoids them like the plague. It's indeed quite an underrated class, but most definitely not in PvP.
They are very powerful anyway, im never afraid to take a mesmer along in PvE as well, it's not always visible damage but it sure helps a lot nonetheless.

Mesmers always pwned in PvP. As said by Ensign, there's Warriors, there's Monks, and there's the Mesmer.

MESMERS FTW----they have always been amazing, just most of them suck because they try to do too many things at once. or they just try and spam conjure phant and conjure nightmare and run out of energy and die. mesmers are probably the hardest class to play because it requires knowledge of all other classes..for example, you wouldnt put empathy on a monk or backfire on a warrior, both of which ive seen done.

At the highest level of playing, nothing really is harder than the other - I would even venture to say that playing a Monk and playing a Warrior is hardest (not really due to difficulty though). It's quite easy for me, an Elementalist, to play other roles such as a Necromancer or a Mesmer, but Warriors and Monks tend to require quite a lot of specialization.

I agree 100%, i play every class in Gw and from my own experience being a GOOD warrior or monk is hard especially if your playing at a high level. Something to do with Warriors and monks usually taking a pretty core role (and often VERY specialised) in a group whilst a mesmer (for example) is only really a support role. The sad fact is that 75% of warriors and monks i meet just don't understand what their role is (much higher % in PvE).

Mesmers for me have always been the best class in GW and require a different attitude towards play. An important part of being a mesmer is to find it hilarious to pick on whammos, i think thats VERY important.

Such a build is only punishing the stupidity of the receiver, not doing anything good yourself tbh.

Actually if you have enough Fast Casting, and if you time your Ineptitude or Clumsiness right, you can punish good Warriors who know what these hexes do.
