Smile Insignia AL v's Health

With my weapon sets I run a +30 / +30 Spear Shield set, & a +5AL / +30 Sword / Shield Set - Both Weapons + 5 Energy, Shields various inscriptions.

My question is regarding Survivor Insignia versus Generic +AL Insignia or Mesmer Specific +AL Insignia. I am currently running all Survivor, but am leaning towards adding some +AL Insignias after reading some of the posts on the Rebels Rising website.

Any thoughts for both PvP & PvE & what insignias your Mesmer's run & the reasoning behind it.

Cheers.

on mesmers for pvp, i run usually a Al+10vs physical, and Al+10 vs fire.
People always like to smack and burn the squishiest guy out there.

And I find it actually does help.

i find that +armor is good for reducing the armor-acknowledging damage i take and that +health is good for increasing my health.

Vs. type insignias are questionable for GvG, current omegaspikes use a variety of elemental and physical damages, and you're better off with health than just resisting one type. If your bar is full of smite signets then running artificers is a no-brainer, but this is only a few select builds. That leaves the mesmer with the questionable prodigy. Sure a decent dom mesmer is going to have tons of stuff recharging most of the time, but the armor isn't consistently there always.

For low-end (Arenas, ABs, etc.) you're about always better off with whatever crap +armor you can find, because spike generally isn't the name of the game here. A big advantage to survivor in GvG is its resistance to death penalty, something that again is a non-issue in these modes.

Thanx for the advice, its definately interesting to hear others perspectives. The point about Survivors & DP is a good point.

I guess I'll keep running Survivors, any further advice is welcomed, thanx for the replies.

I have found that a mesmer's best defense lies not with his armor, but with his skillbar.

Whilst I agree that skills and how and when to use them maketh the Mesmer, In high end GvG every little thing obviously matters to allow an added advantage over competitors.

Thanks for the reply.

I usually use +10 while in a stance or enchanted (most people usually have a stance or enchantment on them or monks can always stick something on you) or +15 from Survivor. The Prodigy one is only best if you have a lot of long recharge skills, probably for a Signet build (but then you could bring the +3 for a signet one, hmmm).

for PvE i take a mix of + energy and + health, for well, energy and health.
and i make sure i wont get hit that much, and that is more easy in PvE than PvP

More Health helps, more Armor helps. Which helps more can be discussed on forever so just leave it at personal preferences.
