Default Need help for a Me/R

So I recently created a Me/R that played pretty well through the Prophesies campaign, running domination and bow interrupts, with empathy/backfire for damage. I am trying to convert it to PvP a bit though, and would love any suggestions.

At first I was going to try a fragility/fevered dreams kind of thing with a bunch of conditions (marksmanship seemed to add to that well), but it seems fragility has fallen out of favor.

Recently, just playing around in RA I've been running ineptitude and clumsiness with bow interrupts but it seems like I have a hard time keeping pressure after a few interrupts.

Basically I'm just looking for a decent build to have fun with in casual PvP. I'd love to keep the bow if I could, but just looking for something someone might have tried.

Hey ^_^

It's funny you should mention that you're looking for a me/r build because i recently started to use ranger secondaries in RA on most of my casters since the warrior stances nerf.

I use this:

[Renowned Gladiator's Skills;OQJUAQBPOMOFgHjHQD8rzAEBBAA]

with minor runes ; 14 dom 9 fc 8 insp 8 ws. Change to 9 insp and 8fc if you want to use a 40/40 inspiration wepaon set (i prefer to have more fast cast)

It's a fairly standard PB bar. I was using this build with just natural stride at first but thought id throw in d shot for the lulz

Stances are really important in RA imo, there are so many rangers and melees that you cant really get away with having a build with no defense. Use nat stride to avoid ranger interrupts and melee attacks/chains or as a quick speed boost to kite or reposition yourself (position is key!).

You can replace d shot with anything you like really. A few options are backfire/shame/wastrels worry/another mesmer interrupt.

You say you were using bow interrupts so i guess you were using d shot aswel as savage shot? If so, drop savage shot. There are much better options from the domination line like power spike/leak and cry of frustration. I'd advise against using marksmanship, mesmer attributes don't go very far at all and you can do high armor ignoring damage with many mesmer spells.

Power block isn't the easiest build to play well, it takes a bit of practice but still the most fun elite to play imo (you could switch elites if you aren't a confident interrupter, say visions of regret). If you want to play an illusion build i would take distortion as your stance and d-shot if you still really want to take a ranger interrupt. Use d shot to shutdown key skills; backfire, empathy, insidious parasite, res sigs etc.

Hope this helps!

tbh, messes have better interupts than rangers. you should be running mes interupts, (pblock, PD, Tease) all make good elites to use if you enjoy interupting

If u want to use a bow and interrupt with a bow i strongly suggest creating a ranger,if u want to play a mesmer i suggest u stick to spells for interrupting.U might also want to check the forum for builds or check www.pvxwiki.com

Default Thanks for the posts

Thanks for the replies. To be honest I find pvxwiki is a bit limited for any builds that are "outside of the box." I like your suggestion Uzu, I might try that out. I generally prefer mesmer interrupts, but d-shot is great and takes no skill points to be effective; you're suggested build makes good use of that.

TBH I would run Mesmer interrupts and maybe running skills / defense from the ranger line in RA

Keep the bow with the ranger since you have only 4 targets in RA

Don’t forget about the Signets like [empathy] [Signet of Disruption] combo

P.S. If you have a spirit pooping rits as an opponent it is fun running [Unnatural Signet] just for fun

PVE something to think about is [extend conditions] [glyph of immolation] make everything you do burn just for something different

Fragility is really like an extra bonus, not a main damage source. Casual PvP... hmm I would personally say something like "I would like to combat [insert profession here]" and go through and see what would help you defeat them.

D shot is a lot of fun on a mesmer. Bring diversion, and as soon as diversion goes off use D shot. 9/10 you'll interrupt a skill. Poison tip signet is fun because you can shoot poison from your wand. Basically it's free degen.

Scavenger's focus and Melandru's Resilience are elites mesmers can use, though I wouldn't really suggest Scavenger's strike (it's decent energy regain from wanding though)

Where you pvp will make a difference in what you run.

Oooo... [skill]Melandru's Resilience[/skill]. Considering a mesmer can get away without mesmer elites, especially in PvP, that sounds like a nice buff.

Yeh, as tempting as it would be to have one of the most imba skills in the game, leave the D-Shot alone if you want to be a mesmer. Anything to reduce your squishy factor is good.
