Default Mesmer - Mimicry Chickenpie?

So while playing around on my various characters I opted to play some more on my Mesmer, and while looking over the Fast Casting line of spells I noticed Symbols of Inspiration.

So then I thought...well, there's a lot of spells that deal with stealing spells/skills and giving them to you.

Have you guys ever tried using Symbols of Inspiration to make a mimic build, something that deals with stealing spells from allies and enemies and smacking everything in sight to death?

Problem is,you need to analyse the area your using it in to get the best suited elite,it's quite good in high end areas where the elites usually don't fail, but usually you also don't need much in fast casting in PvE.

Any build where you steal/copy a bunch of skills uses the other SoI - Signet of Illusions.

The only legitimate thing you can do with Symbols of Inspiration is take an elite from another primary, since any non-primary elite can already be used at a respectable level. It also has to be a spell, so things like Escape and Ether Prism won't work either. Mix in the fact that there's multiple mobs in every PvE area, so there's no elite you can aim to get from every mob - and it doesn't disable the foe's elite, it just takes it - you're left with a lulzy-but-completely-useless elite.

Don't try. Its a fun elite, but if you're actually being serious with it, its way too hard to use effectively because you have other important things to do. (And, I've more then once minicried a melee elite , nuff said)

The only fun "stealing" that the mesmer ever had was when we could mimic monster skills and use Bear Form or Great Destroyer skills.

It's a flawed idea for GW1.

I don't see anything flawed about the skill if you know the area you're entering. I don't have a very high casting build sadly myself to consider using it atm.

Instead of gimping yourself of having to cast stolen elite spells at its lower attribute levels and not disabling any skills at all; why not just go Signet of Illusion + Arcane Larceny/Arcane Thievery?

well technically this elite only copies, not steals. it would be awesome if it would steal it (meaning it disables the enemies elite), then it would be almost like an elite version of signet of humility/arcane thievery. since it doesn't however, i think its pretty useless. really the main benefit is that it allows you to "triple-class", which may be fun but not generally useful. you could say it allows you to be a fastcaster, but you might as well just go me/n or me/e and bring the elite that you want to use with some points in fast casting.

You might be able to make a decent bar if you mix it with Arcane Echo in an area that has powerful elites.
