True true. But I am determined to take advantage of the elementalists being able to actually deal good damage with a bit help from the Dervish secondary before Anet starts listening to the players and nerf the elementalists once again. Personally, I don't mind using a monk secondary and helping our fellow monk out with heal party in Alliance Battle, but it'd be nice to go all offensive once in a while.

[pink] has run mantra of fire in HA; signet of humility is used in every *good* hex build ever, and my favorite counter is extinguish with a spec of about 7 in prot.

The fact that an ele is a crip shot target now makes me smile though.

i cant believe..always that there is a good skill that does it job..wow,lets nerf it.

Cant u use builds adequated to counter other builds?

Try elemental resistence(mesmer),vow of silence(dervish),etc...think

The first time i went into Gates of desolation mission with my ele i was unprepared for what was going to happen.
Every monster had a skill to prevent casting spells on them, so it seems nightfall provided the counters you need because i was hearing the dreaded tsk-tsk sound alot that first time.

There's a difference between pve where every mob seems to have an sb monk and vow of silence dervishes, and real pvp where people don't run those trashy skills. Those guys are there just to make the mission harder for pug pve groups.

Everybody should stop moaning about the SF and GG combo, look at guildwars.com and you'll see even they promote the build (hahahaha). See thispage at guildwars.com

A.net finally is putting the elementalist back too what they where supposed to do in the manual (on top of their very usefull other 3 magic lines :P), and that wasn't just being a runner of heal party spammer!

agreed there. Though, sometimes, SF is not the best option even in PVE.

with glowing gaze and fire attunement you can spam SF GG SF SF GG etc for awhile

I agree. Also it cost 15 energy to use.. According to Wiki, Searing Flames also cost 15 energy. The way I see it, you spend 30 energy just to spam a second Searing Flames. I don't like that. =/

Arcane echo = crap.

Let's see, I can waste a pile of energy so I can spam SF a teensy bit faster for 20 seconds, then I can sit through a nasty 30 second cooldown. No thanks.

a fair few more off actully.
currently on my bar ive got arcane echo, searing flames, glowing gaze, mark of rogort, meteor shower, aura of resteration, fire attunment, res

i dont really need mark of rogort if im running searing flames x2..

what should i use instead?

What about using Arcane Echo to copy Glowing Gaze? That way you can still spam Searing Heat but you get twice as much energy management.

Fireball or Liquid Flame should really be there. Searing Flames spam really isn't effective if the enemy has good condition removal so some straight up damage is a good way to go.

One problem: Arcane Echo has a 30 second cooldown, so you'll not be able to get twice as much energy management that often.

Mark of rodgort is redundant with the presence of searing flames in the build. Arcane echo bleeds out efficiency, especially if you figure in your staff or wand mods assuming you arent using 15>50 for whatever reason.

Put in liquid flame and fireball, or some utility and lose some points out of energy storage in your build. Hell, even aura of restoration and fire attunment can get swapped out for glyph of lesser energy and something else depending on how conservative you play.

Ive experimented with SF a couple of times in AB, but man, there really isn't another build thats so limited. In pve it's definitely very useful, but most ppl whining are PvPers, and thats quite hard to absorb for me. Every thumper or assassin i met totally owned me, there was no room for any defense on my skillbar anymore, just for e-management and stuff. I think that SF doesn't need a nerf, because it just sucks eggs. I switched my build to air with some lightning damage and gale+shock and i never scored more kills then with that (especially with spiking SF eles and touchers ).
Most funny part is that people were calling me a SF noob while they were hugging together like there was no tomorrow, if you are so fond of barbeque thats exactly what you're going to get. I literally told them over the local chat channel that every class owns my butt and that SF sucks big time (I was killed 6 times that match). Bottom line: don't nerf SF, its bad, limited and perfectly suited for noobs. And please don't tell me that u can't own a noob.

SF is not bad, it can apply insane amount of pressure if played properly (directed at bungus). However, it is fragile.

And Arcane Echo is just not flexible enough to warrant a slot.
